This is the 2nd full week working on clearing this hill side to make a future fruit and chestnut orchard. The process seems very slow! Would you keep burning the brush or would you look into a wood chipper ?

Good morning Del, sorry Monique and I took Alex to Boone we went Skiing and Snowboarding for the weekend! Yes that chainsaw works well I have been searching for a wood chipper to try and expedited this project a bit. What slows us down is breaking down the branches and top half of the trees! That burn area is nice for that reason you mentioned and we are able to stand on the hill above it and toss branches on top of it.

Good evening Aaron thank you very much! I would let them sit for a few months but I notice so many birds, squirrels , and reptiles turn them into nesting/homes after a few weeks.
There are benefits to both. Most people only need a chipper like a one time use, so you might find a used one cheap! Burning is effective for mass elimination. Wood chips can be upcycled for other uses around house and field.
Good morning Dan I apologies for the late response Monique and I took Alex skiing/snowboarding this weekend we just got home! Yes I do see the benefits of burning I would like to put 1 of my game cameras near the pile I know the goats eat some of the charred wood. I see a ton of prints around the area!

DR Power make small chippers that’ll handle 3” wood. I use one on my wood lot. How big do you need Joe?
N.H.M a small gas powered chipper would probably work best for me, I have looked into a DR, along with a few others. In a perfect world I would get one for the back of my tractor but financially its not a smart move at this time.
