  • Let's just say this cedar chest was a bit of a challenge. At one point I seriously hated it. But that's how most DIY projects go - am I right?!
I changed up the plan a bit, did something a little different than I intended, and I love the outcome! This is the cedar chest we use in our bedroom, and it just got a makeover!

This piece looks great and yes I have had pieces turn out different than I had planned. Was in a hurry to crackle paint a shelf because I had to get my kids from school. Thought my crackle medium was dry enough to put the top layer of paint on it but it was still a little tacky. I painted over it anyway and got much larger crackle lines but it gave the shelf a really unique look and I ended up really loving it. I knew better not to paint it before the crackle was completely dry but I'm glad I did it because it looked great and I ended up doing a few more pieces that way to get that look on purpose. Have a great day. Hugs from the southeast coast of Florida🌴😎💙😎🌴

Isn't that just how it goes?! Sometimes that's how great things are invented too!!! I bet that crackle shelf was awesome! Thanks for watching, always good to see your name in my inbox! Love from Pittsburgh!

This looks great and gives me some ideas on how you can make something that didn't turn out like you had envisioned into something you can be really fond of. I love the tone-on-tone effect and the raised stenciling - two excellent ideas for transforming my old tile coffee table. I want each tile to have a distinctive design, and these finishes will be ones I can use to keep the overall design from being too busy. Great video, and thanks for the inspiration!

That sounds like a great idea. Yes, sometimes the process is not linear, but turns out even better than expected! I love being able to inspire and give ideas!! Thanks for watching!

Thank you! Yes, I do like it - I've been seeing this tone on tone embossed look on furniture, so perhaps it's a new trend ;)

Thanks for sharing your “mistake”! This is so beautiful and inspiring! I want to do it on everything I own! Probably harder than I think tho. You make it look so easy!

That's exactly how I started, I painted one thing at a time, until everything I owned was painted or refinished ;) I think you can do it - it's often easier than you think!!
