Awesome looking headphones, David.
As a person who also has the T60 Argon this is a nice review. Mostly agree with what you said, but I am actually more of a V-shape lover (oh no!) so I actually preferred the T60 Argon with Alpha pads, especially since I thought it separated sound better. I have other headphones I can use for more neutral listening. Even though you said you didn't prefer those pads I'm glad you gave them a shot and I completely understand considering your sound preferences.
Awesomeness. Thanks for your thoughts and impressions.
Well I just put in an order on these, thank you for the confirmation bias boost :)
Look forward to hearing your impressions.
Hi Dave. I stopped the stock pads for zmf lambskin one. Very pleased with them.
I am glad you enjoy them with ZMF lambskin pads; I didn't have those to try just the Dan Clark Alpha pad and Cascadia Impact pads. I didn't care for them with anything but the ZMF suede pads as anything else made them more v-shaped and grainy upper mids.
Is the treble more elevated with those lambskin pads?
I'm about 5 weeks into the wait time for Modhouse to mail me my pair. Very excited to hear them.
Awesomeness. I look forward to hearing your thoughts and impressions.
Hey man don't lose hope on the delivery Modhouse will deliver.
@@Starfall119 Week 7 of the wait. I'm hanging in there lol
@@steven2640 I am 8 weeks in on the wait for my T50RP Argons I can't wait to get them
@@kalebthomas3598 I have the T50 mk2 Argon and I still enjoy it as a wide sound stage, good detail and more fun sounding headphone. Mk3 refines it even more so I'm sure you'll enjoy them. Did you get them balanced because they do sound their best with lots of power?
Finally got these. Do play marvelously! Really better than T50RP Argon. Think you describe the T60RP Argon perfectly.
Awesomeness. Glad you enjoy them. Thanks for the kind words, greatly appreciated ❤️
Nice job Dave. Certainly have a unique look that is all their own. You must have convinced many since Modhouse is sold out at the moment.
I can't take credit for them being sold out lol. Thanks for the kind words.
@@TheHonestAudiophile Ahhh, but I can. :-)
If I can't get the argon mk3 with cowhide pads if not then t60 argon with cowhide too cool down the highs and bring up the bass and mids like it did for the argon mk3 pads please
Great to see you reviewing these! I bought a balanced T50 Argon a while ago and sadly didnt like them because of how V shaped they were (my least favorite signature) you are making me want to check these out since you mentioned these are better with the mids and lowered at the highs. I mainly listen to heavy metal, do you think these would be good for those or should I perhaps look for another headset? If you could try a song for me and let me know I would be extremely grateful. Insomnium - Pale morning star.
Metal isn't my default genre but I do dabble in some older metal music. I found it to be adequate but not the best genre for the T60rp Argon. The guitars were a little harsher then they should be on some tracks.
@@TheHonestAudiophile Thank you very much for your reply, I was fearing so. I mainly use my 6xx for metal, when you do listen to this genre what headphone do you go with?
@@ItsJustChase to be honest, I only listen to metal when I am reviewing gear so it is whatever is on my ears for review at the time.
@@ItsJustChase i listen to a lot of metal on the stock T60rp. Amps will make a huge difference. I love the way the guitars sound on it.
What’s up, Dave! 12:00 Your comment on liking the new iFi audio sound signature got me really interested. (1) Are you going to be reviewing the iFi Diablo? (2) Does that mean that you’ve noticed a change in the sound signature from any previous products in particular?
iFi Audio Diablo will get a review but it's gonna be a few weeks.
Yes, the new micro iDSD Signature and Neo share a similar sound signature as the Diablo, it isn't as warm and thick as the Black Label or even the Zen DAC. There is a more airy and detailed approach.

Thanks for the reviews.
Can you please tell me what is the best soundstaging IEM? Like the widest.
The widest soundstage I have heard on an IEM is the Drop Empire Ears Zeus.
You are welcome for the reviews, thank you for watching, commenting and subscribing.
How are the dynamics and instrument separation on these?
Hi agan, Dave. I'm curious if you have heard the Drop Panda headphones. I am looking for a new pair of headphones - specifically something planar magnetic. I bought a pair of the Panda's for my son and they are quite impressive. I've also been wanting these t60rp that you reviewed. I was wondering if on chance you might have heard the pandas because I am wondering if you had any thoughts on how these would compare. From what I can tell on the Panda's, the bass sounds amazing. still fat but absolute - does not bleed into the rest of the tracks I listen to. I'm curious if this is an attribute of planar? It does help that I really like the look of the T60rp. Love your videos... very straightforward and I do find quite helpful. Thank you!
I haven't heard the Drop Panda, sorry.
The only thing that I have heard with the name "Drop Panda" are mechanical keyboard switches....until now lol. Never knew they were a thing but they look good and now I am curious about them.
Great review! New sub. Would these sound great listening to classical music? Any suggestions for classical listening? Many thanks
Thanks for subscribing, greatly appreciated. Welcome to the channel.
The Fostex T60rp are amazing with classical and jazz music but you need a powerful amp for them.
The Sennheiser 660s are amazing with classical music, I listen mostly to jazz, classical and acoustical music and the 660s is one of my reference headphones.
@@TheHonestAudiophile great, thanks for your feedback!
My pleasure, you're welcome.
Hi there! Just found your channel and really like this review. Have a question for you about the fostex t50rp and t60rp. For context I already have meze 99’s and use them with my audio quest cobalt dragonfly. Just bought my son a pair of drop pandas (which are a-mazing!). I’m interested to try some planer magnetics - and my question is if you think buying the stock fostex t50 or t60rp without the mods are a good listening experience. Or do you typically find that they are just so so without the mods?
I haven't heard a T60rp stock. Here is my review of a stock T50rp, don't judge its an old review lol
czcams.com/video/65_BerdyZcI/video.html
I'd recommend an T60 Argon mod.
Thanks for the kind words, greatly appreciated 🥰
I see you teasing us with the TorAudio tube amp. Will you be reviewing that for us? What are your impressions so far, is it worth it? Thanks. :D
Tor Audio Roger review coming very soon.
Spoiler alert 📢 🥰
@@TheHonestAudiophile Thank you!
@@stevechu8201 my pleasure, you're welcome 😊
Great review man, how do they compare with m1060 mod??
If I buy t60rp stock and change to that pad, do they will sound good??
Have no idea, sorry. Only used stock pads on T60 Argon. Haven't heard M1060 in several years, can't remember enough to compare honestly.
How is the soundstage compared to t50rp argon?
Running these off an Asgard 3. I find the bass is very linear to my ears. NGL, I kinda bought these because they match my Model 5's in mahogany, lol.
Glad you enjoy the T60 Argon. Thanks for the impressions.
What pads are those?
Great video :)
ZMF suede pads that come with the mod.
Hi great video. Have opportunity to pick up a pair of these headphones. Will my Ifi Zen CAN and Zen DAC V2 stack power these well ? Thanks in advance.
The T60 is not the hardest to drive headphone but the Zen Stack may be pushed to the limit trying. I think it will do it but you'll be close to not enough. But I haven't heard the pairing myself.
@@TheHonestAudiophile thank you. I’ve just bought online a Questyle CMA600i and will be using the Argon’s with it. Can’t wait to get it.
Cool. Look forward to hearing your impressions. Always wanted to hear a CMA600i.
I have the normal T60RP and search a good mod, sound the material different? I can´t decide between suede and lambskin. I think zmf are the only mods for them? Can´t find any other in Europe. And can I change them myself? I know you can buy original spar pads too.
As mentioned in the review, I haven't heard the original T60 so I don't know the difference sonically with the Argon. I recommend the ZMF Suede pads as mentioned in the review. Yes you can change pads on your own.
Almost waiting 6 months here. Cant wait.
I'm sorry, waiting 6 months? What are you waiting for?
@the Honest Audiophile The Modhouse T60 argon. I placed my order on September 1st. Besides the general news page and the original order confirmation, I haven't seen any personal updates in my email or anywhere. Now that I type it out it does sound kind of wild. Might send him an email just to check-up.
Thanks for the review by the way.
I would send an email to Ryan @ Modhouse. Hopefully it all works out for you. Sorry for your frustrations.
@@TheHonestAudiophile Just an update for anyone wondering. Got a reply back and they are just getting to my order. Should ship by the end of next week. Cheers

How would you compare the T60RP Argon to the Audeze LCD2?
It's been since the reviews that I've heard either. If my memory serves me correctly the LCD-2 is darker in treble, has more bass control and is a more mellow style presentation. The T60 Argon has more bass slam and impact, fuller more energetic mids and more treble elevation and air. Both take a good amount of power to drive correctly.
Hi, how do the stockT60 compare to the HD600?
Sorry I haven't heard the stock T60, only the Argon T60.
How much power did you need to get them to perform well? I was contemplating of using the xDuoo XD-05 Plus (1W @32 ohm single ended) with it. From what I have found 1W may not be enough but i'm not sure. Hopefully you can chime in.
I would recommend something more powerful, like 2.5w or more.
@@TheHonestAudiophile Thank you for the response and advice!
@@optimusprime3470 my pleasure, you're welcome.
Xduoo xd 05 basic has trouble driving my dt770 250ohm, plus isnt much far better
@@soulfulfool on max gain? hmmm. Liquid Spark on low gain run them on 12 o'clock position pretty loud. Are u sure about max gain? Asking because Liquid Spark has 1.3W on 50 Ohms and 887 should has ~4W on 50 Ohms
Would an iFi Gold Bar power these good enough?
Possibly, I am not sure as I have neither available to test the pairing.
I am in for a headset with good soundstage and imaging for fun and gaming..would you recommend these or the t50 mk3
T60ro Argon are a blast for gaming with right amp. Also the HD660s are good for gaming as well.
@@TheHonestAudiophile I guess I will go with the T60 for now and get the HD660s during the holiday seasons
Sounds like a plan. Look forward to hearing your impressions.
How do I get my hands on a pr of those alph blue cans
www.head-fi.org/threads/open-alpha-t50-3d-printed-headphone-project-from-mrspeakers.825868/
How do you compare the T60RP Argon with the Alpha Prime?
Sorry haven't heard either in a very long time. I sold the Alpha Prime a year ago or more and haven't heard the T60rp Argon since I reviewed it. Sorry don't recall enough to offer a fair comparison.
Xenon pads. So are these good for electronic or what..? Rock? Jazz? Acoustic only? Why am I buying these
I got Blue's on the way, thinking 'bout ordering a second one in the future on sale and getting it turned into an Argon.
Cool. Interesting idea to convert Blue to Argon.
Can you tell the difference between the stock T60rp vs the modhouse Argons? I currently use the stock pads, not very comfortable for long duration but I'm scared of losing the details.
As mentioned in the review, I haven't heard a stock T60.
@@TheHonestAudiophile Thank you for your response. You are awesome!
Modhouse has come up with another pad they claim has even a broader Soundstage! I think I'll eventually get my 3 year old stock T60rp modded..
My pleasure, you're welcome. Oh interesting about the pads. Look forward to hearing your impressions of the Argon mod.
I use stock T60 and they are sound more pleasure for me than Argons. Argons sounds more V-shape, more like consumer headphones. for stock T60 I use HM5 pleather pads and sound is more richer, but you will loose some loudnes tho.
Thank you for the impressions
oh my.... ZMF suede pads... there are so many combinations of ZMF pads, you can start a war just on 1 material/different models or 1 model/different materials
Lol I didn't realize how special they were (t60 argons) until I threw on some random big sheepskin pads. I was blown away. Changed my view
Awesomeness, glad you enjoy them 😊
Do you feel you don't have enough time for your favorite gears when you making reviews?
Actually yes, that happens a lot. It is a balancing act to get in proper time for the review and to use my personal favorite gear as well. Good question.
Thanks for watching, commenting and subscribing.
Got the Eikon. The Eikon does not much the T60rp at anything - anything like 100% nothing;. The T60rp are better in extension, coherence, timber, clarity, details and resolution, comfort,... Just the T60rp need power, lots of power.
Thanks for the impressions 👍
I love them but I'm selling my Argon Mk3s on ebay right now. Offer ends on April 11th 2021.
