Robert Quine is criminally underrated
Give Ivan Julian some credit too!
I love him
Adrian checks the Stooges, Roland S. Howard, Andy Gill, Robert Quine, etc...That makes him the coolest in my book! Thank you Adrian.
Robert Quine is brilliant but don't forget Ivan Julian on second guitar. Their rhythm parts mesh so well on the album and it sounds like a lot of work went into making everything lock together, it belies the idea punks couldn't play! Ivan also plays on The Clash's tune “The Call Up. Thanks for excellent lesson!
Highly original and charming music I’ll play for the grandchildren.
Robert Quine RIP, was lucky to see him play with Lloyd Cole in 1990, interestingly it was Quine who recorded the Velvet Underground gigs in 1973 in California in the last dregs of their career which became the fantastic Matrix tapes.....well worth a listen.
Wow, sadly I never got to see him play. Yes, Quine was a great collaborator with all kinds of interesting people. Not super familiar with the Matrix tapes, but on your recommendation I'll have a listen!
I got to see him play with Lou Reed, fun night !
Ghost Driver I think you might mean 1969 GD.
I saw Quine with Lloyd Cole in 1990, too. In Atlanta. Only time I saw him - consider myself lucky to have caught him.
Ivan Julian says, "Spot on, you got it!"
Fantastic, was hoping you might do some Richard Hell lessons.
Always great song choices. Always great lessons. Thank you, Adrian.
Great to have you back, Adrian. Love to see you making noise.
Wonderful. Robert Quine is one of my guitar heroes. Thanks for this, Adrian.
Bloody love Richard Hell! I've spent ages trying to find some lessons for this on CZcams. Thanks man, would love to see some more :)
After seeing your Television tutorials I was waiting for this to happen. Great choice!
This is really cool. Good job
So good, this is a tricky one. Thank you!
Can you do one on the Blank Generation?
RIGHT! How can Adrian have taken the time to figure out this and not give us the best punk anthem ever??? Come on Adrian we need this!
+1
Excellent! Excellent! Excellent!!!
Awesome, one of my favourite solos
Yes, guitar solos don't come much better than this!
Love this!
Great lesson, thanks.
Wow ! What a tone Adrian ! I will give it a try
Excellent Adrian! I may give this a try when I am done with your Public Image lesson!
That is a great version you do.i love your ear for picking up on little details..i cant agree with you more Robert quine is without doubt one of the best guitarists from the class of 76...a sad loss and underated talent..quirky jazz infused riffs...love his style.....i was fortunate enough to catch the voidoids twice..
YOU ROCK THANK YOU SO MUCH
Another Top shelf track and lesson. Quine and Julian great gtr duo
Kick ass video! Thanks for sharing! I just figured out “The Plan” chords by ear, now to work on those leads. Robert Quine is such a badass guitarist.
Friggin Awesome! Thank you sir.
Thanks William!
I've just gotten back into playing again. I'm determined to learn the basics this time in order to be held back less later on. That said, it's great to find a channel with (imho) great songs instead of the same old same old.
Richard Hell! Wire! Keep em coming, please 👍🏻
Thanks a lot, Arian. Richard Hell wrote this song when he was a member of The Heartbreakers. After he left, they adapted it into "One Track Mind".
He wrote it even earlier, before Television even, with the Neon Boys (1972)
No way! Didn't think you'd ever do this. Great video as always! I'm Your Man has some of Quine's best guitar work, I'd love to see a tutorial on that.
Great replica of the Robert Quine solo, aaaaaahhhh aural gold, man! One of the greatest guitarist ever lived and much much missed.....
Amazing ...
Very nice, thanks for your work on this song! A lesson for "I'm your Man" would be great, two very nice short solos in that one.
Nice Mustang! I picked up a '66 myself early this year as my first real vintage guitar. It was originally Dakota Red but someone refinished it in seafoam several years ago, so naturally it's lost some of its value. They're fun to play though. Thanks for another great song! Good taste, as usual! Quine was a hell of a player. His work on Lou Reed's Blue Mask album is impressive.
awesome lesson as always man
you should do blank generation next it has a very interesting solo ;)
Brilliant Adrian. U do the best tutorials. Amazing songs. Is there any chance u cld do a video for Time by Hell mate? Cld nvr work out by ear what the great Bob Quine is doing.
Thank you. :-)
Quine's guitar on Time is breathtaking.
After five years it finally came out!
please please do blank generation!!!
The Voidoids are such an underrated part of NYC’s mid to late 70s scene!
Please do Time by Richard Hell.
Wow. A rhythm guitarist's dream.
hey there adrian could you do a video showcasing your record collection
Could you do time by Richard hell ?? Love this lesson
Interresting facts are also that Robert Quine was a student with Lennie Tristano beside beeing a immense fan of the Velvet Underground and Ivan Julian's dad was befriended with Ornette Coleman. That background shapes certainly...
Never really cared for punk music but there's to tasty riffage in this song. I just liked listening to you talk. Makes me very sleepy. Very calming. Not boring. But relaxing.
great lesson.would you consider some blues like johnny winter.."memory pain"?thanks.
Great one! Would you consider Dave Edmunds, Get Out of Denver?
U legend! :-)
coolest bloke on planet
Thanks Tony. I hope your not being sarcastic, as I'd never consider myself very cool!
I believe that Mondo Bondage (studio version) by The Tubes is another Adrian classic waiting to be covered! Also, please don't overlook the drumming on this song - the five stroke roll fills and perfectly matched hectic accompaniment to the fast BPM intro is amazing! So much energy and sheer command of technique in a three minute rock song is no mean feat.
I have been waiting since 2008 for someone to teach me how to play Blank Generations songs
amazing, please blank generation (the last blues)
Excellent lesson from one of the great all time guitar duos, check out Quines collabs with Brian Eno! I will be seeing Marc Ribot in 2 weeks!
Yes, not really familiar with his work with Eno. Must check it out. Enjoy Ribot you lucky man!
Julian was playing a Dan Armstrong clear lucite guitar quite a bit in that period.
I love the songs you pick for how to play's! What kind of mustang are you playing?
66. There's a bit of info on it at the very end of the video.
Buenas pinturas. Rojo de Rothko
Oh yeah, and is the Mustang new for you Adrian? I just got my first Jaguar BTW
That is perhaps the largest Fender headstock I have ever perceived.
You should do liars beware. I’ve been trying to learn the solo but I can’t figure it out
Please do some television songs.
Did Venus a while back. Will almost certainly do one or two more in the future.
Fantastic job! Only caveat is I think Ivan was playing a horrible Dan Armstrong on that record. He certainly was live. Compare the solos on "The Kid with the Replaceable Head" and you'll see what I mean.
Provocative song title Adrian ;) lol
Yes, you can count on Richard Hell for a bit of provocative innuendo!
DESTINY STREET REPAIRED IS WELL WORTH SEEKING OUT FOR ANY FANS! I was wondering if Hell ever commented on Walter Lure's rewrite of this. ONE TRACK MIND UPDATE 2022: Now there is Destiny Sreet Complete!
Ive never seen you play so well and sound so bad 😲lmao i guess im just too damned old.
Haha, thanks as always!
Sexy riff. You look sexy too. Have a great weekend Adrian.
Haha, glad someone thinks so!
Seminole, heh
i think it's time you gave Time (destiny street "demo" version) some time so folks can finally watch someone play those beautiful robert quine parts!
