My honest talk about the PGYTECH MantisPod 2.0, to cut a long story short, it disappointed me. Fingers crossed 3.0 will be the mutts nuts. One of these however, is the best travel tripod, the best vlog tripod EVER on the planet!

Interesting , usually vendors would want to enhance their lines and not go backwards however I do understand why they would want to reduce the price to please customers but as you pointed out it comes at a cost from premium to basic , that rubber grip would have helped 💯! Hopefully they learn from this and get feedback .

AGREED! Got V2 in white and still prefer the OG V1 pro. More solid, better grip, more locking mechanisms

Yeah I totally agree on you. I am hesitating one pro and two the latest one. What annoy me is that the plastic feeling that I cant bear and Discrimination to smart phone which is not friendly for beginner
The V1 Pro is excellent, I think it really is the best vlog mini tripod out there!

Say I choose the v1 pro, which you recommend. - What is alternative way to initiate shot wirelessly? I don't like the sony app it is a buggy application after all and not reliable. - I use a6400 anyway

That is by far the best version and it's the version I use on almost a daily basis. The V2 found its way into my box of death.
Thanks for the heads up brother! Going for the pro. Wish they had made a carbon fiber version of the pro with the remote trigger at this point.
I'm guessing they'll one day drop a V3 and it'll be an improvement over the V1 and V2, fingers crossed!

What are you saying bro! I own version two. Never bought version one. I use my version two mostly with my RX100VII. I love it. So nice and the cold shoe works great with my external mic. I would strongly recommend buying version two.
I totally understand you, it’s like buying your first car as an electric, never before having driven a petrol guzzling American muscle. I’d be satisfied too, until I tried a driving a Charger 🤘🏻 The 2.0 is so far off the 1.0, it just came as a huge disappointment to me. It should have been called the 0.5.
@@PhillipSkraba I get your point. But you can pay attention to the car or you can pay attention to efficiency in getting to your destination. I would not put my FX3 on any version of this. Version two takes care of my RX100VII great. It’s a great efficient tool in my camera bad. I use it over the bigger Sony Bluetooth remote because it has a cold shoe. And the cold shoe even rotates, which makes my directional mic even more directional. Please take another look at it. This time around, let your focus be efficiently getting the job done.
@@GimmicksVille I totally get your point too, but this is a tool to replace my Gorillapod, which the MantisPod 1.0 did very nicely, and improved on so much that the Joby went into the box of death. The MantisPod 2.0, which I was really excited for, also went into the box of death.
The MantisPod 1.0 is still being used just about everyday, and holds my A7S3 and 24-70GM with no problem at all, something I'm not really confident doing on the MantisPod 2.0. Both have a rotatable coldshoe, but sure, the bluetooth is missing on the 1.0, which is why I'm hoping the 3.0 will not be a disappointment, but a 1.0 with a bluetooth dongle.
If you ever get a chance to hold the 1.0, you'll see what I'm talking about it, it's premium. I feel they shot themselves in the foot by calling the 2.0, the 2.0, when they should have called it the 0.5. The 2.0 should naturally be an improved version, that's just my opinion though.

Is it just my Mantis pod? Or does anyone also experience a little bit of a wobble when you have your vlog cam setup connected to the pod? I can hear the rattle when i playback footages.
I always thought that was suspension. Pgytech need to concentrate less on making stupid bin bags and put all their brain power into making a decent V3 version of the MantisPod that enhances the V1, adds the bluetooth from V2 and that’s that. Instead recently they’ve been making the worlds most useless products.
The Amazon reviews plus this videos set me straight. I’ll let Amazon and honey tell me when the price drops a bit and hopefully they come out with a v3 soon !
No idea if they will drop a V3, if they do though I hope they make it as good as the V1, more pro, higher quality, maybe a cheap and a quality version for people to choose from.

The original first generation mantis pod ARCA SWISS swivel head mount isn't cold shue.
Mine has cold shoe as you can see.
Well, I bought it, and I love it! Perfect for my Pocket 2 and other gear.
You stick your Pocket 2 on the MantisPod?? That's just wild! I think it's honestly a great product, I have no problem with that, the problem I have is they called it the 2.0, which puts the buyer under the impression that it's an upgrade, an improved version, but it feels like a step back.

Version 1 was wobbly at the head, and not stable at all. I can only imagine version 2
Really? You might need to tighten it, mine was loose once, I tightened all the screws and it was fine after that.
@@PhillipSkraba naw man. I’m talking about all the play in the the main push button control on the side. I have two of them. Nothing more to tighten. Fx3 with a 24mm wiggles a lot. To each their own, I’m dumping mine
