I have an 06, personally I love the styling. Didn’t quite get the retro revive like the camaro, mustang or challenger but it’s still a great car over all
If they had got a little bit of the retro revive they might still be around, or atleast stuck it out a little longer. But then again I thought the Chevy SS's were pretty slick looking and those went away in a heart beat

I've worked on my LS swapped e30 since last September. This past Sunday I started the car for the first time. All those weekends spent working on the car finally paid off

I was taking an espresso machine repair class and the instructor was talking about the size difference between water pumps that determines how much traffic your machine can handle. I asked if you could swap out the pumps to be able to make more coffee. He didn't quite get what I was asking because I'm not great at talking. Eventually, I just asked him if you could LS swap your espresso machine's pump, and he said, "Hell, yeah! You a Chevy girl?!" gave me a hearty high five and proceeded to tell me how to swap in a bigger pump.

Out of the 11 cars/trucks we’ve owned, 4 of them have had 5.3 liter powerplants. Only truck that was different was my 06 lbz turbo diesel in the gooseneck hauler. 😊👍

I’ve seen a video here, on CZcams, where someone put two LS engines together to make a v12 LS engine. I remember the I saw comment something like “wow even the V12 gets an LS”😂

Did an ls3 swap in my c5 corvette and did a stage 3 BTR cam. Best decision I’ve ever made. Took a long time almost 2 years but totally worth it. People Make it sound easy….it’s not.
Asking for reference, how much did it cost for the whole build?
@@stonyfanatic3785 well excluding the car. I sourced the motor myself from eBay for 3000 then all the parts an labor was just shy of 17,000. They did do some extra suspension work and a few other things. But just the motor being swapped in and necessary components motor and all was about 17k.

My 2012 Camaro SS has the 400 HP L99 6.2 liter. Manuals of the same year got 426 HP.
E Linzmeyer manuals has the LS3 and autos have the L99 right?
Corvettes generally have a great interior as well. It's a great experience all around.

I just made a valiant attempt at launching my CZcams channel and hopefully my long successful career as a youtuber🤔 ... in one of my initial vids i may or may not have confessed to being your dad😎 ... either way youre awesome and I hope and pray for good health for you! I built a 93 Formula Firebird about 8 years ago with a 6.0lq4 and to this day its still that original old truck motor with several track event wins and even a track Championship in 2018 plus a ton of street race wins and 6 trips from Delaware to LSFest East!! My buddy and I also built a 68 Bird with the same setup we also raced/showed everywhere including lsfest! Now the headlights on my 93 sadly have blown motors bbuutt can easily be popped up and down with a drill and a 10mm to go street dig racing at night! Get well son! ✌

My second car was a $500 1991 Pontiac Sunbird in this baby blue with a full colour-matched interior. Me, a fledgling mechanic at the time, and a friend who was an actual big boy mechanic, had numerous discussions about putting an LS and a 5 speed in that thing for a ridiculous sleeper. Sadly, it never came to fruition but I still want to find an old Sunbird and cram a V8 into it some day.
My lifted Denali with it's 5.7 Vortec is an absolute unit. Love that engine!

There are a couple really excellent ones he forgot to mention. Off the top of my head, the LSA was the 6.2 liter supercharged engine that was in the Camaro ZL1 and 2nd gen Caddy CTS-V and was a 560 hp beast.

All LS engines have the same engine mounting location. Which is amazing. Gen 3 have 24 tooth reluctor wheel and gen 4 have 58 tooth so you definitely need to know the difference

Jacob Agatston Exactly. The G8 GT had the L76 6.0L (LS2 derived) as well. Not to mention (literally) all the Camaro Z28s, SS’s and Firebird Formula and Trans Ams of the late 4th generation plus all the 5th and 6th generation Camaros.

Great video. 1 major downside to the lt4 being direct injected is that the valves get no fuel wash, so things get much dirtier inside much faster and seem to require more maintenance. Not a positive point for the reliability side of things, but if you have the money, it’s worth it.
I have renewed respect for pushrod engines, this is amazing. Great video, Pumphrey!

I just finished an LS swap on a 74 Caprice Classic a couple of weeks ago. Took the engine and trans out of an 04 Tahoe.
I am more of a Ford person, but I do love me an LS engine. American V8's is where my heart is.

Some say that the early Vette's with the overhead cam engines (help from LOTUS) - combined with the knowledge that Cadillac was using an overhead cam V8 got 40rd and a lot of the others 'lured in' to thinking that they knew something! In fact, they did! 40rd started putting their car engines into pickups and failed miserably - but that failure, as 40rd owners know, was paid for by the customers... Now, what's 40rd doing with their "big gasser" (as far as cam location?)???? Oh, yeah, criticizing GM and MOPAR for sticking with overhead valves - calling them 'old technology', but 'secretly' going back to get a little DEPENDABILITY and LOW END TORQUE for their trucks... HMMMMMM. Do you think it was just a 'bait and switch' to get 40rd to go 'all in' with overhead cam engines???

Seriously! How can you not mention F-Body's. Could argue that they were more responsible for popularizing the engine than the Corvette since it was the first affordable option with an LS. You could get a fucking LS1 equipped sports car for the same price as a V6 Accord/Camry

Great episode, as always, but good lord the volume was out of control. Been on a Donut Media binge and this is the only episode I needed to adjust my speakers between 100% and 10% to hear what's being said and not blowing out my eardrums during burnouts and screaming. Guess James is just really excited about the LS.

Early C6 Corvettes had the LS2.
5th gen Camaros had the LS3 (Video shows 5th gen while mentioning 6th gen).
6th gen Camaros got the LT1.
I dont k ow why the started calling them the LT1 again for the 6th gen when the Camaros 97 and older had their engine named the LT1 as well
@@pollutedcrimson nothing new to gm, there are three LT1's to date. You're talking about the gen 2, there is a gen 1 used in the early 70's and then the gen 3 which the 6th gen camaros and c7 corvettes use.

An all aluminum pushrod V8 with Fuel injection is brilliant! Not only is it light; but, because it has NO overhead cams, you can fit it into many applications of engine bays…
I LS swapped an 08 Honda Pilot, a 93 240sx, and a Ram 50. All sick af. All sold for profit too.

my dad owns a 2004 Yukon denali XL and it came with an LQ9 with the 6.0 liter V8 and because of how much low end torques-power it had, it lasted 350,000 miles

I have LQ9 out of a 04 Escalade going in my 1971 Pontiac GT-37 LeMans with a 4L80E. I drive a a LQ4 Silverado HD daily, and I also have a stock 2010 CTS-V LSA 6.2L for more power baby !!!

There was also an LSA that was supercharged from factory, which came in the HSV Gen-F GTS (just a Oofed up holden VF commodore) pretty sick, they go hard!
The LSA was also in the 2nd gen CTS-V and 5th gen Camaro ZL1, I don’t know why they left it out.
