- Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars are 8.5-point underdogs against the Patrick Mahomes led Kansas City Chiefs in Kansas City this weekend. I'm a Chiefs fan and I have no problem with what Trevor Lawrence said. I do think he may have inspired the crowd to get pretty loud this weekend, but I don't think he said anything disrespectful.
I agree. I think his comment will hype up the crowd a little more, but if Jacksonville loses it'll have more to do with the fact that the Chiefs are just the better team.
Im nervous for the Chiefs for one reason…. They scheduled this game on Saturday and it felt purposeful.
T-Law’s Saturday undefeated record vs. the juggernaut Chiefs and Mahomes. This could be a shoot out, 80 plus points scored type playoff game. The next generation vs. the current generation 🤯 23 vs 27 at the QB position. Weird how Mahomes is already the old established guy. His second MVP trophy will validate that in a few weeks.
I know Lawrence got accolades and praise for this comeback vs Chargers but honestly, it was less his skill and more the Chargers absurd coaching. Now he faces King Mahomes and Chancellor Reid, and he will find it a huge jump in quality.

I'm from a city about an hour outside of KC, and have lived in KC for the last 7 years, and I'll say this - possibly due to lack of natural elements of entertainment (mountains, beaches, etc.) KC is known for its food, and sports fandom. What Trevor said isn't disrespectful, but it will ABSOLUTLEY make that crowd be as loud as possible. I guarantee there is a good chance they will break that "loudness" record.
KC resident here. With the weather expected this Saturday, they won't break the record. Cold weather always muffles the games a bit, with the gloves and scarfs and whatnot.

All Trevor really said in the pre draft process is that he doesn’t let football define him. That’s a healthy outlook and important. These guys aren’t robots made for our entertainment. Media just runs away with anything they can these days.
He played his college ball in Death Valley. I personally love the atmosphere at Arrowhead and think it's the closest NFL thing to a big time college football environment. Obviously when he was at Clemson the crowd was quiet on offense, but he definitely knows what 80K+ sound like.

To be fair it was actually Trevor’s dad who said (on draft night no less) “football isn’t the most important thing in the world. Trevor could quit tomorrow and still be successful in life” which at the time I hated… that’s bad PR for someone who’s about to give you millions. But to Shannon’s point I agree I think he matured and cares about winning now because he lost like 4 games in 7 years and then his rookie season came around and all they did was lose. I think he thought he was going to step on the scene and be Brady or manning. And after the urban meyer debacle I’m happy to see him focused

As a resident of Jacksonville, Shannon is straight cappin about Jags stadium. Literally one of the loudest places I’ve ever been. Capacity is a little over 67,000 at TIAA Bank field and over 70,000 people were at the game against the Chargers. Do your homework unc 🗣️🗣️

No surprise from Trevor. Trevor seems like the type of person in where he’s secured. However, playing at Arrowhead is a huge, crazy atmosphere and Trevor doesn’t understand the magnitude of playing at that field enough.
Trevor played in some of the biggest games when he was at Clemson. Now there is certainly a colossal difference between college and here at arrowhead but I think he'll manage it well enough to make some plays.

The crowds at a high school is nowhere close to a college or pro stadium but the expectations are just as big. The stage there at Arrowhead won't be too big for him. All the time I have watched him over 8 years he has never come across as being overwhelmed. That guy is on an even keel. Skip and Shannon thought that he didn't care but he does very much but it just doesn't show all the time. When he converted that two point conversion that's the most excited I have ever seen him. That meant a whole lot to him.

Football is my favorite sport and I think the NFL is uniquely interesting because of the draft and the cost cap etc...but I always have to chuckle a little bit when they talk about how loud the crowds are. Just because Im used to german soccer crowds and those are just a different kind of beast. But the fan culture in general is different. In america it feels more like a family thing to go to a game. Over here its often closer to a riot than anything.

As a life long CHIEFS fan, Trevor meant no disrespect with what he said he's a Jaguar, and he was speaking up for there fans. I will say this that man scares me. I'm seriously worried about this game. Doug has turned that team around, and given that man confidence and Trevor has done nothing but win trophies at every level he's played at but the NFL and this is his first run at the Lombardi Trophy.

excited for this weekend as a eagles fan although im very nervous because this isnt the same giants team that we played a month ago and beat 48-22. i got the eagles winning in OT 34-28. then i have chiefs beating the jags 35-30 i think the jags will give the chiefs a run for their money. then Sf- 38 Dallas- 29 and Bengals- 41 Bills 27. i think the bills are not as good as people say they are i have burrow throwing for 350+ easily

Yeah, Jacksonville being successful makes the fans cheer harder because they have something to cheer for.
