I started hybrid picking back in the 70's. I was touring with a band and was playing a hotel in PA. It so happened that Louise Mandrell was listening to us one night. She called me over and commented on my hybrid picking. She said she hadn't seen anyone play like that. I had been doing it for awhile and really didn't know that many weren't doing it.

Mike Scheidt from Yob uses hybrid picking a lot playing doom metal.

I'm so glad this channel is a mix between country and alt rock (well kind of) I've been following for years now and I'm self-taught, and really becoming a decent guitarist. Thank you! If private lessons ever become available again i'd jump at that! Stay Country!

Im 65 and only took up guitar 15 months ago. I have 1 lesson per week and have covered most of what you are doing here so understood what you were doing and showing. You have a similar disposition to my tutor so found this easy to follow. Great video. Thanks very much.

Never stop banging on about triads!!! After 20+ years of being a hack guitar player I'm finally learning how chords are constructed and the vital importance of triads, and how much easier it is to sound good and melodic and be more creative in both melodies, leads, and rhythm when you really know and understand triads. The hard work has enormous payoff!!!
