    Just a heads up for anyone wanting to go out there. As of now, you'll need a four wheel drive with a bit of a lift to get out there. There's been some wash out and there's no room to turn around if you decide you're in over your head. Not a good place to get stuck.

    I would have let you guys check out my two claims there but I just traded them to another prospector about 6 months ago. Fairly easy detecting but you will work digging those targets. My last hole there was 20" deep using a GPZ-7000. Great job finding those two nuggets and it was interesting hearing Steve's reasoning for checking that specific area. It's great seeing these Kevin. 🙂

      Glad you enjoyed it! Definitely had my share of deep targets, but I'll still dig 'em all! ;)

    I've been wanting to head to rye patch to swing my detector it seems though as the only claim that the GPA has in rye patch is a Tung stin claim from what I've read in the book Is there an area that's open to the public where I could swing my detector please help I've been A GPAA member for years now and I would really like to do some rye patch nugget hunting

      There are areas within the Rye Patch State Recreation Area that allow metal detecting. This is from the FAQ at parks.nv.gov/parks/rye-patch "Metal detecting is permitted in designated areas with the permission of the park supervisor. Please contact the individual park directly with any questions you may have." Good luck out there. It's a great spot!

    Kevin, do you know what Tom Massie is up to these days?

    • @GoldProspectors
      @GoldProspectors  Před rokem +1

      Tom is enjoying retirement up in Alaska, still chasing that gold! We're forever grateful for him and all the service he gave to the gold prospecting community for so many years. Stay tuned. I'm sure we'll get him to make a guest appearance on a future video, and maybe even an article or two in Gold Prospectors Magazine.

      @@GoldProspectors , thank God for answering the question on Tom’s whereabouts. I’ve been asking for years, with no reply. My family and I felt like we lost family members when Tom and crew left the airwaves. I’ve been trying to track them down, via internet, to no avail. Seemed like he and the Gold Fever show were erased from history. Not to mention Perry’s Prospecting America, a continuing of Buzzard’s show after his passing. Cancel culture doing its thing. I saw a show some time ago with Kia in it. She was alive and well, living in Colorado.
      I really appreciate the information. Whoever the person is at GPAA that wrote this, God bless you and your family. I am in tears (joy). We would absolutely love to see the Massie’s appearance some time!

      Ryan, thank you for your service! And, thank you for the kind words. Perry is also enjoying retirement and is doing well. Tom's stepson continues running the GPAA. You can read his editor's note in each issue of Gold Prospectors Magazine. This is Greg replying, VP @ GPAA & LDMA. I produced over 100+ episodes of Gold Fever with Tom, so I definitely know the feeling when that era came to a close, but rest assured we have a lifetime ahead of continuing the legacy that the Buzzard blessed us with so long ago. God bless you and your family as well, and happy prospecting :)
