Not gonna lie, as a father myself, and someone’s who’s father wasn’t there when I was a kid…his tribute to his pops got me. A father’s impact often gets forgotten. Watching his son reach the pinnacle in the sport they both loved was probably everything he ever wanted. But having his son honor him in that moment, had to have meant the world. Amazing.

My dad passed away a couple years ago and we didn't have a relationship at all. We we like strangers to each other. I am so proud of you D Wade. Incredibly heartfelt and wholesome speech! We in the Hall of Fame dawg. I love the way he started and ended crediting his dad. He gave everyone their props including watching MJ growing up in Chicago and the great AI. That tribute to his dad had me tearing up. Normally people are like momma we made it. Glad to see a black man standing throughout the life of his kid and being seen getting the credit as so many are behind the scenes taking care of their kids daily but getting a bad rap by the media. This was such a great speech.
