    I stopped washing my face completely last year (reduced to once a week) and my cystic acne completely cleared like a miracle. I stopped using products, makeup, creams, and my skin is now the best it has ever been. I have saved a tonne of money and I'm also saving the environment. I now don't believe in lies the beauty industry tells us. They profit off our insecurities and our society makes us feel we are not good enough. We are enough, ladies (and men). We are enough.

    I had horrible acne for decades.. I got facials regularly, bought expensive high end face cleansers, got chemical peels, and even took Accutane and the only thing that completely cleared my skin was to wash my face with Luke warm water only.. I've been subjecting my self to all sorts of experimentation to put some of the highly spoken skincare claims to the test, i figured since i have naturally oily skin i would be a good candidate. Testing the claim that dirt and sebum buildup causes acne, honestly, i didn't see any link between an oily dirty face and the frequency of acne, in fact i even went so far as using the same pillowcase for two months, yep that's right...I went months without any morning or night routine at all, only shower, that's it, while my face would feel dirty and greasy sometimes, it wasn't that bad for the most part, even in the summer, spite all the hell my skin went through it stayed acne free, even my skin tone was actually really good, i no longer use anything else than sunscreen and generic micellar to get it off, the hell with the rest, my skin is excellent now, the skincare industry acts as if our skin is completely inept to care for it self in every step of the way which is frankly nonesense.

    Thank you for sharing your story! My hormonal acne is worsening with age. It started when I was 15 and at 25 my chin, forehead and cheeks are full of acne scars from the coming and going of acne during my period. I am trying to wash only with water, exfoliate gently with a soft towel, and keep my skin moisturized with jojoba and argan oils and some gentle moisturizers. My skin is improving already. Robyn, I went and bought fragrance free face wash the other day - first time in my life I ever used such a product. Result: my skin is super irritated and red and feels like having a sunburn! I think the Sodium Laureth Sulfate, the stuff that makes the face wash foam, is the culprit as I've heard a dermatologist say that the foaming ingredient can cause irritation for some people. Lesson learned...Thank you for a very informative video. You're gorgeous and have great skin!

    • @robynsturgess7495
      @robynsturgess7495  Před 3 lety +1

      Thank you for the lovely comment! ☺️You could be very right about the Sodium Laurel Sulfate, generally foaming face washes can be over drying & most likely due to that ingredient. If you do opt for a fragrance free face wash I recommend a cleansing “milk” (without fragrance & SLS) instead, as it won’t be drying. ☺️

    I don't know how to feel about this, especially all the money I have spent on acne products 😫 I have noticed a huge difference between wearing makeup and no makeup. I haven't wore makeup since 2017! Other than Mascara and a little Lippy. I have gone like days without washing my face just because of depression reasons I just had no motivation to take care of myself hygiene wise. My acne was okay, I've noticed my acne gets bad because of the way I sleep, if you find yourself sleeping on your face, you need to change your pillowcase more often, and because sometimes I drool a lot, I would wake up with dry spit around my mouth, TMI but I fixed by sleeping upright on my back so I'm not on my side drooling on my pillow. I know it sounds so annoying but drinking water is literally the key to everything, what you eat and drink comes through your pores. I know it's a struggle, it definitely has been for me, to cut out greasy, oily and deep fried foods but it does help a lot. I try to cut down eating junk food by only having a few goodies on Saturday, my cheat days. I also made it a new year resolution to not have any soda! And it's been 4 months so far and my skin is a bit better. I will give this no washing face thing a try to see how it turns out. And use the micellar water. I just don’t know what to do with all the products I've already bought.

      It's not good to clean your face too much. Ideally, try to do it only at the end of the day to clean the dirt of the day (as for me, if I didn't put stuff in my face and stayed home, I tried to wash it only once every 2 days. It helps with my little rosacea). Try to avoid tap water too, that's what dries the skin the most. Personally, I use rice water with a tiny bit of glycerin in it. After a while, your skin should start to be much better. Of course, if you use a sunscreen, I don't think that it will be sufficient to take it out. Maybe an oil base cleanser can be interesting for that (I am still in my research on that) and take the oil base cleanser off without tap water, but with the rice water. I hope something like that can improve your skin a lot after it get accostum to it! :)

I think tap water dries the skin even more than many skin cleansing products that are currently on the market as many of them now respect the skin's pH. But, only using rice water at the end of the day to wash off the simple dirt of the day (unless using makeup or sunscreen of course) would at least be worth a try (and yes, using moisturizers if necessary)!

    Guys i have a question please answer from your own experiences.
    Okay so i stopped washing my face and yes my acne disappeared.i have been washing my face with water in the morning and applying cream and that's it.
    I am also mot applying sunscreen but want to apply it for the protection.
    But at the night how do you guys remove sunscreen if you are not using a cleanser.
    Please help🥲

      @robynsturgess7495  Před rokem

      Hi friend. I suggest you still apply your sunscreen as it is a very important step. You can either remove it with a microfibre face cloth or Micellar water in the evening. Both work great. 😊

      Not necessarily. Micellar water should do the trick. If you are worried you can use a mild cleanser like Cerave but only at night 🤗
