    Here's the problem with Intel throwing their board partners under the bus... they not only condoned this in an interview with Dr. Ian Cutress, they said that it was within spec. Regardless, this was within Intel's control, they could have stopped this YEARS ago and chose not to, because it only helped them out. It finally bit them in the ass, so they pass the beck to the board partners. They gambled and lost. I assume that they're doing this so they can screw over people who's chips have degraded and refuse them a replacement.

    • @John-PaulHunt-wy7lf
      @John-PaulHunt-wy7lf Před 15 dny +1

      Intel has always done this. That’s why they are losing relevance across the board.

      to be fair the board partners SHOULD have defaulted to stock spec and only OC'd by user specific request.

    • @TheGameBench
      @TheGameBench Před 11 dny

      @@jeremytine Should they have? Of course. However, it has always been under Intel's control to mandate that it wasn't enabled by default, but didn't. This isn't a recent issue and he been going on for some time. Regardless of what the board partners should, or should not have done, Intel could have prevented this. However, they not only condoned it, they stated it was fine and only changed course once people started having issues. I'm sorry, but this is ENTIRELY Intel's fault.

    • @jeremytine
      @jeremytine Před 11 dny

      @@TheGameBench when did Intel say it was fine to overvolt? Citation needed... It isn't intel's responsibility that board manufacturers follow spec.

    • @TheGameBench
      @TheGameBench Před 11 dny +1

      @@jeremytine First, let's get something straight... they're not overvolting the processors. That isn't the issue there. What they're doing is setting the power limits too aggressive. Regardless if they were overvolting or if they're setting the power limits to aggressive, it is absolutely withing Intel's control. They control what boards can and can't have the multiplier unclocked. They control what boards can enable XMP. They are absolutely in control of the power limits.
      As for citation, it was in an interview with Dr. Ian Cutress where they said that it was not only fine, but was within spec. I suggest you watch the Hardware Unboxed video on this. They explain everything, and point out why this clearly falls at Intel's feet. And it talks about the fact that Intel was well aware of what they've been doing, has allowed it to go on for years, has condoned it because they benefited from it, and with how aggressive the boosting algorithms are, it has now blown up in their face and they see fit to pass the buck. Regardless... it doesn't matter how you cut it, Intel has total control and they did nothing about it. It is their fault.

    On the reason for the cancellation for the Navi41 and Navi42 GPUs, it was initially stated when the announcements came out that AMD's engineers were having difficulty with their next step of combining multiple dies, in which their RDNA5 engineers were able to solve the complications for RDNA5 but could not effectively apply it back on RDNA4 in a timely manner. Due to these challenges, AMD cancelled the 2 multi-die models for RDNA4 and focus on the Navi44 and Navi48 chips.
    With RDNA3, AMD was able to separate the memory controllers onto their own dies, giving more room on the central compute die. RDNA4 was suppose to break the major GPU components into their own dies to grant scalability through multiple dies. Think of each die providing a 2 Render Pipe GPU (Render Pipes are the GPU equivalent to CPU cores). The problem with such segmentation is linking the internal communication bus and coordinating those render pipes like a single die GPU. It is like the initial problems of driver/hardware based multiGPU builds, splitting the load between multiple discrete GPUs. RDNA4 could have been having load splitting issues between the render pipe dies, but AMD had the solution ready for RDNA5 which was in its infancy, while it was a little late into RDNA4's development for a paradigm shift.
    Although, AMD could have had an opportunity to provide a special refresh of Navi31 during the RX 8000 era, but it may have been too late for a RDNA 3.5 refresh of Navi31 with possibility of using RDNA4 or RDNA5's memory I/O dies.

    AMD being the follower as always, doesn't want to release good GPUs since if they're leading they can't follow Ngreedia. Business standpoint I understand because what they're doing is leading Ngreedia into a minefield to see which things consumers will accept or hate so they can follow after, from consumer standpoint I'm pissed because this is just going to drive the prices up more as the choices are lessened and the supplies are lacking.

    3:40 - Not the first time AMD has done this...their was a Higher-End version of Polaris with 2560 cores, and performed like a GTX1070-Ti...but it was cancelled and re-used in the XBOX One-X.
    The 5700XT may have also had a higher-end 5800XT, but in that case, it was barely faster than the RTX-2080-Super, and much slower than the RTX-2080-Ti and the 5700XT was already almost as fast as the RTX-2080-Vanilla. THAT GPU was die-shrunk, had some RDNA2 bits put in and put in the PS5. That's why the GPU in the PS5 is comparable to a RX-6700-vanilla. If the 5700XT, had some ray-tracing abilities, it would basically be a RX-6700.

Hearing that it is causing damage is only confirmation that i should jump ship. Why stick with a company that has proven itself dishonest. So about that, watched Jayztwocents and Hardware Unboxed videos over the past weekend. Jay made mention that AMD does enforce their default settings with the motherboard manufacturers. (I can't confirm this, just taking his word) And Hardware Unboxed ran a new test using a couple Intel boards on manufactures' stock versus Intel stock specifications. That being said, this would mean that it is possible most or nearly all reviews of Intel versus AMD would be (in a sense) OC Intel vs stock AMD. Now, Hardware Unboxed conclusion showed a few percentages less on games at, roughly 3-5% range difference. Any reviews of AMD chips overclocked would probably be a more accurate comparison of most of those Intel reviews. Comparison reviews may need to be redone at Intel specifications to really show the difference.

    The bottleneck is currently TSMC. Until more plants come online they have a set capacity for chip making. And what with Apple and Nvidia buying up capacity as well, AMD has to be careful about how it uses the capacity it can get.
    At the top end, it would be difficult for AMD to top Nvidia on graphics. So concentrating on medium to low end makes sense. Hell, the graphics cards might be powered by chips that failed the top AI accelerator binning.
