I just want to say Thank you for all the tips and tricks. I started doing YT videos and when I need help your channel is the one who I always turn to for HOW TO videos! Love the content!! 🙏🏻
The tilt & pan feature on the 5k sold me thanks I didn't know the 3k pro didn't do that and I was about to buy it. Buying 5k right now! You guys are the best channel for so many things thanks for everything you do!
Just a good vid. Been waiting to buy one of these as I assemble my first kit(no rush as I havent really picked my niche yet or gotten started)-- and this was perfect. Thanks man.
Lol , I just realized that tomorrow marks a year since you guys gave away a studio set up + a cannon M50 , you guys really helped someone out . Big ups to Think media . Great video by the way .
Bought a nice dslr, a cheap tripod, and a nice mic. Super excited to start my CZcams channel. Thanks for all the tips and content you share to help people get started and improve their own content. 🤙
I had one of the smallest Gorillapods for 6 months and it fell apart. I'm now using a mini tripod that originally had an old telescope on it, 40 years ago..YES you heard me correctly 40 YEARS ago! Things were built to last in those days. It's as good as new!
Yes it was very frustrating. The legs came apart but more important DIDN'T GRIP ROUND POLES. The magnets were great so if you worked off a steel plate it was fine. Cheaper metal CLAMPS are much better.a
This was a timely video. My little GorillaPod just broke the other day (leg fell apart). It was probably due for an upgrade anyway as I often use a Canon M50 now, but was a bit uncertain which option to choose for the upgrade.
I use the 3K for my Canon M50 for the videos on my channel and I can slap pretty much any lens on the front and it still feels solid! Did have the 1K and it was doing me a concern on the regular as it just felt like it was gonna topple at any minute so needed to change it haha upside is I can still use the 1K for lights etc tho🤙
This vloga definitely is useful for every youtube users out there wether new or experienced.. thanks a lot !! i just started a channel and I know it will grow with all of this help! THANK YOU
Awesome vid Sean! Thanks for sharing! Definitely would love to pick a gorilla pod up sometime, so versatile! Sean if you see this I submitted an application through your website a week or so ago, just wanted to let you know! Have an amazing day my friend😊
Great vid mate. You have planted a want worm in my head for the 3k pro. I have a channel where I explain my own gear and how I use it, but I actually did not know which model GP I actually use each day. Originally with a Canon M50 but more now with the insta 360 onex
We’re making family videos and never thought we will get to the point we need to invest in items and tools. But, the channel sems to be appreciated so we got to bbuy stuff. This video was helpfull for me to choose the exact tripod i need. Thanks!
i got the 1k for my sony a6400...wish I would've watched this video before! The 3K Pro and the quick release seems to be the way to go! Hate having to constantly screw my camera into the G-Pod!
Thanks for making this Sean! I've lost complete faith in Joby products after going through a bunch of Gorilla pods which don't last in my experience (standard everyday use) - But I may well give the aluminum one a go! Thank you
I hear ya on that. I typically get about a years time out of one of them and then it needs to be replaced because one of the legs will detach. I can click it back in and still use it, but I can't trust it completely at that point.
I have just a basic gorillapod no ball joint no quick release just has a screw in base it only cost me $60 AUD about $40 us dollers there a must-have!!!!
Great informative video! I personally use Joby knockoffs before even tho they tend to break after a few months of rugged use; but for what you pay for them, they're well worth it. Nowadays I opted out of those bendable tripods and stuck with those mini tripod legs from gimbal manufacturers like zhiyun/feiyu. They're made of rugged metal, feels more durable than Jobys and can carry a lot more weight. Downside tho is you can't clamp them on railings and/or uneven surfaces.
I appreciate this video! QUESTION! Are you able to use the Ballhead X on BOTH the 5k and 3k? I bought the 5k and Ballhead X before they rebranded the tripod names, and am looking to get a smaller gorillapod.
I have been using Joby but i wish they were taller. When putting them on a table, they are still.so.much shorter than me, i have to crouch down or prop it up on something
Wild how this video is 4 years old and I just purchased one, got the 3k on special for $30 and I went back to check it out again because of this video, the price for the just the 3k is $100 original 🥴. Amazing video appreciate the demonstration and material type 🙏🏻😊
I’m loving my 3K pro... I used SIRUI 3T-35K TABLETOP I love also. But I wanted to try the joby and it hasn’t disappoint and I got it for 50% on amazon here in Europe only 49.95€ sale!!! And I’m loving it
Joby GorillaPod 3K is very strong and manual to carry out mirrowless camera. I keeper all the time in my backpack and for small camera I used small Manfrotto.
As a subscriber you have inspired us to start Vlogging, videoing planes take off and land as well visit restaurants in Hawaii. We are beginning. Which Canons on a medium budget do you recommend? Please advise. Thank you.
Nice breakdown, definitely helps me figure out which one I really want. Totally off topic, that sweatshirt hoodie has a "Gucci" logo with a stylized "C" in the middle that looks exactly like the Champion clothing logo which I thought went out of business and was located in Norwich, NY. Just curious about that and if there is any connection.
I picked a Joby Handypod, not flexible but cheap and sturdy enough to support my mirrorless camera, with a ballhead usable at 90°. it also has ergonomic legs for better grip in selfie mode.
What’s your take on the magnetic 325 compared to earlier version w/ quick release? Sharing with iPhone XS Max & Canon G5x MK II on the MeFoto u suggested
I would really like to film some top down diy videos for a CZcams channel to promote my Etsy business but I’m not sure how to mount my iPhone to be in a stable position to film my work surface. Could you maybe do a video showing how the products you recommend could be used for top down shots? I’m trying to figure out what to invest in for that purpose.
I have BOTH the GorillaPod 1K & the GorillaPod 325 pod (Which I'm giving to a friend for Her to Stream and hold her phone on.) I'm going to get the 3k Myself so that I can use it for my Lumix G7 and the 1K for my gx85. I LOVE Joby's and have had the gorillapod Tripod for Digital Cameras and Camcorders, & the JOBY - GripTight Action Kit Tripod, Amazing tools and I even made a Video on how you can turn your GoPro using a Joby into an AMAZING Vlogging Rig.
Just in case anyone wants one, Amazon, has the 5K RIG kit that includes the accessory kit that has two more flexible arms, two cold shoe mounts, a go Pro adapter, a plate to mount the two arms to, and a strap that can be used to mount the tripod in even more creative ways... And they have the entire package for about $100.00 USD!!! As it is normally $200.00 USD, I grabbed it up as soon as I saw it at that price!
Will the 3k pro work for an all-around tripod? Meaning will it work for my mirrorless, phone, GoPro? Do they even make a QR or plate for the 3k pro that will allow me to use my GoPro?
I own the 3k and it does the job. I wouldn’t really go over 4lbs with it. I use the Sony a6400 with the sigma 16mm 1.4. I also keep my camera in a smallrig cage with a wooden handle and wooden grip. My rig is less then 3lbs though so it works just fine. I do like the ball head and quick release better on the 5k though. If price wasn’t an issue, of course I would just buy the 5k, but my 3k works just fine for now.
I have the same set up as you, right down to the cage. Although, I am becoming annoyed with trying to figure out where I like the microphone placement on the a6400. I've tried it out in a few different spots, and just can't settle on a spot that seems to satisfy me yet lol. I like it mounted over on the same side as the mic jack, but I hate how it sticks out to the side. It looks goofy in my opinion, and I prefer it to be up on top of the camera. I'm going to pick up some other mounting options to attach to the cage and see if I like it mounted up top on the same side as the mic jack. I've just been running it in the hot shoe on the camera and not using the flip up screen, because I know sony's auto focus will lock onto me, but I'd still like to check the screen once in a while to see if my exposure changes at all while I'm talking to the camera. Gotta love these 1st world problems we stress over lol.
pure panoRAMa haha, you and I are exactly alike. I’ve mounting the mic in several different spots. I like it mounted on the grip side with the coldshoe mount but the mic cord is so long it’s annoying. But anywhere else it annoys me more so I just kinda settles on that. Plus it acts as something to grip onto while I’m holding the camera with one hand.
So the 5k and 3k pro have the same build quality? Or the 3k pro has better? I see they both have aluminum but I feel like I've heard that 3k pro is better in some videos and others it is the same.
Hi Sean...I'm relatively new to CZcams, just started my channel a little over 2 weeks ago, thanks to several of your videos but I'm currently using the tripod you guys had on your quick start tools guide, not sure what the exact name of that guide was sorry, but it's the Ravelli 61" lightweight tripod, now I use it at its shortest since I have it on my desk but I was wondering what kind of set up I would need, now mind you I record with my Samsung S10+ phone for now, but what would i need, as far as a tripod to do videos where its focusing on my hands while I work on something. Like if I'm wanting to do a crochet tutorial & need the camera focused on my hands? I would like it so I can actually see what I'm doing as well but without having to stand & watch thru the view finder, if I have to I will but any help on this would be very much appreciated as i trust your recommendations. Thank you so much & I'd be honored if you'd check my channel & give me some feedback. I know you're SWAMPED but it would mean a lot. I do do some editing & had a friend make up my intro & outro videos but I also like being somewhat raw in that if I make a mistake, unless its HUGE, thay I just keep going but I'm hoping I picked up your tips accurately when it comes to thumbnails, descriptions, etc. Sorry this got so long but got overly excited...LOL! Thanks SO MUCH for all you do for your online family, you guys are awesome! Have a great night!
