I have multiple bendy tripods and I love them. I have the big one for DSLR stuff and the smaller one for GoPro's and pocket cameras.

I think it'd be worth it for Casey to replace is GorillaPod periodically as he wears out the stiffness of the joints. Much cheaper than replacing the cameras as often as he ends doing. Plus I've found instead of keeping the legs straight when standing it up, bend each leg with a sharper angle so there is a bit of a joint and it doesn't tend to spread out so easy.
Good idea.. Also I think it'd be worth it for Casey to take a couple of his older damaged cameras and send them in for repair so that he has a working backup in a pinch - instead of just his gear graveyard (tho I know he likes having his graveyard)...
I agree, same with the drones. DJI does a good job getting those back in the air and cheaper than buying a new one along with having one or two as backup. I know from experience. ;)

This isn't a commentary on how he treats his equipment. His explanations have made perfect sense to me for his approach and mentality. They are just tools. My comment was only suggesting the possibility of the GorillaPod aging and the angle of the legs. It's a relatively cheap tool to replace and it might be worth it to do more frequently.

Why point the tripod legs out at an angle! Just bend them out a bit then directly and vertically down. That way I've not had the cam fall on me .....yet.

The tripod he uses can support up to 5KG and the whole camera setup is less than 2KG pretty much.

The gorillapod simply can't handle the weight of the camera. Casey, you should write a letter to Joby and tell them that they need to make a more hardcore, Casey signature line of gorillapods that can handle your awesome vlogging action.

@@SejfTrix no it isn't. It's not designed to stand in straight lines. If you make a base for it to rest on with the lower few bumps on each leg it would be stable.

No he's not bending them in the middle when placing it, it's not a tradition Tri-pod you don't leave the legs straight.. He's not dumb... but he's shit talking just for some content for this vlog, or maybe he really is that dumb he can't bend the legs properly...
That seems to be rather common for the GorillaPod Focus - I've seen other CZcamsrs having the same problem. Strangely, it's really only the Focus - I own the SLR-Zoom, which doesnt have that problem, but instead the joints get incredibly stiff after a while -.- Also, the SLR-Zoom is already supposedly suited for up to 3kg, and the Focus for up to 5kg - so that can't be the problem either.

Wont work, they are a trash product. I've had mine replaced 3 times and every one breaks in the first few times using it dumping my 3lb camera in the dirt...if I let it. Even though it has a "5.5lbs capacity. (my ass!)

Casey from all the gear you buy every day - the least thing is a new bendy tripod I guess. These hinges get tired after a while and don't hold as good as the ones of a new Gorillapod. I have a bigger rig on this exact Gorillapod and it doesn't fall over, cause the hinges aren't as loose as yours. Just get a new one and you`ll be fine.
