      Hi Bob.....Life as a perfectionist isn't easy, but I do try my best. lol Lets just say it's a lot of thought, watching other videos, some more thought and then I give it a go! ;-) Sometimes I am unsure of how it is going to work out. I am just glad you think it is good. Thanks again for your support Bob. Dave

    Great update, the overhead wires are looking awesome. I'm just starting to build what would be a little further down the ECML from you, so I may well be looking more closely at how you've built these overheads in the past couple of videos!

    Schoolboy error!!! Fallen into the old trap of watching your video with Ebay open! I think I'll be paying Scalecast a visit at some point. Nice job on the ohle masts - I will be using your methods when I come to build mine. Like the "drone" shot of the station throat - not too long ago that would have required a helicopter! ;-)

    Hi Dave, like the idea of a bike run parked outside a pub. I run railmaster with the E-link I use an old computer with windows X. P. as recommended by Hornby ,when it's working it's great when it's not it's a pain. I have to run the drivers to connect to the right port again. cheers John.

    Another great video Dave, and good to see the RailMaster software in action. I've been debating with myself on whether to go Hornby Elite or Bachmann Dynamis Ultima, but watching this video has made me swing back in favour of the Elite with RailMasters capabilities. Cheers, Jamie

      For the money the Hornby product is good. There are better systems such as the ECOS system, but that is double the price. Dave

    Hi Dave, it would appear that the Rail Master software has improved considerably since the last time I was trying to use it. That was just before I went to the Z21 Black. I presume, then, you have solved all their problems now. Rob

    I like the work on the overhead wires. Where do you get the trackside speed signs? I use ECoS but I do find it hard to update (EU German) to find out anything I get a better response from the USA. Sad, as it is nice to use.

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  Před 7 lety +1

      It is my ambition to finally upgrade to the Ecos.....but when the layout is more complete and I can divert the funds towards such an expensive controller. I got the impression it was the "Rolls Royce" of controllers? Dave

    Those masts will look good. Going to take some time to do them I imagine? I like the moulded engines. There is a company called " Rusty rails" on E Bay. They do old locos you could used for one of these??

    • @CHESEABUN
      @CHESEABUN Před 7 lety +2

      Correction. It is now known as Halden-Yard on E bay. Have a look....

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  Před 7 lety +1

      hi yes they take a few hours to make. Spent about 20-25 hours on them already and I have only made 8 complete ones lol. Yeah I have seen rusty rails, might consider it, but I wanted a less rusty engine in the shed getting a new engine. Cheers. Dave

  • @AlanSurgeoner
    @AlanSurgeoner Před 7 lety +1

    Dave , purely out of curiosity how many loco's can run at the same time and also what is the most you have had going at one time?

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  Před 7 lety +1

      Hi I have never really counted to the limit of what my controller can take, but I have had 7 - 8 running all at once with some others 'ticking over' with sound and lights on in the yard. Cheers. Dave

    Hi David - Fab stuff as we have come to expect from yourself. Have you installed any TPWS Peco SL-46 grids if so were and how many please, were on the layout did you place them please.
    Allan

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  Před 7 lety +1

      Hi, no I didn't. As these were generally introduced later than the era I model! They are good pieces of detail though. Google where they should go....I am not sure. Dave

    • @allanalexander3160
      @allanalexander3160 Před 7 lety +1

      Hi David - Thanks for quick reply - good point re time scales.

    • @cedarcam
      @cedarcam Před 7 lety

      The TPWS system in its simplest form consist of 4 grids The system measures the speed of a train approaching a red signal. If it is going too fast to stop at the red signal the brakes are applied automatically. It also detects if a train passes the signal at Danger and stops it automatically. There is no fixed distance from the signal that the first 2 grids are placed and the distance apart they are, so no easy answer on that. I will come back to that. The other 2 grids are placed at the signal One ahead of and one beyond the signal They are placed touching each other The joint being on the centre line of the signal post. So that bit is easy. For a train to stop at that signal it has to be going slowly enough to do so at a certain point approaching the signal. That depends on if the track is level up hill or down hill and the distance is worked out from that. In model form unless you have a huge layout it is unlikely you can place the outer grids in a scale distance position. So as Dave has done with the AWS ramps the only way is to move them in to a less than scale distance from the signal. So supposing a train has a single yellow aspect. At a certain point we know that train has to be going at for example 30mph to stop at the next red signal. At that point a TPWS grid is fitted On the real train that sets a timer running The second grid is placed the distance the train would travel in until the timer stops running. If it reaches the 2nd grid before the timer stops running the brakes are applied because we know It must be going over 30mph as it has taken less time to cover the distance. The timer runs for 1218 milliseconds on freight locos and 974 ms on passenger trains. The minimum distance apart these 2 grids can be placed is 6 metres. and the maximum is 36 metres. For the model I would place them around a 20 ton brake van apart. The minimum distance that the 2nd grid to the red signal can be placed is 15 metres from the red signal and the maximum is 450 metres. For the model I would place it around 3 or 4 coach lengths away or half way between your yellow distant signal and your red signal. I know I have gone on a bit here but I hope you can make sense of this and have a compromise that looks OK.

      This is great detail David many thanks for posting. Not sure if you have heard of or used TMC for any modelling requirements, can advise their stock rooms are amazing worth a look on their web site www.themodelcentre.com

    • @cedarcam
      @cedarcam Před 7 lety

      No problem I am pleased I could help you a little. A little extra info is that freight only lines are not fitted with TPWS and the pair of speed sensing grids are also used where there are severe speed limits on fast lines Example at Morpeth to ensure trains are slowing down to the restricted speed before entering the curve. Also Yes Dave TMC have some interesting items.

      Hi, I have a Lenovo laptop. It runs on windows 8.1 (which I dont like!), but didnt want to upgrade to Windows 10 incase it screwed things up with railmaster. I only really use the laptop for railmaster ;-) Dave

      DaveClass47 Thank you for your reply I use Apple so will need a pc with windows and had heard people have problems on 10 just a case of finding one with windows 8 I guess. I really love your layout and watching the progress.👍

    • @DeanPark
      @DeanPark  Před 7 lety +1

      Hi Ross, thanks very much. while windows 8.1 is really frustrating to use and navigate, compared to windows 10, it seems to allow the Railmaster to work with no problems!
