You wouldn't believe what's in the Tacoma WA homeless shelter. I want to say thank you to the people that work there. It's got to be one of the most dangerous jobs on the planet..
I was fortunate enough to grow up in Austin Texas in the 80s and 90s. It was an absolutely glorious time to be there, very light traffic and no homeless in sight. Cheap food, cheap rent, cheap concerts. I left in 2007, and the few times I came back to visit it was unrecognizable. This once amazing city has been absolutely decimated. I have no desire to ever return.
What do you think is the cause of this destruction ??
Drug free housing for the shelter means many won't go 🧟
Bigger cities need pod rooms. Small spaces for single and a little bigger for parents w child or family. Bed, table chair sink closet key to private room for limited time
No they don’t need to be given free anything. They need opportunities to work and EARN their living.
Are you going to Pay for the Pods
US might hit its carry capacity with one third of the population homeless, and two thirds unemployed
Anyone seen Diana Grey?...Maybe someone should ask her about it...Her Linkedin account still says 'Homeless Strategy Officer at City of Austin'.
She resigned. It made the news a couple of weeks ago. Now they have an interim officer.
@@ChrisZ70 She resigned two days before 'irregularities' were reportedly found in the financials of her office. Not suspicious at all...
Most, if not all of those who are unhoused move into a unit, bring their same way of living to the unit. So now all you have is the problem with poor hygiene and unsanitary conditions making a comeback and many times ruining the unit. For families who are unhoused, when a family moves into a unit, they will stop paying their full or portion of rent, not pay their utilities and are in constant need of financial assistance. When their rent is in the arrears, then eviction is the next step. So begins the cycle. Rapid rehousing does more harm to the individual especially to a family.
No it does not. Only a few have problems. Mostly those with severe mental disorders and refusing treatment. Mental treatment should be mandatory.
They need to make housing that has dignity, that gives people a sense of pride, community, and safety... that is how you change people's lives.
No, these people need to stop living off welfare and work
@@averageuser2027 yeah just work! 🙄 because nobody just has a hard time in life, they just choose to be losers! Nobody is born with health and development issues beyond their control, nobody just gets f'd in life... and all jobs pay enough to live in this town. Ignorance must make your life better, because that's an embarrassing view 😞
27 million can pay for permanent housing
What about the community first village.
Texas are being run by smart leaders. California government has a lot to learn from Texas.
Move the shelter to westlake
The need to pass legislation putting rules on profit margins for people in the housing industry. We wouldn't be in such a bad spot if the greed wasn't beyond out of control!!!!
Or people can work and earn to get things they need. No handouts. Housing is, in fact, a privilege. That's why those of us who work earn, and save, have larger houses, and often times, more than one. Not really anyone else's problem if some of the population won't work as hard.
@@FordBroncoGurl OH okay mister high and mighty, I'm sure that whatever work you do sitting on your rear end behind a desk is soooo much harder than what nurses do, or the people who build your homes, or take care of your spoiled brats 🙄 don't lie to yourself in order to push down your guilty conscience and inflate your ignorant ego. Christian? I'm sure Jesus would be so much prouder of day traders, casino runners and crypto platform workers than care takers, trash collection workers and firefighters 🙄 🤢
Send them all to California
😅
Making an industry out of homelessness is not the answer.
