  • How to replace the torque strut (upper control arm) on a Mercedes C230 Kompressor. These bushings will cause poor handling and knocking sounds when failed. In my case the passenger side bushing ruptured in my driveway leaving a oil stain.

      PB Blaster to break down rust, impact gun, two box end wrenches put together for added leverage or a big ass breaker bar.

    Quickcrete makes a powder that obsorbs oil stains from the concrete and it works really good

    Hate that about your driveway. Honda got me with my 2011 civic si back in the day. Had a good bit of work done to it but before I got a chance to swap to solid engine mounts I had one of them tear. The engine bay was so clean you could eat off it, then it had oil all over after that. Took forever to get cleaned. Although not as bad as a driveway :/ probably doing this to my w203 soon. Good video man. Actually got here looking for videos of c class with 30mm wheel spacers lol.

      Definitely a dumb design in my opinion took like 6 months for that oil to fade out in the driveway. Glad you found the video even if it sent you down a rabbit hole. 😂 Thanks for watching!

      Really the only way to ensure you won’t damage the joint but a hammer and solid snacks can also break it loose but could damage it while doing this.

    did you have it aligned after this? was there anything that needed adjusting?

    • @f.s.detailgarage7869
      @f.s.detailgarage7869  Před 3 lety +1

      Nope those are fixed mounted arms no adjustment. In my case alignment was good before so I didn’t need to align the vehicle after replacing.

    Was looking for the torque specs but apparantly your smarter than mercedes-benz, you dont need to torque anything to spec. Mercedes must just hire engineers to give them something to do. secondly, you adjust your alignment settings by using shims between the steering knuckle and strut as well as the tie rod (for toe in/out). And yes, you do need to get it aligned after you replace the control arms.
