Last night, this video was recommended to me by CZcams, I watched it for like a minute, immediately subscribed to your channel and spent this morning bingewatching your entire vlog playlist. Awesome content, both behind the scenes and the actual footage, great energy and good info, thanks for that!
No way!!! That is awesome! Thank you so much for the support. I will keep them coming!
6:41 "And that's it!" You make the most brilliant solutions seem so simple. I love this channel! ✨
Thank you so much! I appreciate!
Yes love the idea of you explaining different stands for different purposes
Wow! Never thought the demand would be so high! Coming soon!
Loved this kind of content!
Impressive load outs Piotr, thank you for sharing what you are up to, fun to watch.
I appreciate your viewership. Thank you!
13:01 YES PLEASE do go over your different stands and which you find more useful / transferrable to multiple or the most scenarios you regularly see. Super glad I found your channel!
Seems the demand is high, so it will happen! Thank you for the support!
Really appreciate how you explain the setup and the thought behind your decisions. Great insights 👍
I appreciate it, I will keep them coming.
I'd love to hear your go through your van and explain why you use what you use. That would help me out a lot!
Already started! Coming soon.
Love your vlogs as usual, always learning something new.
Trying my best to keep them fresh! Thank you for the support!
Great stuff. Love to see anything you do. It's hard to find others doing what you do.
I appreciate the kind words! I will keep them coming!
Fantastic video for a low/no budget filmmaker like myself, I’ve watched it 3 times now. Thank you 🙏🏾
Thank you so much! Check out my other vlogs and I have plenty more in the works!
Dope setup. You rock!
Thank you so much for watching!
This set up 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Thank you!!!
Killer setup on the football interview. How wonderful to have all that background to work with. Really nice look.
Thank you! I was excited for a cool location like this, so I made sure to put in extra work to make it awesome.
This is a video I didn't know I needed to see! Great setup you have there!
Thank you so much, glad you stumbled across it. I will have plenty more to come.
Really enjoy these type of videos. Glad it was recommended on the start page. The way you lit that interview shot is very nice and balanced.
So thankful for the support and expanding audience. I was very pleased with the results.
Awesome video, thanks so much for sharing 🙌🏾🙌🏾🙌🏾
Tbank you for the support!
Yes!! pls make a video on the types of stands/combos you use, thx for the upload!
Already done and posted!
I will never understand the youtube algorithm but I do love the things it brings me. Love the work mate and can't wait to watch more.
It is crazy how it works. Some videos of mine get just 200 views and here we are at over 6k. Thank you for finding your way here!
@@PDMokry Well I will say that you are putting out some valuable information and interesting too. Cool to see your process and thoughts behind your workflow. There's so much value in that alone.
Hey man , I'm just starting learning cinematography and lighting and I don't know how I saw your video while searching for something else and it was just brilliant. You go in depth to explain how lighting works. I am watching all of your videos again and again. Keep it up
Wow! That is awesome to hear. So great knowing I am making an impact. I will keep cranking out content for everyone! Thanks for the support!
I stand by your decision to make a...stand video! I'm also in Dallas, hope to book you on a gig sometime in the future!
Done!

Top Top Top set Up.
Thank you!
this video is amazing, a lot of great tips ! i loved the way you used the umbrella, it's a life saver, especially in the hot weather we have here in brasil !
Thank you so much! I knew I had to make something work for our hot summer days, we are hitting 100+ for weeks.
enjoyed the walk through giving us the insight and reasoning to why its setup the way it is!
I appreciate the kind words and support!
Nice job, that is a challenging mix of large areas of outdoor light spill and indoor lighting which can make it hard to pull off what you did. I especially like the overhead frame and it’s dual purpose! Van tour/explanation video would be pretty cool!
It was a gamble with the natural sunlight coming in. I was betting it would not get any brighter. There were three lights on the ceiling that were pinging that spot, so an 8x8 was barely enough to cut those lights.
I must do a full van tour, no excuses!
Great looking shots. Impressive what you do by yourself.
I had help from another person this time, but we were still under staffed. Thank you!
nice cart build!! (7:50)
Seeing the old van triggers flashbacks of my struggles getting it loaded and unloaded. Still have the carts, but the van is a lot nicer now.
Super cool video! Thanks
Always trying to keep it cool! Thank you!
great content!!! thanks for breaking all this stuff down it really helps me to learn, so I'm more useful on sets!!!
Great to hear! Take a look at some of my other videos, there is plenty more BTS like this! Thanks for watching!
Nicely done! Very clean frames, and your van is tight. With those LEDs if you’re struggling for output you can put the reflector/fresnel on to get more stop, and then double break through a 4x4 and then a 6x6, 8x8, or 12x12 as your second layer.
Thank you! Great point on putting up a second rag and then using the reflectors!
Great work
Thank you so much 😀
This is amazing! Thanks for sharing! I hope to be at your level one day 🔥🔥
You can do it! Thank you for the support!
Great video!
Thanks for the visit!
Sick van!
Thank you!
Great frames. Top notch.
Appreciate it!
Чётенько всё, отличная организация простраства!
Thank you! We are very happy with the final image, it popped in all the right places!
Amazing channel!! Keep it up.
Thank you, will do!
I enjoyed this. Thanks
Loved this one seeing the set up with a producer BTS
I was the producer, DP, Gaffer, Grip and Audio. I did get a great deal of help from my right hand man Andrew, who also knows quite a bit about my setups and we came together to make it all happen.
@@PDMokry Ah right on! apologies, Andrew looked the part then for sure... (or I just didn't listen close enough, opps, lol)
GEEZ LOUIS That's a beautifully done set up! Looks so good it almost feels fake haha (like a green screen background) Awesome job! Awesome breakdown and channel! Thank you for the insight!
Thank you for the love! I was very pleased with how it all turned out. I appreciate your viewership.
Fantastic control on set. Learning a lot by watching you. You've earned a sub from me my man.
Thank you so much, glad I could help.
Very nice ratio and compositions.
Thank you very much!
Please do the stand/rags/flags video. I’d love to know what pieces I’m missing or should be thinking about adding to my setups.
Already up! Take a look at my other videos! Thank you for watching!
That cart .. 😍😍 Need me some build vid on that guy.
It is in the works, just need it to be under 100 degrees here in Texas! 🔥🥵🔥
@@PDMokry haha. I hear that. Stay cool man.
While uploading a video, CZcams recommended a video to me about the Sony FX6, which happens to be my go-to camera. As a creative filmmaker in Wisconsin who works solo, this video has been extremely helpful to me.
So glad you were able to stumble across the channel! I will keep cranking out content.
Can’t believe the grass didn’t blow out while getting acceptable level on talents face. Those were two really clean frames 👌🏻
Happy to see you posting so much
We lucked out with the darker turf for sure! I was excited about this setup, it was a nice change.
Hard to keep up with your pace 🤣, you can slow it down, I won’t be mad at you. Maybe in the busy season I can start getting more than one a week.
And those white line markings - they make life tough to protect! Very nice frames.
@@myvideoguy It could have been gone south quick, but it worked out great!
Great setup you got man, definitely hiring you if I'm ever shooting in the Texas area!
Thank you so much! I will take you up on that offer!
Wow buen video
🔥🔥🔥Amazing content, you have a new subscriber !
Wahoo! You are awesome!
nice setup
Thanks!
Bellisimo
Full 1 Ton tour! 😊
I can get it done!
beautiful lighting! seriously :) the wide I probably would have lowered a bit, I am generally not a fan of it being tilted down towards the talent and seeing so much of his body + the ground.
Thank you! So we had it lower but it was making his legs so big and out of scale. So we shifted up until it looked better.
That first huge monitor you show is wild. Made me wonder what the difference between a monitor and a TV is, practically
There are a few differences big. Inputs, LUTs, Waveform, False Color, Zebras, Overlays and a few more things.
But you can have a big monitor that receives an output from a smaller one with all those features.
The biggest issue is safe transport and it’s size.
I would love too see a video on your stands and use cases for them.
That might be the next video in the works! Be sure to sub!
Finally someone with decent cable management. Would have loved to hear more about your thoughts behind the composition. But yeah overall nice set up. Was there a reasoning not using a fill light? For my taste it gives a more of a corporate look i guess.
I hate when I see a rats nest. I like shooting into corners and we had to avoid certain signage and equipment. This was the cleanest frame.
I love to use bounce fill over a light. Just feels so natural to me eyes.
great video, love the shots. I'm a director based in Dallas as well.
Hey, thanks! Glad you enjoyed it. It would be great to connect!
@@PDMokry for sure brotha!
Hey, I'm definitely interested in your grip setup. Great video too.
I will have to get it done and uploaded!
Man it looks awesome! I need to work with you.
Thank you! Maybe we will one day.
Dirty knees in the fifth minute are invaluable!
Gotta pay my bills somehow!
@@PDMokry Should I not know, I am the same myself!
killer frame! 2 questions:
1. do you have a video showing how you built out the van?
2. tire pressure - with that much load, how often do you do maintenance on the van in regards to tires? How much can it take and how often do you have to do upkeep??
Thanks for doing what you do!
Thank you!!!
I will have one up in the near future.
I am very lucky with the van I have. The NV2500 is pretty much a Nissan Titan Van. So the truck tires handle loads great. I have never had issues with pressure. All my services are with the dealer to maintain the factory warranty.
@@PDMokry i see. thank you!
On the tight shot from 4:00, there’s a distracting strobing/flickering on the far right window. It doesn’t make sense it’s a light because more than likely other lights would be flickering too. I wonder if there was a water hose outdoors spinning around watering an area or something…?
It is a giant floor fan that was set to low. I noticed it too. Great catch!
Please drop that video with the stands you have in the van! I'm looking at buying a Rivian pickup truck (R1T) for my company. The middle of the pickup truck has a hollow "trunk" that I could place my stands in. They call it a "gear tunnel." Very wild concept for a pickup.
The people have spoken, it must happen!
Love the use of the umbrella. What is the make and model if you know? Thanks Peter.
This is it!
amzn.to/44VY2pF
I’d love to see further explanation on your grip and gear and reasons why. I’d also be interested in how you price your services. I do understand that you cannot share a lot because it’s due to the type of job you’ll be at. All I’d like to know is do you have a standard pricing package? Or do you send out a quote based off of the job.
I will start working on the rest of the clips for the setup.
So my grip van and lighting prices are transparent. $450 for 1 ton + $1 per mile + A la carte lighting. Grip or Gaffer can range from $400-$900.
@@PDMokry So how many roles would you be charging for in this case… van, gaffer, DP, camera packages?
@@davidmorefield This was a 1hr interview. Setup was 2hrs and load out was 1hr. I charged for the Van, the two lights, two FX6 packages and audio kit. I went a bit lower on my rate to fit the budget and knowing it was a four hour half day. The other person on the shoot was billed separately because he was also doing drone shots.
i would suggest some type of pulley system you can install an inverter to power said pulley system there relatively cheap
I have thought about that, but a lift gate might be next.
I really appreciate all the tips in this video. How high up do you send the Novas to simulate moonlight? Lighting night exteriors seems to be the most intimidating to me. Thanks.
I was about 12’ up on the novas and feathered them into the frame.
Great content! Really nice lighting! I wonder if you’d use a reflector for the face, so that it makes him stand out a little more.
The ultra bounce is a white reflector. If I took it further, it would throw the ratio off from what I like.
Thank you for watching!
thanks for reply :)@@PDMokry
Great Video! What is the T shaped attachment holding the diffuser for the 1200d?
It is from a modern studio overhead frame kit.
Please, do go over the grip equipment. I learn so much from you. Well done.
Looks like the viewers are in agreement! It must happen! Thank you for the support!
When you said the sun outside changed a lot - what about the strong light strokes in the green - changing throuh the interview cuts?
The interview was pretty quick, so I feel the cuts will not look too wild. When we were setting up, the light hitting the field was very minimal, but filled up once we started. So at that point is would not be jarring to the viewer.
nice work mate! - would love to know what 8x8 rag you are using to diffuse the 600d?
1200D + 150 light diff + 1/4 Grid 8x8
@@PDMokry thankyou:)
Shots look great, can you talk a little bit about the difference between using the light dome versus just straight through your frame with diffusion? Is it just for additional softness, controlling spread instead of using barn doors, eliminating hot spots, softening shadows from the T-bone set up? Also, what would you have done differently with your key light if that 1200 D was not enough power? Thanks!
Also, I have an Amaran F21x for hair lighting, which are you using in terms of diffusion for yours here?
I ended up using the magic cloth like diff in the f22c. It has a softer look.
The dome allows for one less stand and helps control the spill. I can also change the diff or even add a grid if needed. If the output was not enough, I would have run the medium or narrow reflector and broke with a 40x40 frame of diff. That would cut hot spots and and I don’t ever feel I need the full diff filled with light, I always try to go bigger than needed.
Thank you for watching!
@@PDMokry Thank you for the reply!
double check the skin tones when using daylight LED for a key. Color quality gets questionable for skin tone. Without a full spectrum color of light, you really risk skin tones and texture looking a bit muddled. LED's have trouble getting full spectrum in the reds and in the blue/violet wavelengths. This really makes an impact when you light with something with a fuller spectrum. I would have shot a 2k tungsten and gel it if you need blue. Adding CTB only adds color, does not take away from the light source. Im picky with faces.
Thank you for the input!
Not how soon you post after recording but I'd imagine its a few weeks. I've Been trying to find a decent sun umbrella for my cart. How's this one doing for you? Looks great
It has been on two shoots, I will use it whenever I can on a shoot. Sometimes it is overkill, but better to have a place to hide.
Thanks for the vlog and the BTS of the shoots. Who is Clay Hayner, and does he know that you took his cart??? :) Would love to see you talk about the gear you use. Also interested in how you rigged up the F22c used for the hair light. I am assuming it is a combo stand. what's the boom arm and how is the end strapped to the base of the combo stand? Thanks in advance. Heck, you could make a "How To Boom Stuff" tutorial and I think a lot of people would really benefit from it. I've been so intimidated by booming (both lights and mics) that on my sets, no one gets a hair light and it's lav mics for everyone :(
I need to pull those stickers 🤣! I hope he knows his cart has some fame now!
Great idea! That seems so simple to me, but others might not be aware of the way I do it. Thank you for the feedback and idea!
I noticed you had an overhead suspension for your camera rig. I'm not sure if it's easy rig but I was wondering what you recommend
I use the easyrig vario 5 with stabil G2. I recommend only using easyrig and not any off brand systems. They will end up hurting your back, breaking or damaging your camera.
Much appreciated. Thanks @@PDMokry
thanks for posting your setup, Am learning a lot, but but but, is having a van full of aputure lighting a flex? a few years Dps would laugh hysterically. :V :V :V I guess aputure has come a long way. Great job tho!
I get requests for Aputure lights over any other lights in my market. No flex on brand at all, just a flex of my offerings.
I also remember the days of the cheaper Aputure lights.
@@PDMokry in the Chicago Area, were I do camera operator, best boy, PA some times gaffer, or anything. I really dont see a lot of Aputure. I also work with a lot of older crew, so I keep seeing your kino flo, arri, hives, Mole-Richardson, I guess Aputure is what kids used now in days hahahah. I do start to see some nanlite stuff tho. any how, keep up the good work!
What’s your Van’s make, model and year? I’m going to be purchasing one and I’m head deep into weighing options. Thanks!

Interesante
This is truly fantastic. But for a normal interview, it’s difficult to be able to charge the client all the equipment used to do this…
Thank you! This is not a setup for a basic interview. But when the budget, time, location and client all align. . . It is perfect for this!
hi brother what focal length did you use please
35mm + 85mm
This looks nice but I have feeling and it makes me nervous that on the wide shoot he sits more to the right of center and it really makes me nervous looking at it.
Nooooo!!!! Thanks for catching that!
What lens and aperture been used on the wide shot?
50mm & 85mm unsure what aperture
@@PDMokry Thx for sharing. For some reason I though it's somethin between 24 and 35mm, but I should get a hint from the position of both cameras. They are kinda the same distance from the talent so focal length could not be that far apart :D.
Anyway the results are very impressive. Is 50mm GM 1.2? :D
4:34 _"oil absorbing wipes"_
What's the name of the product that you use? Also, do you ever use clear oil absorbing face power or do you always use wipes?
Powder would require a new brush every use or cleaning. Most men would refuse powder. These work like a champ:
amzn.to/47oaZtV
@@PDMokry that's a good point about needing multiple brushs. I just ordered some these and tested a wipe on my own face. It certainly works well! My only concern is that it could ruin or removing existing makeup. Is that something you've encountered when using these?
@@SimplestUsername If you avoid rubbing with them and lightly press them all over, it should work.
You my friend have a lot to say! I'm a noob just gettin' started, and grateful I found you! (just sub'd) [ I got here via Josh White, so thank him for me? ]
I appreciate it! I’m just paying it back, I started learning about photography here on YouRube back in 2006. Glad I can finally help others. Thanks to Josh for the support too!
Hi! What’s lut do you use?
Phantom LUT’s
do you have a AC power in your van?
Yes, it is built in, but only runs when on. I have an inverter also.
What lenses ?
Sony 35mm 1.4 and Sony 85mm 1.8

@@PDMokry like I’m seriously impressed and need to take a more scientific artistic approach to image production like this pure talent man keep going deserves 100k views
Impressive setup and equipment, especially the Aputure 1200. 😮

Como
Looks cool but background levels looked too hot for how lit he was in my opinion. Maybe you didn’t have enough juice to raise his levels, understandably.
We were maxed out on the output, but could have switched things up to get a bit more out of it. I am very pleased with the results, but respect your input. Thank you!
@@PDMokry I think it looks good taking a second look. Nice job. I think for me, psychologically it's a bit weird to have such bright highlights that suddenly stop right behind him but does add a lot of visual interest.
Got recommended this, great content bro. I subbed & hit you on IG. I'm in Dallas too!
That is awesome, we will have to link up! I want to get a meetup together with all us North Texas folks.
