this experiment failed, but at least it was proof my skincare was working for me! For those who don’t know, the caveman routine was viral on Reddit forums years ago, and it’s something I tried in the past as well, without much success. Traditionally, the cavemen routine is doing absolutely nothing to your face. No topicals, no makeup, creams, treatments, etc. I hadn’t planned to do it, but was in a rough mental place and sick for a few months, so it sort of happened naturally, and did wreak some havoc on my skin! What I stopped doing: ⁃ Using retinoids / exfoliants ⁃ Using moisturizers ⁃ Using morning cleansers (didn’t do this much anyways) ⁃ Using brightening products ⁃ Using hydrating serums What I still used during this experiment: ⁃ Sunscreen (when going out which wasn’t a lot) ⁃ A cleanser at night to wash the SPF off What happened to my skin: I’ve been so accustomed to using retinoids, exfoliants, and moisturizer, that I think stopping cold turkey was a big mistake! I know some people who have wonderfully clear skin and do nothing but wash with water, but for me, that just doesn’t seem to work! I also love my skincare routine, and think of it as a self care step, so I am so happy to be over that state and on the other side. My skin right now is in recover mode, but it’s getting better! Have you ever tried the caveman routine? Would you?
For the caveman regimen u shouldn't use sunscreen and cleanser neither, since theoretically it could be a factor for acne, but i know how tough that would be.
it's not "just" a pimple, though! cystic acne HURTS. it's PAINFUL and it physically feels awful. at times it even hurts to put skincare products on if your cystic acne is severe. i don't blame anybody for not wanting acne whether it's one pimple or many cystic acne bumps cos that stuff sucks. for some people not using products works for them but i know i gotta be using some products to keep my own cystic acne in check and that's okay!
That comment is in response to people saying “relax it’s just a pimple”! I totally agree. cystic acne hurts so badly and the scars take forever to heal 😞
I did my own modified version of the caveman method where I only washed my face once a day. Worked like a charm. Been cleared of cystic acne for 7 years. Still do my modified version to this day.
Same. My rosacea was getting so unbearable, burning, redness, swelling. I did everything the dermatologist recommended, fragrance free, gentle, everything. I gave up, nothing worked. one day I decided I wasn’t going to put anything on my face, I was done. All I did was wash it once a day, at night with gentle face wash. For two and a half weeks I was miserable. My face was so dry, it forgot how to moisturize itself, it was tight and dull and my fine lines looked like deep wrinkles, I would be lying if I said I wasn’t worried at first. At three weeks the redness and burning in my face went away, after a month it had a normal texture again and started to produce its own sebum again. I don’t know much, but I do know all the products that the dermatologist recommended ruined my face and it wasn’t until I did nothing that my skin healed itself.
The experiment failed because you used sunscreen which clogs pores... And then you didn't use face cleanser to get the sunscreen off. Try again but don't use anything!
Even if you want to strip down your skin care, don't go cold turkey at least keep 3. It's back to basic cleanser, moisturizer & sunscreen. Edit: let go those toner, serum, ampoule and mask. Use basic cleanser like cerave or cetaphil. Choose standard basic necessity moisturizer with ceramide & glycerin. And standard physical sunscreen.

Do it for a year and make another video.
Just look at all the products you’ve used. Your skin has grown accustom to needing these things mentally as well too
Wait we can get rid of dark circles?.. Tell me more.
I’d like to know too 🤔
What did you use to lighten your acne scars? I’ve been struggling for over 4 years😭

Once a day is a great practice! I did that for a while and found it effective when I was on accutane!
Wash with what? Do you moisturize?
Do you use moisturizer or anything or just wash once a day?

I tried that for months and it did nothing. Trying the caveman routine with some ACV to see if that works!
