I thought used car salesmen are smooth until i saw catamaran salesmen, they are on another level. They know their stuff and really put you in the sailing mode,
they appear as experienced sailors
its the touching the ropes, the pointing to the sails, these people should run schools on training sales for other salesmen.

Wow amazing boat made in the wonderful place Knysna South Africa 🇿🇦 when I was a kid spent all my July holidays way before all the development. It had a huge wood factory on the island that my uncle worked for . I Sailed to Knysna in January this year fell in love again with the place.Great show guys 👌
Oh my! 🥰 YES, she’s expensive but if beauty were prices less, it would be this catamaran 😍 The unobstructed view from those large windows was absolutely stunning. I loved the floors, the galley was first class and agreeing with Ellie the sugar scoop platform was so inviting for sundowners 🍹🥂🍻 That electrical closet was well designed and flawless. The attention to detail in this catamaran was impeccable and did I mention she’s a performance boat too! Good golly, I think I’m gonna order two! ☺️

OMG, this is definitely the best 50-foot catamaran in the world, though the price is as jawl-dropping as the quality, too.
As I remember, the smallest boat that Gunboat currently produces bow is the 68. So anyone who wants a sub 60 foot Gunboat has an equivalent choice now.
The best? I think that is subjective. There were a number of small things I didn't like and would want changed, price not being an issue.

Two things i wasnt so keen on the full exposed double helms and that downstairs electrical cupboard whilst totally fitted out it might be a devil to sort out a failure in a few years time and it would be very warm in use. ...
The other point is there seems to be little to no insulation of the lower hulls if you want to travel for any time in temperate or higher/lower latitudes. Tasmania or S. NZ S.America or Scandinavia and the Baltic...even for 3 seasons use.
A problem with a lot of boats where people are not viewed as living aboard other than high days and holidays. Good Insulation works both ways😉 and saves a lot of energy.
Though passive ventilation looked excellent on this Stealth vessel.
@@clivestainlesssteelwomble7665 We can fit liners to provide more insulation but the build quality really shows with a faired interior - you have to see it yourself to appreciate it

I understood the desire to show the finish standards😎 ... and the weight saving aspect.
I was thinking over the Doctors previous thoughts and wish list in term of their Cat and travels.
Im in the UK and am the sort that burns in minutes even in spring and a lot of the cruisers and live aboards I follow have to spend a great deal of time insulating their boats and ventilating them to make them habitable through the year and through the climatic conditions they travel through.
Exposed helms result in heat stroke/Skin cancer damage or exposure and fatigue in anything beyond a very narrow range of conditions . Racers and died in the wool salts may like the idea but a rougher crossing of the N Sea or Bay of Biscay I would say would have 95% heading for the inner helm given the option.

Impressive, what I wonder on those modern boats where all is electric and electronic switching - how do you fix that, when it breaks in a remote space. The cat vs. mono discussion aside, I am much more on the Kraken philosophy. Things must be fixable by the crew and/or local craftsmen in low-expert countries. Keep it simple, solid and slightly overbuild. I think on a boat it's never the question if but only when it breaks. I'd worry on those max. equipped boats.
4 or 5 million - Uh - If you have that kind of capitol.
Maybe look at one of those townhouse cruising communities?
Probably be much more enjoyable, and about the same costs.
@@amunderdog for a sailing freak, it should be a boat. But even there: be it Bestevaer and Kraken or top-line cats - which cruiser can afford those?
Having worked as an ad man in luxury goods for a while (cars 300-400k up!) I know, people that consider boats 1m or 1.5m and up usually do not have to choose between either or. It's the "first million or two are the hardest"-paradox" - once there, one can leverage investments and have capital work for you. And that curve grows exponentially with every dollar made. Obviously, there seems to be more people who can afford luxury-price-yachts 1 million up than we normal mortals can imagine,

Wow, so good to see SV Happy Together and to be one of the first to learn they bought a new boat. I was there when they purchased the Leopard 45 and then the following year the Leopard 50. I think they have only made one video on their channel in about 2 years. Wow, so this is what they have been up to, very interesting!
For me, the only thing I don't like is the inside helm station with a HUGE WHEEL, I would have it completely removed, and have an electric steering mechanism or just a link to the autopilot. With two external helms and wheels, you do not need the inside third wheel. It's overkill and takes up way too much space in the saloon area and more cabling and steering mechanical bits that I don't need to worry with, just another headache waiting to happen IMHO.
One thing I love and am glad to see manufacturers starting to move towards is the BOOM FURLER system for the mainsail. This is a FAR EASIER system for single handling and for a couple. It allows an infinite number of REEFING POINTS and you don't need a sail bag or jack lines to worry about.
I would also change the SOLAR setup to provide 3Kw (3000w) of power output to at least 6 batteries or more to handle all electrical requirements on board and for the nav stations. I don't want a generator if I can avoid it. I detest the flat panel setup as its efficiency rating drops to like 15-20% from the standard 35% on a raised panel setup.
IMHO this boat is overkill with three duplicate helm stations and three HUGE steering wheels, there is NO NEED for this setup as many 50 foot cats have sailed around the world MANY TIMES with just one wheel and maybe two helm stations, the inside primarily for watches and bad weather with access to the autopilot and engines as needed. It's also WAY OVERPRICED IMHO. I get they went all out with no compromise per se, but still, what they decided to include are not all my choices so I would not want to pay for those things, or at least I would modify things significantly for 2.7M that I am paying.
Hmm, so SV Happy Together had a Leopard 50, you all had a Leopard 50, and now SV Happy together have purchased a Kinetic 54. I wonder if you all will continue the trend, lol?

@michael - when the going gets rough out there, you will appreciate an inside helm - believe me. Especially if your autopilot packs up, for example. This was our first 54 - our showboat - so it was natural that she would have all the bells and whistles - personally I would not go for dockmate, bow thruster, fuel polisher, exterior helms, load cells on rigging pins etc but I am still very proud of what we have built. BTW - randy and Lennie will have a 2.6kW solar array. Regarding pricing - have a look at what our competition charges for the same spec.
its really about your budget. almost 3 mill for K54 is for those who have money to burn. silent 55 1.6 million US. Adding a parachute sale means you can sail when wanting and 1 million left over for generator fuel if needed. so many choices. cant wait to hear what you choose.
Good point. Reminds us of the pen that will work in space that NASA developed for millions - the Russians just used a pencil!

speed has got a price and the silent even with the chute will only go a quarter the speed the kinetic will do
Impressive boat. I personally would be hesitant. The big cost is the carbon fibre. New boat, new company. Maybe for this price I'd go for a used Gunboat. Hey, did you ask Randy about buying his Leopard 50?
Save the brokerage, and their boat is Loaded .
BTW one of my favourite sailing channels is " Cat Great Circle " a terrific Dutch couple. They just took delivery of the new Outremer 55..Check it out, beautiful boat, fast. Spacious, for a lot less.

Hi John & Eli, between this K54 and the B526 or B482, I think this is far better, yes the $$$$ is a bit steep, just wondering if you took this K54 and only had the one helm station similar to the Balance then I think you would have a winner????
Very impressive boat! I like the love to details. But... it seems to have too much complexity/electronics. I'd also rather give up some of the space and have the power compartment a little less cramped. Also not a fan of the indoor wheel. I think a remote would suffice there. But well - not in my price range anyway :)
If the wheel was removable when at anchor, it would be great.
I do get more nervous as systems get too complicated cause there is more to break down. I felt the same about the indoor steering wheel at first but the nice thing is that it means you are completely out of the sun and weather, like the down position of the Balance. On the down side, working the as sheets in the front cockpit will be very wet in rough weather.....
@@barefootdoctorssailing8567 Indeed. Everything breaks on a boat - and I am not sure how well this boat does when the next service station isn't around :) I guess it comes down to what trips you want to do. But I enjoy being off the beaten path.
As for the steering: At least in my experience in those sun and weather situations, 96% of the time it's the autopilot steering - and we just adjust course. So the indoor steering does not have much of a benefit (to me).
Working on the sheets in the front in rough weather - that's another one. You'll be safer than going to the mast (when not all lines are at the helm), but what a disaster it must be when you open the door just when a wave goes over the boat. Especially with all those electronics everywhere :-D
Why not call the boat Barefoot Doctors? For marketing it works very well having a universal name on everything you put out and it tells the story of who you are.

Hi Giy, yes there is a HH review too. Both at the top of the class for performance and quality build. If I had to choose, I would probably go for the HH as the Kinetic has really complicated electrical systems that would worry me sailing around the world as repairs in remote places would be very difficult...

Yes, you are right - Randy and Lenny ordered this boat at the show and we followed their channel, have met many times and are good friends and were sad when they stopped doing the videos.... We know how hard is is though.
All I can say after watching this is, it's time for you to buy that winning lottery ticket so you can buy one of these.

I’ve been on this kinetic after it was launched in Knysna it’s very nice and was really well made except a few door frame gaps but I know the guy who put up the mast and saw the mast on the ground up close and wow it was amazing how advanced it was
Hi Alix - we try to fit the doors as best we can but you will notice there are no door frames - the doors fit flush into the bulkheads - faired and painted sans frame
I don't understand how the push button system works for triming the sail. Was the business end of that system shown?
@carson - mainsheet (Harken electric captive) and main traveler (Antal line driver) are push button with limit switches - jib is on a Reckmann electric furler and the sheet is self tacking, wound around a Harken 60 re-wind winch for trimming - main is on a Bamar furler and the Bamar and 60 pit winch are synced for reefing and furling. All of these controls are available at all three helm stations. Primaries are 70.3 Harkens but the show boat had 80.3's.

How was the quality compared to the HH50?
Very similar quality but the KC had lots of extra gear / electrics
extremely original features, such as the aft folding platform, the vast saloon, as well as the convertible office in the owner's cabin, but the low, exposed aft helms are a no-no for me - not fit for round-the-world cruising, IMHO.
the saloon helm station may be super sheltered, but I'm just not a fan of in-saloon steering - steering and lounging/eating belong in different spaces for me. that saloon helm station deserves a seat, IMHO - push the island backward to make space for it is what I would do.
for the same money, the HH55 (aft helm stations version) also offers a vast, as well as dedicated, saloon and, with raised aft twin helm stations with great sheltering structures, will take you anywhere.
For 2.7M, you sacrifice a lot of space and luxury for speed. I prefer the Sunreef 50 despite the comparative weight and speed deficiency.

That is a camera effect - different frequencies of power (Australian at 60hz and USA at 50) and Leds flash... Sorry about that. There is an app that can fix it but we have not worked that out yet....

Most of these new boats are so complicated in their electronics, wiring, systems, and such. In the real world when sailing a remote location and something goes wrong. I think you would be ... out of luck. But, I am not an expert. Just a guy who likes to sail a boat.

Yes Yura, if you click the CC box on the bottom of the CZcams page you will see subtitles and then go to the Settings (cogwheel) and choose your language. The translations are not exact but certainly will give mostly correct info...
