All current land rovers a wading capability of 600mm (24”) or more, most car wheels are about 24-26” diameter with tyres, so they can cope just fine with that.

I own a discovery sport hse myself.. as much as I love it, I doubt it has the same wading capacity as a vogue with air suspension.

For all the landcover this was easy. All of the newer models can face up to 900mm and this was less than half! the other cars must get do excited thinking that they are they same when they aren't.

@Lewis Barton Depends if it cut out because of electrics of hydrolocking.
He's maybe taken the spark plugs out and turning it over to see if there's water in the cylinders and to clear it out. It could just be that it's cut out but not damaged and a quick clear out could get it going again. They probably have targets to get so many cars on the side of the road going etc.

@@blackshuck615 nah. On these engines the roads and pistons are usually fine. It's the valves that end up getting mangled and then the engine has zero compression and won't start. The chain or belt can snap too.
@@philje123 I had 4 in from the Dec 23rd floods and one was a Discovery, all trashed. Short conrods .

I drove through deeper than this in a ford focus there was a transit custom stranded the water was up to its bonnet but the trick is to not drive into it at 30 mph like an idiot
The trick is knowing the height of the air intake
@@trevorshields7347 well yeah but even if the water is deeper than the intake which in my case it was you can make a wave by accelerating and slamming on the brakes then following in the wake just gotta be careful the wave doesn't die down🤣
The moment you decelerate allows water to start flooding the mufflers. Drove my Toyota Hiace through waters up to the windshield with family member on board.
What you do not want is a moronic driver in front that decides to slow down, blocking your path.
Maintain your acceleration...

I've always been glad that my way home, when ever I visit Rufford; isn't through that ford, I've always hated the thought of driving through it, even when it's at it's lowest lol. I wouldn't dream of doing what the first two did! My little Aygo would float away lol.
Mind blowing to see the number of headers that don't know how to deal with a water obstacle. Refreshing to see the number that do.
Holy hell those TD5 Disco 2's sound gnarly. I Thought the V8's in the states sounded good but daaamn
All it takes are a few simple mods to get that noise, straight thru exhaust, K&N air filter & a snorkel larger intercooler & reprogramming the ECU. Mine has all those mods & then some. it'll wade at 1.2 metres without problems deeper if I go real slow or else the water comes in thru the heater matrix.

@@cjallen233 As a V8 diesel fan I love big cube motors which are near impossible to get in England unless you use truck motors but you just can't get them under the hood of British cars. TD5 5 cylinder 2.5l diesel in standard tune is about 140 bhp mine runs 250bhp 360ftlb at 21lb of boost but returns 36miles to an imperial gallon of liquid coal

Keep them coming these are hilarious 😂. It's all to do with how low the air intake is. Once water gets into the internals of the engine it's wrecked and because they drove into a flood deliberately their insurance won't cover them 😂

1:15 - textbook speed and approach. Just fast enough to create a small bow wave but slow enough not to throw water into the engine bay. The SsssssssssangYong that followed - great driving. This ford certainly gives the incompetent drivers a hefty repair bill.
I’m guessing the Ford isn’t as deep as this in the summer!

The Disco 5, pushing the bow wave ahead like a pro with Beethoven playing as they drive the kids to ballet. Modded Disco 1/2 had banjo music playing. Honourable mention to Castle Energy pickup for a nice drive too.

Land rovers have the air box in the cabin of the vehicle so the who engine bay can be submerged in water

@@AlarakTheHighLord Erm...no they don't. The oil bath air filter housing is on the driver side of the engine bay at the rear. That's why there is a hole in the wing there.
