I was there that night. They opened with this song and closed their set with Blank Generation, Nothing like CBGB's! Every time I went there, my ears rang for at least a day.Right next door was a skid row hotel that literally had fence cages where drunks could pay $10 to lock themselves in them so they didn't get rolled. Right down the block? NYU. Gotta love NYC
Great great great! My punk band covered this song in 1982 once but one of the guys was drunk and it almost fell apart. After that gig we mostly did originals so that it was harder to tell if we were lousy!!!

Most probably isn't 2:00 doesn't look like him and he was already in Ramones BTW, although he plays with them again for the 1980 "Blank Generation" film
Sorry, my "Yes, he is" was in answer to the question about Ivan Julian, very much in the Voidoids at the time and featured/quoted that summer in an excellent piece by Lester Bangs in the Village Voice. I saw Julian with Hell that same summer in that same club, and maybe - I'm not sure - that same night.

Amazing story dude!!
Robert Quine, legend.
This makes me wish I was a little bit older and born in NYC!
I was and saw them at Max's Kansas City this vintage. New York was fun for a then 13 year old!
@@csedan510 Lucky you! I saw them in Copenhagen in 1983. I remember absolutely nothing about it. Pretty strange considering I was a huge fan :)
Quine rippin that solo. Amazing guitarist.
I need more Richard live videos, please keep spare the magic!
Excellent performance!
Sounds almost the same as it does on the album, meaning they were pretty tight by punk standards.
We tried!

Fantastic.
Sounds on fire ! His style is his own .........
Oh no it hurts!
I love mr.Hell poetic "Love comes in spurts!" 😎

I feel like I'm there
TheWheels777: That's Jahn Xavier
Yep, that's me.
Best Hell link I have ever seen. Anyone know any link to more of the same footage?
I guess there's not, but there's earlier and later footage with Marc Bell (Marky Ramone)
1:14 Aguanteeee luca prodan!!! Jeje😎
Hot version. If you just want to hear the Quine solo, Benedetti-style, go to 01:08 ...
Лысый в Voidoids - самый клёвый гитарист в панк-роке.
And critics had the nerve to say that The Strokes were the new version of this 😂
Glad I hosted a book-signing for the lead singer. Nothing like trying to impress a woman to make one act.
Omg Richard hell was too hot 🔥
Richard just oozes charisma. Is Ivan Julian in this line up? I'm sure that's not Marky on drums.
Anton Haq Yes, he is - you see him a couple times - most clearly at the end.

+Wobbly Ashes Oh, ok! Lucky you! I'd give a leg and a arm to attend gigs by the original punk rockers back then!
Wobbly Ashes Wish I'd seen the Voidoids!
Which came first, Richard Hell or the Ramones because the singing styles are exactly the same?
Not Marc Bell, had he left band by this point? Who is bass player?
He'll was the hahaha bass player
Richard is very bitter about this period of time in his life
is the bassist wearing a joy division shirt?
no but it looks like it
Why isn't he playing bass?
"I hate all sports!"
Who’s on bass? (And don’t say what’s on 3rd)
i swear i was born in the wrong generation
