Heard this one evening on John Peel’s show - must be early 80s I was revising for my O’ Levels. Loved it at first listen … overwhelming nostalgia is putting it mildly.

Mary Boone sounded great on the daily show. Different building, different sound crew. They still sound great here I just prefer how things sounded on the Daily Show a hair more. It must be hard getting the levels of all those different instruments right on stage.
I was thinking that too. Mary Boone was such a fantastic performance. This one felt a little off to me.
I’m pretttttyyyy sure it has something do with SNL’s sound engineers. Also, I think being on SNL puts different kind of pressure on artists. When they performed Unbelievers and Diane Young back in 2013, it sounded decent but there is way better live performances of these songs, especially from festivals.
