I’m really interested in yt. But there sizing has it hard to make a decision. I’m 6 foot maybe a hair taller, I want a playful bike but don’t want to be cramped. Any direction or opinion would be helpful. L? Or XL?

@@trentcarter616 I'm 183cm and ride XL Jeffsy 29 - they're not that big - but when pushing it on the stairs when I get home, I realize that it is a chunk of a bike. I feel really really good on it - both up and down. on the other hand, just met the dude who is 188cm and rides L Jeffsy 29 - and swears it's the best fit for him ever. so, you know - depends what you want. if agility is your thing - than L, if stability - XL. one does not prevails over the other that much - but L and XL have different chainstay lengths - and I think, besides reach, the biggest difference is there. I'd advise XL for you.

I would say direct sales brands offer good value so long and you can do your own wrenching and don't have anything major from a warranty perspective. I do think that if your going to depend on a local shop for service you need to factor in what services they provide free on bikes purchased through them vs what your going to have to pay for those services on a bike bought elsewhere.

@@cayne1 I ride fairly technical north east single track... Stuff like "Lynn woods" and "Harald Parker State forest" ... There are YT vids of those places to get ta sense of the terrain. But spent a lot of my biking career on 26" DJ mountain bikes and BMX type bikes. Riding a variety of stuff (skate parks, urban, dirt jumps, single track, etc).
The meta was my first 27.5 wheeled bike and it felt giant compared to everything I've ridden and sometimes I feel like I'm cheating / just blasting over stuff since the bike is very capable. However, I really cannot bunny hop it, manual, or do any fancier stuff like I can on my DJ style bikes (people can....I just can't).
I'd go with the meta if you:
      1. Have other bikes such as a hardtail
      2. You ride pretty technical stuff fairly regularly and maybe a heavier rider
      3. You plan to do some lift service /DH type riding (I was before all this covid stuff).
I'd get the trail version if:
      1. Lighter rider
      2. Mostly riding long high mileage trail systems with minimal northshore style features and jumps
      3. If this would be you're one and only bike.... I feel over biked for allot of trail systems in my area and sometimes have to get on a less capable bike to hone my skills.
TBH I never ridden the trail version, but I feel like it might have been a good choice for me personally.

great video I would agree on that Comencal, I wish I would have waited and bought that bike.
When over-inflating a Recon I get good proper support but it seems to ramp up too fast/deflect off shit all the time.
if good traction, it feels like a POS, all sloppy and low.
They recommend full open on rebound for my weight, maybe I will slow it down see what happens...

In a bit disappointed that they didn't really about the vitus Mythique in this round table, since it offers basically the same component spec or better than the bikes in this range. Do you give up that much in the frame design?
Also a little disappointed that they had the 150mm yt but didn't include the ripmo AF.

You are thinking of GBP. This test is bikes under 3000 US dollars. The expert is nearly 4000$ the comp is over 3k . Also the Reactor labelled a trail bike but is bordering on enduro territory. The Vitus bikes are better value.

But I too love the Commencal Meta TR best, and am just waiting for this CV to clear to buy it. I only wish it had a GX option without having to upgrade all the other gadgets. I had already decided against buying another "pear" as I love my present hardtail, but looked at the Pole and the Torrent, just in case. Still LOL :)

I bought my Commencal Meta TR one month after this review came out. And 6 months later I can tell you that I love it - head and shoulders over so many others. However, it was not under $3,000, but just over it. And then I upgraded with GX Derailleur and GX Wrist Shifter - wonderful. Thank you Pink Bike! P.S. It came with great Schwalbe tires - while so many come with tires that need upgraded. OH - It could due with more powerful brakes, but I am making due. LOL!!!!!
