Since you were able to move the track towards the edges and added the 6 inch straight piece, did you consider going up to 22 inch radius there? It would help to ease the grade and the cars would look better on the larger radius. Really nice job on cutting the foam and making the jig. This is gonna be a great layout, Dave.

Damn, you pay attention way too much, lol. Do you think I would use the same space if I replace the straight section and change it to a wide enough curve that would make much of a difference? I really don't want to psch it any further out.

Excellent work, incline looks great, like the idea to use other materials to save money, more work to come

sorry Dave i been calling you Scott :D I "winged" my track plan- going well so far. Our layouts are similar sizes, sort of. yours is twice as big but mine is N scale, giving me twice the "space" so it comes out roughly even- so we deal with similar radius issues. I'm coming off my bench work just a little with my outer loop at the turnarounds at either end, to get a bit more radius, and also I'm hoping it will look cool. I just have to rig up a proper support for it. Anyway its an option if you want bigger radius. It's a clever and resourceful cutting method you used. Great vid!

I've been watching so many videos lately on other people's layouts, and decided that this doesn't need to be my ultimate layout, I can always build another. So I'm seeing this as a tester, and not trying to cram everything in on one go, as much as I'd like to, lol.

Found this video very informative thank you. Looking forward to following the lay out build and picking up some more tips as I work on one, be it smaller, myself. Cheers Stu

Really good video. Your layout looks like it’s going to be very nicely done. I have subscribed to see your progress!

Thank you. I've been watching a LOT of other's layout videos to see what works, and what doesn't. I was originally going to have two loops, but I think I'd rather have more room for towns and scenery.

When I built my layouts for my Wife And I I never used a Computer. When done You could go Half Dc And the Other Dcc as Well.

I'm going to wire it with an on-off-on switch, so I can go between DC and DCC. Might need to add some red warning lights so I don't put the wrong loco on at the wrong time, lol. That could be expensive.

Great video, just ordered up some of the 4% incline as I don't have as much space as you do, I may try to add even more incline to the 4% using aa 1 or 2 percent kit also.

I was amazed at how much space you need for inclines. About 24 feet for a 2 percent just to raise it 6 inches.

Good progress. I`m the same i`ve tried free versions of track planning but, I just can`t get into it, plus I have a mix of track so some is gona have to be free lance,, Though i`m really going to need some as a plan, maybe a lottery win and I can hire mpeterll

Hi I am trying to fined the complete series of this layout but I cannot find anyway to see the list of videos in the correct watch order.

    • @ScottRails

That's a fair point. I should organise better. I actually tore this down and restarted after 6 months. The inclines were causing too many problems, and I wanted two complete loops, which I now have.
