Wait. Seriously. You have a hair dresser over zoom! That is the most mind blowing thing I've ever heard. And incredibly useful! 😮😮😮😮
I've never beard if such a thing, crazy! I cut my own curly hair, but not over zoom 😂
2023
True. I use Daisy too. She's the best.
Mind blowing! But I love it. I guess it's the next step after haircut tutorials on CZcams.
Does daisy have a last amen or contact info?
that is way more effort and time than my adhd would allow me to put into something at once but i really wish i could because your hair looks amazayn
Working on my curls because a hyperfixation for a while so it worked out 😂
@@elyse_myers😂😂
I have the same problem. I found that using a mix of egg and lemon can work as a sort of 3-in-1 for shampoo, conditioner, and styling products (at least, it works really well with holding rag curls). I still struggle with the task of having to make my shampoo every time I want to wash my hair, but this way is far less overwhelming for me than the alternative.
Do you have a similar hair type? Elyse has curls similar to my moms hair type, and I gave her JVN Air Dry Cream (really more of a gel with the look of a cream) and it’s a one and done product. She typically just likes a gel, and I also gave her a small bottle of the same Ouidad gel used in this video, and she really loves that as well- she said it’s the best gel she’s ever used. I have no idea if this is your hair type or not, but I firmly believe you can find one product that works well for your hair type, learn how to air dry your hair, and work with what you’ve got!
One step at a time 💙
Zoom hairdresser! That is GOLD.
It really is isn’t it!?! People out here saying technology and the net is taking jobs away but it’s actually creating job ops too!
I'm so glad that this option exists. The amount of times I've cancelled appointments because i'm having trouble leaving my house ❤ this is so enlightening
@@Type_null14 same! As an introvert with anxiety caused by severe complex PTSD and a newborn and toddler AND becoming a single mum while pregnant (BD hasn’t even MET his latest child 4 months in!) AND just going back to uni full time (online units only as I can’t afford Childcare atm) … I cancel appointments just so I don’t have to deal with the fake surface level convo that takes place in salons or the even worse therapy sessions the hairdresser is performing mid-perm - on a client she’s just met… making them feel like they have a new best friend but really she’s just twisting their brain more then their darn hair! At least this is a silly functional appointment! No time

@@olivialovesdesigndamn, I just wanted to say I've never met someone who described the way I feel about hairdressers so accurately. I've always felt like a freak for avoiding salons and cutting my hair at home, but I am glad other people get it too!!
I wish this was a thing for guys, but it’s really hard to get something like a skin fade right by yourself
Elyse is so captivating to listen to that I, a dude who went bald in his early 20s and only ever had straight hair before I started shaving it, watched this whole video and was like “huh those are some great recommendations, I should check them out” before realizing that I will literally never use any of this
(The curls look amazing, btw!)
Hahaha this is the best comment I've seen in a while. Thanks for making me smile today😁
@KitchenOnTheLeft I’m sorry I must apologize for as I couldn’t continue to read your comment after i read went bald I simply could not stop laughing 😂
Cute lmao
I love this 😂

@@ripmarble I’m sorry you’re experiencing loneliness. Journaling, therapy, and not shutting people out the way I usually like to helps a little bit. 😭❤️

Zoom hair cuts? Man, this world just gets more interesting by the day! You look beautiful!
The hair stylist part is so real. I couldn't get an appointment with my normal girl and the person I went to was like distracted practically the whole time she was working on my hair (simply by the conversation we were having) and my hair just did not curl up how I'd hoped it would after.
Me watching EVERY SECOND intently despite having acres of stick-straight hair. I cant explain it. 🤷🏼♀️
It's curl envy. I have it too.
Same tho lol
@@robynriches1333 TRUE they're so bouncy & luscious.
@@robynriches1333 i think we all do lol. love my straight hair, just wish it would hold a curl every once in a while 😂
Girl be grateful you've straight hairs you've no idea how much we curly hair ppl have to suffer, my curls are frizzy asf plus these curly hair products are so expensive and time consuming and you've to be consistent with it, you can't style your hairs as you can't every hairstyle looks ugly and curly hairs takes forever to grow in length 😭
As a girl who has had naturally curly hair her entire life, do NOT use a clarifying shampoo every wash day or every day! Clarifying shampoos are great because they’re meant to strip out all the product and build up, but they can also strip out the moisture in your hair with repeated use. So it can actually damage and dry out your hair if you use it all the time! I suggest clarifying shampoo every couple washes, and use a hydrating shampoo and moisturizing conditioner as well! BUT if you use a *gentle* clarifying shampoo (the Giovanni brand had a great one!), you can use if every wash (assuming you aren’t washing your hair every day anyways), followed by hydrating shampoo. Curly hair doesn’t have as much moisture as straight hair because the texture of the curls stops the moisture from going all the way from scalp/root to end. So curly girls, make sure to moisturize and hydrate your curls!! :)) hope this helps y’all!! ❤
I think this video was suppose to b a joke she's a comedian
@@hannypressley343 what’s the joke
@@hannypressley343 I’m pretty sure it’s not a joke because she’s talked about how she was trying to get her natural curls back or something to that effect before
Super duper helpful, thank you! 💖
I do an apple cider vinegar wash once a month - I’ve found it just as effective at removing build up as clarifying shampoos, but it doesn’t dry my hair out like they do.
i’m in Cosmetology school and we’re learning cutting rn- my teacher teaches us the proper way to cut curly and textured hair so it follows the natural curl pattern so you can keep length and have the proper fall of hair
I hate getting haircuts, but when it's time I do it myself.
Saame! I haven't had a hair cut for 6-7 years 😂
Same. A hairdresser will never cut my hair again!
She tells you how to cut your hair on fricken zoom?! Daisy must be protected at all costs. She is for the people ❤
I went curly-girl a couple years ago and it’s been so gratifying. I love seeing you be and act as excited as I feel inside about it 😊 🙏
I'm letting my hair grow out from having a shaved head for 5+ years, and daaamn it's gotten curly af! So fun!
My hair is also newly curly and I also find it so fun!! I think people who have wrestled with styling their curls for years are maybe less amused 😂
The curls look amazing. I have pretty straight hair and always wanted curly hair growing up. I can't hold a curl to save my life lol. Beautiful inside and out Elyse. 😊
Trust me, you don’t want curly hair lol 😅 it looks nice when it cooperates, but it rarely does
My hair's straight, thin and fine but there's a lot of it so it never stays in any kind of ponytail or braid. Just slips right out
and here is the full curl tutorial I posted a few weeks ago! ❤️ czcams.com/video/hnexWgZWCVA/video.html
This longer curl tutorial is GOLD! My frizzy, confused 80s teen hair needed this direction! 👍😎
You had me until the zoom cut. If I tried that, I would be half bald and missing an ear. 😅
1-Love Daisy. Wish more hairstylists could/would help people learn to cut and style their own hair. Not sure how she makes it work, but glad she does.
2-You look so confident and happy in this video. I'm still new to your content, and this is the least anxious and flustered I've seen you. Glad you love your hair. It's beautiful.❤
I had a stylist say that curly hair is very forgiving, and when the cut isn’t right it still looks good…
Nope…. it isn’t… and it doesn’t.
When curly hair is cut just right (including no point cutting IMO) it will look absolutely flawless 💅 Even if you just let it air dry after washing and brushing it.
It’s a truly amazing thing to find a stylist who understands curly hair ❤
Honestly, I think every stylist should learn how to cut curly hair, because they would get more clients and help so many women make their natural hair look incredible
For anyone who wants their curls back
1. Cut off the dead ends, just do it.
2. Keep moisture in your hair. Find what works for you. I use serum because it's thick but doesn't leave my hair greasy.
3a-b hair. You don't want to touch your curls too often so they come back on their own. Making it so you only need to wash and go.
Thank you!
@@koalaed I hope it works for you!
How did you find out what hair type you have?
The thing is, everyone's curls are different. Mine are super fragile so I only use products my stylist suggests so honestly I think everyone should talk to their own stylist to know what's best for their hair
I love it that people are really starting to love and appreciate curls... don't feel like an outcast anymore ♥️
I've got ringlets like yours down to my waist nearly, and olaplex is what has kept that long growth with curls that have a foot of spring
ADD helps me hyper focus on the instructions, and makes me feel knowledgeable having acquired this important information.
Not sure I'll put this into action, but at least I'm 2/3 of the way there!
I, therefore, will use the remaining 1/3 of my goal enjoying Elyse's pretty curls.
Now I feel like I accomplished something today!
THAT'S GREAT!
I must record this on my list of accomplishments!
That is, if I've ever find that pad of paper again... and, then when I do find it, only if I can remember what I was going to write down.
WAIT A SEC!
Maybe I should write it down somewhere else to remind me to write it down somewhere else.
WELL, WELL!
I believe I have successfully accomplished 2 things today!
I'm on a roll!
Don’t forget to mention that a curly cut is often best done dry so you can cut each curl to ensure preservation of the curl pattern.
I finally got a denman brush! Best purchase ever for sure!!
It feels like a jackpot to find a curly hair content creator that literally has my same curl pattern, hair color, and even an incredibly similar facial structure! I just found a hair stylist that actually works well with me and my hair and next time I'm going to show her your hairstyling video to ask for a cut like yours. This has been so unbelievably helpful to start getting my hair back to a place where I like it.
I have the same curl pattern!
Do you happen to know what this curl type is called? And tips or recommendations in general for taking care of them?😊
I’m a mixed race person and hiding like curly natural hair has been a part of racism for hundreds of years and I feel like just now white women are also starting to realize how much it’s affected themselves too if they have curly hair. I think it’s a big step for making everybody affected no matter the e race or gender more confident in their own hair and accepting the narratives that people who look all different types of ways look beautiful. I’m so happy that you’re getting your natural hair back and it’s making you feel better and be more healthy! You look amazing!

@@lottie1144 you seem triggered, and for what reason?
Don't use conditioner after shampooing if you're doing an olaplex treatment. It won't work as well if there's product in the way. Sending hugs!
I noticed that, too. Olaplex's directions say to use before shampoo, but I guess they've told people it works better after shampoo. But I do think it needs to be before conditioner.
@@karyon1007if it’s a clarifying day I tend to do - clarify, olaplex 3, light nourishing shampoo then conditioner or mask
It is so so hard to find someone that can successfully do curly cuts I’m discovering. Lots of people have no idea and learning some tips for yourself definitely goes a long way 🤞
Thank you! I bought Olaplex 0 and 3 because of you and my curls are like night and day better
Tell me I’m not the only one who thinks Elyse looks like she could be in a Dove commercial or hair commercial, or Colgate commercial with her hair like that. It looks so nice. 💗
Meanwhile men using wiper fluid to wash their hair:
Yes, because we all have a bi-weekly meeting to determine how we all should act and especially how we should wash our hair.
@@schakalicious6023Pretty sure it's a joke about how a lot of bathing products marketed towards men claim to be suitable for hair, skin, face, body and probably car to boot.
I am so glad you posted this because I have wanted to complement your hair foreeeever.
Your hair brings me joy!
I can’t wait til I’m rich to finally be able to take care of myself properly
Your hair is so gorgeous!
Omg I'm sooo happy you wrote (and linked) the products in the description!! I like to screenshot product recommendations and so many creators don't write them out so either I have to screen shot each individual product (which is impossible bc they're always moving all over the screen) or try to remember what each one is called and make my own list.
Really appreciate you just putting them in the description 💕
A hair dresser through Zoom?!? Omg that’s revolutionary! “Empowering “ is such a perfect word for it! She’s literally giving you the knowledge to take care of yourself. I love that!
Say huh? You got a virtual hairdresser? Lmao but you cut your own hair? Reminds me of when i worked at the Melting Pot and taught my customers how to cook their own food at the table. 🤣😂🤣
If you don't have a clarifying shampoo you can mix a teaspoon of baking soda to the shampoo in your hand and wash as normal.
Her hair is BEAUTIFUL
Expensive products do make a difference for curly hair, I absolutely love Kérastase, their products are so good!
Running to go buy all there products
You should style if differently. It looks kind of like Shirley temple lol beautiful curls though. But it’s not doing your face justice
You ain’t kidding about Ouidad!! Life changing!!
I love that your hair is amazing AND YOU KNOW IT
Thank you so much. I had no idea I had curly hair until yesterday because of you. I’m 32. Have you done a non wash day video? What do I do on day 2?
I don’t have curly hair but I know how to style it. Sleep with your hair up in a protective style (try googling “the pineapple” method for tying up your hair at night. The next day, you can use a styling mist or even water to refresh your curls, and then finger style aka twirl any curls that you want to redo with a little bit of product. I hope this helps!

Just want to say there was a recall and a case building on olaplex for extreme hair loss due to their products! So if you've seen hair fall out and use this product... stop.
Yes yes yes. As a curly hair specialist you have said facts ❤
I don't usually comment, but I just had to say this is the best curly hair advice short I've ever seen. The Ouidad Advanced Climate Control Featherlight Touch-Up Gel Cream is also absolutely incredible. Made my day 7 hair look like day 1!
Products don't matter what matters is you over condition the hair. Most curly hair people need lots of moisture to make it happen so lots of conditioner. I literally use no products after I get out of the shower and my hair is curly as f. Shower every day and apply lots and lots of conditioner.
Products do matter though? Curly hair definitely needs more moisture than straight hair, but just conditioner doesn't mean hair is going to have perfect curls. Each curly hair is different and needs different things. And not everyone needs to shampoo their hair every day.
I’m sorry but no amount of conditioner is going to stop me from looking like an electrocuted poodle
Ahhhh a zoom diy cut...idk but that worries me lol
Omg a curly hair cut assistant over zoom!! How cool! Since the lovkdown stuff I started cutting my curly hair myself at home. I honestly just wing it because my curly hair is so forgiving 😅. Plus the curly salons here in Houston are basically 150$+ minimum. 😬 but I have to admit curly hair stylists are important and cutting ends often do keep curls healthy and bouncy. I'm so glad I restored my curls from all the damage it was so worth it😊
Your hair is beautiful! I think if you fluffed it up to break the curls up a little it would look more natural. Something I found out after figuring out I had curly hair.
Looks like too much work for me but I love your hair, so good for you!
I'll probably get me that Denman brush, though.
I definitely took it in baby steps! I would suggest starting with the denman brush and then getting a good mousse and gel! Everything else can wait!
This hair looks crazy though, I need you to run your fingers through it. Why are curly girls so afraid of friz?
I'm really digging this style. You stand out, in a good way.
Christ! After applying 6 products I would feel like need to wash my hair again.
I only have 2 products in my hair once it’s done being washed, it’s mousse and gel
It's really normal for curly hair, especially if damaged. I didn't know this for years, had no idea i was doing anything wrong or that my hair was secretly curly. My hair had all kinds of struggles that I didn't realize meant it was actually curly but needed certain products and styling in order to take its shape, otherwise it's a bad mess.
A lot of us have needier hair than hers and actually have several leave-in products- mousse, creams, protectants, gels and oils... that's why we need that clarifier. But if u find the right products for you and use them the right way, it doesn't feel like anything is in your hair at all, except your hair is magically so much smoother and softer and holds its shape. Just like her, I went from frizzy mess to gorgeous curls when I figured out the right products and techniques. 😁
So you don’t understand hair care, at all, but you felt compelled to comment.🥴

Damaged wavy/curly hair can look straight even though it is not.
Damaged curly hair might be like... kind of straight looking but it's puffy and no amount of straight hair care will make it look like normal straight hair LOL. No amount of product is going to create ringlets if your hair isn't actually curly lol

Step 1: remove all the built up products from your hair.
Step 2: build up products on your hair.
😅
Actually buildup entails more than just hair products. It can be minerals from water when you shower, it can be build up from chlorine from swimming in a pool, it can remove build up of dead skin cells, and sebum. It can entail a lot of stuff
Hairdresser ABSOLUTELY matters. I go to Erin Shebaugh in Raleigh, NC at Plum Atelier. Refuse to let ANYONE else cut my hair because each cut easily lasts 6 months - and my hair is a hyper thick, waist-length, striped combo of 1B/3C hair due to mixed heritage. It took me 10 years (started looking at 13y/o) to find someone who didn't make my combo texture curly/kinky/wavy hair look like a frizzy triangle.
my curls have been coming back over the past few weeks and I've been loving it, just need to maintain the care for them.
I have naturally curly hair, but I'm also 50 and have a full head of silver, grey and white. It doesn't curl like it used to so thanks for the protein suggestion!! I miss my curls!! And it would look soooo good with curly silver/white!!
Bro ur hair looks like a dream. I could get lost in it and I’d be all the better for it.
Omg...I love this new side of you, Elyse!!!!
This! This the video every curly gurls should watch!
Brad's stuff has been a Godsend. I use the same product for my spawn (she got her curls from her dad's side), and I use his recalibrating system on myself (I've been dying my hair neon colors since 1999-2000).
Your hair is so shiny and beautiful. Your methods work.
Just throwing in my two cents: Protect your hair while you sleep! Use smooth pillowcases - the silkier the better, and avoid flannel - to reduce friction and tangling, and if you have long enough hair, braid or twist it up into a bun or some
other protective style, and regardless of whether your hair is long or short, a good bonnet really helps. I’ve battled frizzy, dull, damaged hair my whole life because nobody in my family knew how to take care of curly hair (everyone else has straight hair, except my dad who kept it cropped short), then 6-8 months ago I started twisting up my hair at night, and just that has made my hair so much healthier and more manageable.
And it might seem contrary, but be careful to not shampoo too often. Do what works for you, as everyone’s body does things a little different, but most people don’t need to shampoo every day. Over washing just dries out your hair and gets you to spend more money on products to fix/disguise the damage.
Loving your natural curly hair! Gorg!
THANK YOU for the tips! You're the best

gel and mousssssse best combo EVER!! I will never be into one styling product and not getting haircuts from a professional curly stylist + treatments.
