    Great review, thanks Andrew! This combo would be so great for using with the mirror based reflector systems you mentioned. Brightness levels are insane! But yeah, not ideal for product close ups with some of those optical flaws. The ghosting in particular would really bother me.

    Nicely reviewed, Andrew. I'm glad that more manufacturers are offering projection attachments, although it's a shame that most are proprietary to their own lights. I wonder if they'll address your issues about the ratchet lock mechanism. It's such a shame they didn't give this more consideration, as if they don't have a gaffer working with the product designers.

    My biggest complaint about my forzas has always been the tilt adjustment. The rosette is annoying and my first 300 also got stripped on one side of the yoke when a friend borrowed it. I'll definitely still buy this though, I can put that stripped 300 to good use again.

      I too want to see this.
      I keep forgetting promises of people sending me one for review but it never happens.

      I don't want to purchase one just in case it's a load of hype or another passing fad.

      @@gaffergear yeah completely understood - hopefully one of them follows through on getting a set to you.
      That’s my worry with spending cash and getting into the system before knowing what it’s about and if it’s just a fad - they seem to have a lot of promise in terms of decluttering a set and using fixtures differently - that’s where the appeal for me comes from.
      you’re breakdowns and reviews are great at getting to the heart of things - so fingers crossed someone gets some to ya.

    Hey Andrew. I was just about to buy a forza 500B ii and this projector but after watching this the colour fraying concerns me. I shoot a lot of tabletop and product photogrpahy and need a projector powerful enough to play with 600w and 1200w lights. Is the Spotlight Max better? Any other recommendations? Appreciate any thoughts you have

    • @gaffergear
      @gaffergear  Před 4 měsíci

      The max is very sharp and clean, but the blades are in a very different focal plane to the gobo slot. So if you are planning on using blades in conjunction with Gobos they don't work together well. Otherwise it's an awesome unit
      It may be worth considering the Forza 60/150 projector with a 19⁰ beam. I know it doesn't sound like a lot of firepower but it could be surprising. The 60c with 19⁰ is my go-to for table top fine work.

    • @maxbridge8921
      @maxbridge8921 Před 4 měsíci

      @gaffergear cheers for the reply. I've actually got a 60c + projector and the original Aputure spotlight which I use with the 300d. I was shooting some perfume the other day and needed a tight slash. I found the aputure to be about a stop too dark so was hoping this nanlux combo would work. The spotlight max doesn't seem that great in terms of output...

    • @gaffergear
      @gaffergear  Před 2 lety

      With optical mounts it's best to stick to the same brand. It's not just the mount, it's the size of the COB and position of the COB that effects the optics. So you could get a miss match optically
