Although the E46 is 20+ year old car, i still find the design very modern. Bringing the car up-to-date on the electronics is i think a fantastic way to keep the car going. In my opinion, the E46 is the best BMW ever made.
Doesn't even come CLOSE to the E39.

You need to have a display option that is the original e46 m3 display cluster. That would be class. I've seen others do it on other vehicles

I forgot how bad the BMW purists were haha. Mad you updated from a cluster that was already out-dated when new (It's basically an e36 cluster with trim rings lol).
Cluster looks good, has an oem finish to it, but with way more customization.
The e36 had a beautiful cluster form-its time.i had both a e36 and e46 in my younger days,i prefer the analog clusters over a fully digital display
Very very nice! It's rare to see modified e46 M3s still being worked on nowadays. I still have my 2004 super charged sitting in my garage at 90k miles
How has the reliability been with the SC kit on? I’ve always wondered the longevity on the E46 particularly with that kit.
@@BobbyBimmer I have the ActiveAuto Gen6 Stage 1 for about 40k miles over the course of 11 years. The car has been rock solid and never had any problems.

Looks cool, but only the hardcore enthusiasts would even dare to spend 1k on a 3rd party unit. It's probably a marketing decision, because there's simply not enough demand to justify mass production. Build quality and integration seems very good tho.

I just look and is good solution for swap broken one. but I don't see many customers happy to spend 1k for this. There is always chance to fix/refresh old one for friction of this price.
Can assure you hardcore enthusiast would never do this. After seeing it turned on it simply does not fit in with the rest of the interior.

This is so nice!! I’m doing something similar to my B7 A4 with a factory newer Audi digital cluster! I love this look and will definitely do this to my 09 328i at some point after my Audi

I am currently doing this shit to my audi S5 b8,5. Virtual cockpit, OEM converted digital infotainment with apple carplay (kinda like the alibaba ones but better hardware), keyless go upgrade (so it has keyless entry and remote engine start) etc.
It's a great project. And it gives a car that has a timeless design, a timeless interior that you'll enjoy. great stuff dude.
I looked up these for my 2012 650i and because of you I’m ordering them both center stack and gage cluster. Can’t wait.
Looks impressive but analogue is the way for this car. Its the last of the old skool and personally hate all the tech getting in the way. I can see why you would want this in a dedicated track/race car though.
Agreed, the factory analog dash dials are my preferred look, but this customizable digital dash is a nice update for those who want a different look.
It's a cluster it's not getting in the way at all lol. I never understood this "tech getting in the way argument" when you can turn it all off 🤷🏾♂️
@@Nah5534 Well, technically, you can not. You can change it back, but turning it off sort of defeats the point of having it in first place. And to explain “tech getting in the way argument” - digital dials are much less reliable, more expensive and less readable than old ones. Especially after 4,5,6 and more hours of driving. I think anyone can put whatever they want in their car, I have digital dials in car, because it was standard, but I understand why many people prefer old ones.
noone cares about the oldschool analog odometer. this mod is the way to go to make bmw look and compete with other cars

Looks very cool though I prefer my gauges with individually binnacles to reduce glare. That said, it seemed to be pretty well managed with that screen protector.
This is dope! Honestly, I wouldn't replace mine until something broke or became sketchy on my OEM cluster, but my baby is 18 years old, so it's only a matter of time before something in the cluster fails or just looks bad. Nice to see something that could replace and modernize the cluster when I'm ready. May be a minute, but I'll be back for one of these at some point!

Does the OBC button on the turn signal stalk work on the new digital cluster? Would be nice if it could cycle through different ODBII information on one of the widgets or a way to quickly cycle through different themes, etc.
Great addition to any BMW were the oem dials have seen better days. Small mods like these are honestly my favourite as they change so much about the car!
One of the coolest mods I’ve seen (asides from this one) is the Inductive wireless charger you can install into the older BMWs

Look into installing sound deadening into the doors,trunk, hood, and trunk. It makes a world of difference in making it a nice quieter ride and more premium feel
But is the E46 M3 really about premium feel? Idk. Feels especially dumb that you've got that S54 under the hood and I'd assume you'd want to hear all of it, not effectively detract from the whole experience.
@@patrolmostwanted No one feels that way in high end cars and they have at least some deadening as well. The deadening actually mutes mostly stuff like road noise, ambient noise, and since most of that stuff is dulled the engine actually sounds better and clearer in my experience. I like good engine noise. I don't care for wind noise, road noise, vibrations, ambient noise, etc. THAT detracts from my car experience.

Dope, AF! I wanted one of these when I was in high school, and now that I'm older and the car is very much affordable, I'm definitely in the market for one. It's my dream car! I told a buddy of mine I'm going to get one of these cars, and he replied with "yeah right!" But I never told him when I'd have one.😂
Tbh I'd have to just have 2 e46s because this integration is quite clean and well done IMO 🤣; ties in nicely with the original look of the interior with matte surfaces I think; you could even add some Alcantara into the interior with orange accented stitching for an enhanced modern feel without cheapening it with raw carbon weave (if you don't prefer carbon). Awesome build nonetheless!

The only reason people love the old cluster so much is just because of the M badge, everything else is on it is very basic in design.
Exactly that. Same goes for the new facelift cluster in the g20. Analog has emotion has moving parts not a fucken screen fake world. At the end of the day its his car can do whatever he wants and im sure he still has the og laying around or can simply buy one for like 250$.

Yo this is amazing. Wish I could get something like this for my old 1990 Corvette, that car's OEM gauges are kind eh and the cluster has plenty of its own issues. An all-digital solution like this would be sick,
My friend suggested I change my OEM cluster. I was like hell no. Love the stick set up so beautiful and analogue but this new kit is very good. I'm just not that into new things however

That is pretty dumb that they can’t even make the entire screen the cluster and they have to put a trim around it to make it smaller. I’ve been thinking about getting one for my F36 through Kies Motorsports but I’m pretty sure it’s from a different company because the one for the F36 is full screen and has a different design, it’s modern but with touches of the old analog style cluster.

Nice clean install, but not what I'd want in my E39. A huge part of the appeal of the 90s/00s Bimmers are their analog feel and features and their gorgeous analog gauges. It's too bad your original M Cluster died. But to each their own, and if this is what you like you did a good job with it and that, I think, is more important than personal preference. A person can choose to make whatever modifications that appeals to them and it's only wrong if it's not done correctly.
Your analog car that does everything through canbus and doesn't even have a direct cable to the throttle body? Give me a break.
@@jesh879 Okay. Even though my car lacks drive-by-wire. But drive-by-wire or not doesn't diminish the analog characteristics of the car, it's about more than the fact that these cars utilize canbus. I still prefer analog gauges, there's no perceived latency when the needles are bouncing around. And over time they're not going to slow and gain more latency.

Great result 👍 part of the charm of older vehicles is the disconnect with modern tech. The driving experience is much more pure and involved.
Looks nice! This should have come with bluetooth and mobile app control. Pretty high buy in cost given the antiquated controls and usb updater. For a show car or enthusiast the cost might be justified. I like it but not enough at this cost.
You can get those lcd displays and whole clusters in europe or ebay for couple hundred bucks

The digital look I love..old school car with modern interior is a really awesome look and shows the that the owner likes change..nothing against the originality of the car but upgrading is always a good thing 🤘🏼

i suppose you did a really nice job with this one but i still much prefer the oldschool original gauge. you should keep the car as much original as possible. is my opinion. If i was looking for a e46 and i found two good ones i would for sure get the one with the original gauge instead of this

Looking for a comment like this. 370k and running perfectly, except for the starter (or at least I think it's the starter), that does a grinding noise (not a bmw), like the gear isnt engaging with the flywheel. I need to like prime it, and then turn the key for it to start without grinding. Other than that, works fine. The clutch pedal needs lubrification too

It's cool but I think the stock clusters on the older BMWs look better. My favorite is the pre-LCI M clusters that look like analog gauges but are digital.

Very cool. I used to have an E46 M3 convertible. Great car.
My favorite thing about my e46 is the grey cluster. A joy and privilege to look at everyday. Should have fixed the stock cluster. This is too ricey , along with your steering wheel.
I'm not afraid to step outside the box. While my other builds follow the OEM+ route, this car I decided to go a bit crazy with it. Ricey or not, I love the outcome. And honestly that's what matters most, how it makes me feel.

I purchased one a year ago for my 650i, i absolutely LOVED it! I ended up selling my 650i and now purchased an M6, ill definitely be buying a fully loaded cluster from V.V!

Each to their own, but I would never change it in mine. I changed my standard entertainment unit to a new large touch display, mainly because I wanted apple car play, but man I really miss the look of the factory one. I even miss my cassette deck.

I got an e92 325i (2007) and in general no major issues except for a clicking noise under the car when shifting into second gear. And the minor ones like fabric coming off on the roof. I'm probably going to switch the entertainment system out for apple carplay though. I feel like that makes it feel like a whole new car as well

How do you clear any warning lights on the digital cluster?
I have a scanner to clear an airbag light but it just won't work with the digital cluster.
As far as I know the lights can only be cleared by re-installing the factory cluster, or am I mistaken?
Does the cluster have the option to record live data? It would be a great feature to be able to go back after running a pass to see the performance in recorded real time. Or whatever you’d like to use it for. Also, the rear tires sit perfectly on your E46, I put 15mm spacers on which helped a ton to not look like the rear wells were devouring the back tires. Now however I need to add adjustable coil overs so I can raise the back just about an inch to remove the inherent squat look. I had aftermarket’s on but just don’t love the ride with lower profile w/t’s so changed back to the factories and with the rear spaced out a hair I much prefer the look and with no surprise the car is just a hair more glued to the ground around corners. All of that said mine is a non M convertible that’s in near mint so even though it’s peppy, it’s by no means a fast car and I’m super reluctant to trade performance for reliability. It has the shark tuner and the sprint booster which help the feel of performance tremendously without making it a weekly project car. But man I’d like a turbo. 😂
