I met Kirsty years ago. She was wonderful. Very funny and very down to earth. We spent 20 minutes talking about her dad as I was just getting into song writing. RIP Kirsty.

I had to wear a white suit and white shoes to my sisters wedding back in 70s, after that I was Marty Hopkirk for years!! Was a big fan really so hats off to Mike . Thanks for the fun story telling . Guy, just watching Season 3 of the French and Saunders show.... fantastic to watch Kirsty's performances. It was 'Don't Come the Cowboy' which got me in to Kite. And she was such a beautiful lady.

Any reason to celebrate Kirsty MacColl is enough to forgive the abomination that is a 5-string bass. What a wonderful singer (some wise person said she was an incredible lead vocalist, and a fabulous group of backup singers, all in one person) and, by gum, a beautiful woman. Lovely to hear your memories of her, although I appreciate it must be bittersweet for you, Guy. Kite is a belter of an album. And Days has one of my favourite drum moments everywhere, when after a chorus-verse-bridge there's the sound of the mighty Mel Gaynor chopping down a tree with his snare drum. Simple fill, executed perfectly. I was also gonna say "And I love your bass playing on Innocence! Please do a vid on that one!" but then I scuttled off to check the personnel, and it turned out to be Mr Palladino. Ho hum. That lanky bugger gets everywhere. Your waffle comes with the maple syrup of positive vibes. Keep 'em coming.

They say never meet your idols, but meeting you through CZcams and the book, I have to keep reminding myself what a profile you have in the industry, because you come across as so easy going and not as inaccessible as I would expect someone of your stature. The so called 'waffle' is endearing and what sets it aside from other intense CZcams videos. You are a great storyteller (oops back to the Ronnie Corbett chair) and it should always be encouraged, these great stories will never be known unless you tell them. Small point - no one ever complains when Billy Connelly goes off on a tangent or waffles so why would people complain about you!

I'm old enough to have been around when the original came out but when this cover was released then I was able to appreciate it all the more. Great to see you back.. Back in the day, when I was living in Massachusetts in the U.S., "to kite a check" meant cashing it at a supermarket or other store, knowing it would take two or three days to clear from your bank account. So a mini-loan until funds become available. This was in the 1970's - I may have used this technique to buy just-announced tickets for Dylan's Rolling Thunder Review. (Almost an instant sellout and twas a day or two before payday and I was skint.) Can't do it now - damned interwebs.
