About the grenade comparison: Mafia is set in the time when weaponry was not so modern. The grenades at that time were inactive in water. There were special bombs for Marine Warfare.

Few missions, empty map (just a few useless side mission which have nothing to do with the storyline), you can't swim, you can't explore anything, you can't interact with anything. You can't drive a boat unless you fall on one from a bridge and almost die.

Just a normal day in Franklin's life
The glass breaking in Mafia might not be as bad as you think. Modern cars have tempered and reinforced glass to prevent shards flying off on an accident. But the old cars on Mafia would have had simple glass, so the shards would be bigger, and it would break easier. So, actually, both games perfectly depict how each glass break.

Te technology that was used to make car windows in modern vehicles and in those from mid-30's was totally different. I think that devs did a great job in both games.
Cars back then were literal tanks in my opinion, nowadays majority of cars have plastic bumpers and such.

Yeah. Modern cars has tempered glass mostly. Reducing passengers injury to glass should it scatter. Older cars uses laminated glass.
And for plastic bumper I think it's also because pedestrian safely and better crumple zones. Older cars may be made like a tank but interior impact will be much harsher in event of crash.
@@TimDragonDeckers I see your point, but I think cars manufacturers are slowly stripping more areas where structure is needed and they just put airbags to compensate for it. If we looked at a car 20 years ago we'd see less airbags and more shielded areas, as nowadays it's more for weight reduction.

I still think that Mafia 2 is the best game in the Mafia Series.
Although they didn't really make use of the Open World aspect since there really isn't much you can spend your money and only Main missions, no side missions.
The details is amazing, and there's a PDF file of how they made it.

in the original they'd arrest you and put hand cuff on you
