- Knowing the purposes of the wilderness helps us recognize these seasons and work in agreement with God. These purposes are to mature, strengthen, humble, and purify us, while also revealing more of both our heart and God’s heart. Focusing on these purposes helps protect us from discouragement or distraction while we press on in God toward His promises.

Great insight. I’ve been on a journey lately with the Lord, returning from a long season of regretful backsliding (12 years). The Lord has turned my heart towards Him this past year. But I have been in a wilderness in my mind from past sins and obsessive thinking. I know God will bring about the promises that have been prophesied over me. I will stand firm by His grace and continue believing for deliverance and a fuller revelation of His love for me.

I am in the wilderness and have even shared with those around me that I am being refined by His fire to cleanse me, all the impurities to be gone. I am surrendering myself and humbly crying out to Him to do everything He wants in me. I desire to walk in Holiness ❤

This teaching is so good. Been in a wilderness myself and I haven’t done too well in the past. But I feel like this year something shifted in me and I’m starting to see some character development 😅 Praying that whatever the other side of this is, God gets all the glory. 🙌🏼

I can't wait for lesson 3...everything i have been experiencing and learning over the pass 10months explained...at the begining of my wilderness journey i had a dream God was talking to me and telling me he will teach me and in the dream i saw your name John at that time the last name sounded familiar because i had listened to your wife prior but not you..and now i understand what the Lord was saying..alot of the things the Lord has been teaching me in his word and revealing to me i have come to notice are the things you are passionate about a teaches alot about ! Our God is truly awesome...keep doing the amazing work of the Lord 🙏🙌

There was one salient point that this video presented as it relates to the "true" means to have victory over life's struggles, and the individual's unfounded expectations being unmet in the face of being a Christian and that is the matter of "complaining"; not complaining moreover. The very opposite, and well beyond the simple tactical matter of not complaining is being "thankful"; thankful to God. Giving thanks in ALL circumstances. Rejoicing always. To pray without ceasing (pouring out our heart to the Lord) while tirelessly doing both of the former. All of the aforementioned is not a guarantee, nor a promise, but a call from the Lord to the heart of those who are His.
If we desire knowing God, to have intimacy with Christ, and to know in the deepest depths of our hearts that He knows us and that He hears us...do these (3) things with hypervigilance and acute intensity. All of the aforementioned are not a means undertaken to get you "out of the wilderness", to heal the hurts from others, to stop the trial, to heal the disease, to cover the unforeseen expense(s) resulting from a catastrophe, but a means to continue through all of life's circumstances with unbridled love, joy, and peace: hope in the Lord.

I always thought about the fact that God hate complaining…
Most of the Israelites complained without asking first from GOD its like murmuring behind someone back with out airing your concern first to him king David communed with GOD then when things weren't going as plan would then complain you can be walking with someone but not actually walking with that same very person ensure to be on the same page

What if the Lord hasn't given a personal promise???
Thats what i wanna know. They always skip that part
If He hasn't given you a personal promise, then hold on to the promises He's given in the His Word. Take the promises from His Word and make them personal.
How can we handle pain?
How do I know what Promises God has given me (besides the ones in the Bible)?
He might speak them to you in visions, dreams, His prophet or a strong desire in your heart. However, we must judge all things by the Word.
You don't need to wait for a personal promise. Just take the promises in the Scriptures and make them personal. Remember, the Bible calls the Word of God "A more sure word of prophecy"...meaning that the Word of God supersedes what you see in a dream, vision or hear from a prophet's mouth or feel in your mind.
Ok but what if youve never experienced that initial holy spirt manifestation? You keep asking and asking for it but it never comes. Does that mean god has rejected you?
Hey there. I would say I was born again 2 and a half years ago and my first experience with the Holy Spirit in the way I believe John is talking about happened last week. Keep going, I know it's tough but if you show the genuine signs of being born again the Holy Spirit will reveal Himself. He has something special put aside for you but it does require this difficult journey first
Grieving the Holy Spirit will put you into a dry season. Do not argue with, resist or disobey the Holy Spirit if He is speaking to you.
You will suffer loss for decades and possibly the rest of your life.
In ignorance, shame or guilt. However you get to that place.
God is speaking to you. DONT ignore what He is saying.
It will damage your relationship.
Ok, but what of you want to be obedient, but can't for the life of you hear what he's telling you to do?
@@keralindsay3553 obey what's in the word of God. Do what the Bible says. Don't do what the Bible says don't do. And then just keep seeking him. Those who want him instead of his stuff what he can do for you. He called the disciples he chose the disciples. Some chose to follow and some chose not to. Judas chose to be a disciple but he didn't choose to follow Christ. He was trying to lead Jesus to do with Judas once again. I don't see where God ask us what we want before he tells us what we need. Try praying for God to give you what he says you need.
I watched your series on getting closer to God and loved it. This 'fake classroom' scenario comes across as fake and boring. My career is making media for communicating advanced ideas for scientists and cant help but notice these details. It's very distracting that you're not speaking to the camera. it's distracting in its 'overstyling' of production values (soundtrack effects, edits, fake set, fake students, motion graphics, etc). It's very offensive that there are commercial breaks during a sermon. Thumbs down. Cant watch anymore. Please stick with videos of you just talking sincerely to your audience.... "US".
