@@daggaboom I can't tell. I think there's a chance that Sexton goes down during the pools, so with Sexton out I'd say Ireland for sure. Otherwise I think both would be great and terribly difficult games.

Admire his objectivity, had the privilege of seeing Stuart play for Scotland a few times, especially remember being in a baking hot Kobe stadium and seeing him smash a drop goal from around halfway against Samoa, his talents will be missed.

Hard to call but apparently the referees will force teams to use the ball and stop teams forcing penalties at set pieces will not favour the boks
@@Obviously-by6jp Don't confuse forcing your opposition to infringe with milking penalties. A scrum is still a scrum and if the opposition collapses or stands up that is still your penalty - the referee also can not call for the ball to be used if the scrum / maul is still going forward. Similarly, the opposition attacking your jumper in the air of taking out the support players is still a penalty and mauls are still an integral part of the game.

ireland wont beat nz at the cup - different game different mindset - abs know how to get to the finals - ireland as yet to get further than the QFs - cant see them doing it at this cup they will go out again in the QFs if they meet the abs
I'm not sure about that. I don't think the mindset is that different. Last time they encountered they both put a lot of effort. Ireland wanted to prove themselves they could beat a top team, and the blacks had to prove they were still a top team.
All Blacks had been crushing almost everyone for so long we get a bit spiritual about them, thinking they would always do something out of nothing. I don't think it's true anymore, not with that team.

Yea. Ireland are not necessarily the same team that took the grand slam. They’re not match fit yet and Sexton has been out for an age.
They could do it, but I don’t know that their performances last year will be repeated in the WC

Hugely optimistic for Northern Hemisphere teams. I think there will be upsets, but there won't be semi-finals with one SH team, Australia, who can't beat a paper packet at the moment. The reality is more like NZ or SA will be there.
SOUTH AFRICA - I do not understand why they are not overwhelming favourites. Serial winners, just smashed the ABs. Forwards are beast and they can squeeze the life out of any team.
If they don't get that England ref against a free running team.... SA are gonna be shot. There's only so many games the boks can play a 7/1 split before their backs start dropping like flies.

Remember when England had SA in their group, meant that one QF was especially tough & suspected that the team with one extra hard game would always lose.
This time a few more teams have some form & if England can join them there are going to be a lot more difficult QFs.
Not sure that winning between World Cups is the same as winning at World Cups & perhaps teams with strength in depth (=strong squads) are going to come through?
As an Irishman, I'd be very happy with these results. Most other videos out there at the moment are completely writing Ireland off.

@chasey2327 I think Jack Crowley will step up to the plate in this World Cup and help take some pressure off Sexton. Crowley has risen rapidly and seems to be able to handle and maybe even enjoy big pressure moments like he did in the URC against Leinster in the semi final and against Stormers in the final.

I can’t argue just based on ability……However, cards and referees will have a massive bearing IMO and therefore impossible to predict! Peyper and Raynal have track records of some incredible decisions and not in a positive way!

In such an open RWC, Argentina making the semis is actually probably the safest prediction of all considering the draw. We also know they can beat every one of those four teams they’re likely to meet in the semis.

Fiji are the highest ranked side in their group, yet they are predicted to come third? Wales have been dreadful recently, as have England, and Argentina are a much better side just now.
I expect Fiji to top their group tbh, or at least get second. Argentina are the clear favourites in theirs and imo England will be lucky to get out of the group. Japan or Samoa could easily beat them.
It's a World Cup - different qualities prevail. I have no doubt Fiji will do some incredible things but the forward grunt of the opposition will just grind them down I fear.
Rankings will count for nothing, a lot of this Welsh team finished fourth 4 years ago.
@@spud7823 So rankings don't count but your form four years ago does? This is a completely different Welsh squad, full of young players with very little experience. The likes of AWJ, Tipuric etc have all retired and the replacements aren't of nearly the same quality. Fiji's squad is packed full of world class players, which Wales have almost none of.

As a New Zealander, I would say the Cup is wide open. I think France is overrated. It could be an upset. On form, Ireland looks like the one, but anything can happen. In most of the World Cups, the favorites have not won. Remember that Australia was the big favorite to win in 1995.

I was Delighted of course to be proved right, after the most arduous and "nail-biting" journey to the Finals for the Valiant men, in the "Green and Gold", to make it to the finals... To play against "The All Blacks", with both teams chasing a record breaking Fourth Win of "The Webb-Ellis Cup" and the crown of Four Time R.W.C winners, promised to be a real "Clash of The Titans". IT WAS and Needless to say as an avowed "SPRINGBOK" supporter, I was both elated and so Relieved, when the final whistle blew. FOUR TIME and Back to Back, Rugby World Cup Champions, from just Eight tournaments played....! " GO BOKKE..." !!

I really dont want to see Ireland vs France in the quarters, Id like that to be the final (English but assume they can't go that far)
Ireland weren't at their best in 2019 they got worked out but this side is different they are playing great rugby they have the physical edge more that one game plan and iron discipline and defense. South Africa are a challenge but Ireland know that cannbeat them because they have done it before.

For a former pro rugby player, Hogg has awful insights. England are not favs to come out of their group at all. Argentina should defo be favoured, and Samoa have a real chance to beat them too. England's team looks awfullll
He also describes the tier two nations as unknowns like there isnt plenty of data - he should check out squidgerugby
I think this just says more about your bias than Hogg's predictions. England have the best track record in the WC of any NH team, they shouldn't be written off.

@@joeboonmusic4004 Could not agree more, from an Irish man, England will put on a show, even if it takes ignoring the Borthwick's plan just to save face. Most of those boys have got to a final and know what it takes. I certainly would not write them off.
As a Scot, I think his predictions are very balanced and realistic. He’s taking into account past performance at the RWC as well as player quality. Yes England have demonstrated little form in the warm ups but I think things will change for the main event.
Don't know if anyone follows Rugby Union here, but could not believe that South Africa only had 1 try, with a missed conversion, and 1 penalty vs Ireland!! Ireland is #1 in Rugby Union for certain now

If one diregards the teams reaspective WC cultures and records, you'd still be left with the fact that Rassie Erasmus is one of the best coaches alive and the Springboks are at east as good as Ireland man foe man.

Ireland vs France 2018 in Paris has to be up there with one of the best games of all time, That ending would have been nerve wracking even for neutrals.

I think the Gods will conspire to see a repeat of one of the best games of rugby we've seen in a generation and that will be between Ireland and France, but this time it'll be for the world cup instead of the Six Nations. I think France, with home advantage, will win it but it'll be a low scoring very close game. It may be won or lost on a single point.

As an over optimistic Scotsman I'm looking for Scotland to qualify from group B after shocking the Springboks in Marseille on Sunday. I fancy Ireland to also beat the South Africans and win group B with Scotland in second place.
Don't underestimate your team. Scotland is dangerous and they recently beat France.
I actually think SA are peaking a little early and should beat Scotland. Not so sure past the pool phases.

I think Ireland are a better target. There's a chance that Sexton goes out against SA or Fidji and Ireland without Sexton is easier to beat.

Hogg hasn't a clue. Murray and Sexton ? Murray will be playing third fiddle to Craig Casey and Gibson-Parkes. Conor might get a run out against some of the minnows like Tonga, Romania or Scotland, but for the important games it will be Gibson-Parkes and maybe Casey coming on later in the game.
Casey won't be playing against SA or Scotland.
Gibson Parkes will be though. Murray is too slow, Ireland playing with tempo are very good. Murray is simply too slow, if we are to win this World Cup we need GP or Casey in action. @@stiofain88
