Not even a sunscreen. Whenever I tried to use it every day it gives me breakouts . The same for toners, serums (specially niacinamide), etc. And when I stop using them bum! Clear skin. The only thing I use is a very basic moisturiser called Mixa (is French), a sponge to exfoliate my face sometimes, and that’s it. Every skin works differently and genetics also plays a role but I think leaving your skin work by itself is the best thing you can do.

    Things I've realised:
1- Know your skin. Most important and often neglected. If you know your skin can go on just fine without skin care products, then, by all means, save your bucks. And if you know your skin might need the treatment, then do buy products that work for you. Skin care is very personalised.
2- Keep it simple. stop buying x amount of products to use all at once. Less is more.
3- Have a realistic goal. Pick one skin issue you'd like to address at a time and do your thorough research on the best ways to curb it. And don't expect to look like the people on the cover, they aren't real.
4- See a dermatologist. Your issue might be beyond what Kim or Selena are using and/or selling. Meet with a professional that can tell you what your skin needs.
5- More expensive doesn't mean better. Save your money, pay your rent. Opt for cheaper alternatives that will work for you.
6- If it's working for you, stick to it. Don't be intimidated by others raving about some brand or some product. The devil you know is better than the angel you don't know (unless you know what you are using is essential and the brand you are using isn't effective, then you can opt for an alternative).
7- Take it slow. Don't rush your skin and don't force your skin. If it doesn't want a product, move on.
8- Stop your bad habits. Touching your face, not washing your pillow, certain foods that trigger your issues, etc. Some of you know what causes your skin issues, but instead of solving them, you buy all the products in heaven and earth.
9- Take care of your internal too, not just the external. Eat properly, drink water, exercise and all that good stuff. And if you can, buy some supplements you might be lacking that could help improve your diet (consult your doctor first and watch out for "health quacks" trying to sell you a dream)
10- Finally, love yourself at every stage. Gives you a realistic view of where your skin is at each phase and where you want it to go without feeling like it isn't good enough.

Couldn't agree more. Simple products like moisturiser, cleanser and spf caused me to develop rosacea, perioral dermatitis, seborrheic dermatitis and acne which honestly left me suicidal I was in so much pain. 5 months no skincare and my skin is finally healing. Some of us have skin that is too sensitive for products but we are brainwashed by the beauty industry to use all these products to 'fix' the problems that these products actually create in the first place!
I admire the message you're putting out there, but what is so bad about wrinkles and signs of aging that we need to consider botox anyway? I think women have become victim to a sexist agenda that we need to have higher beauty standards then men and can't age in the same way which is so sad and unempowering for women. Same with sunscreen (which is necessary I know, but NOT every day!), active ingredients like vitamin c or retinol, sheet masks, toners … my skin is the happiest when I ignore it for a week. TIP: just let your skin BREATHE YALL. WATER AND AIR. Let me ask you this: when you cut your skin, do you need a product for it to heal ? Or does the skin FIX ITSELF? Or what about a bruise? Sure you might need Neosporin for an infection, but does the skin HEAL ITSELF OR NOT? I cut out all face skincare EXCEPT for spf as I do believe that is still a necessity no matter what, I dropped my cleanser, moisturisers, serums and elixirs and I can say for sure my skin improved, all I do for my skin now is gently wash with water using a silicone brush and applied an spf and at night just washed off with water. I learned after years as an esthetician that the skincare industry is indeed one giant scam. The penny dropped when I realized that so many of my new clients that were just starting to take an interest in skin care after years of “neglecting” their skin, were in fact the clients with the healthiest, loveliest skin! During lockdown I decided to do an experiment and I quit all skin products except my Cerave face wash and moisturizer. 3 years on that’s still all I use and my skin has never looked better. The only other product I’ve added is jojoba oil which I’ll dab on for a little facial massage twice a week. I also use the jojoba oil sparingly as a body oil and hair treatment when needed. Oh, and I also use a terry wash cloth when cleansing my face, and that takes care of exfoliation perfectly. Everything I try just causes redness and more sensitivity and I have never been able to use sunscreen or even a bare minimum moisturiser without just becoming a greasy mess and looking awful. I think I have to take a break from everything including water because my poor skin is at the point where it might not even recover again if I’m not careful. The ingredients list for even the most allegedly minimal products are just ridiculously huge yet nobody seems to see how bad they must be for your skin.

I would agree with everything you’re saying, I do think it’s personal though,
Everyone’s skin is different and requires different levels of care.. Overdoing it can definitely make things worse but there are a few simple needs like cleansing, SPF and maybe exfoliating especially if you’re getting older.. the other stuff is just overkill unless you’re trying to treat a specific condition like acne, hyperpigmentation, scars etc.. in that case you’d want to up exfoliation via chemical or physical and maybe add some things to lighten hyperpigmentation.
Overall though I agree keeping it simple is best!

I used a body soap on to wash my face (a mild soap) and that was all for years. Everyone says that my skin is glowing and healthy. That led me to thinking like "I should take care of my skin" so did a skin care researches and stressed me out like sh*t. What toner should i use? What cleanser? Double cleansing? What brand? What ingredient?. And although my skin still looks the same (clear), I started to aware every single area of my face and think like "I should treat this pore" "I should treat this line" BECAUSE skin care industry told me to. I lost my confidence as "Oh, I have a very good skin" although my skin does!
But nowadays, I told myself "Skin will always look like skin" "Skin is clearly not a glass so will has its textures and a few things a skin".

But that is occasional.
I am close to my 30s and what i realize that your skin and hair will look healthy if you have a healthy lifestyle. That includes 7/8 hours of good sleep at night, waking up early in the morning and doing some exercise, good gut health, eating homemade heathy meal , you should include every vitamin into your daily diet, stop overthinking about hair and skin, and of course smart phone, laptop less cause their lights are the main problem For our skin and eyes. I know it will take time to make this habit but it will give you so much physical and mental peace. The gut health plays a huge role for the skin and hair. Dont waste money on unnecessary skincare products, instead invest your money on your diet ..

When I was eating healthier, drinking more water and exercising my skin was more consistently clear. And this was way before I started to use K-beauty.

It's super easy to get caught up in the excitement of skincare and overdo it when you first discover the subject. You slap a million different things on your face and then end up wondering why your skin looks worse after a year than it did before you started (ask me how I know). 1. Identify your issue(s). 2. Target the issue(s) 3. Don't be seduced by the next big thing; there will ALWAYS be a next big thing. 4. Pare down to the minimum routine needed to achieve your aims. If you're only targeting one thing, you do NOT need 30 products day and night. 5. Leave well enough alone if your products are working. You do not need just three more things to take it to the mythical "next level."

I think at the end of the day there are honestly only two products that work long term. Sunscreen and retinoids. I think if you consistently use these for years you will look younger, however 99.9% of the other “anti-aging” stuff is garbage. Moisturizer is nice as well in providing immediate hydration and of course cleanser for obvious purposes, especially if you wear makeup. My husband’s routine is sunscreen in the morning and retinal at night and his skin looks better than mine. I am thinking I’ll ditch most of my skincare products and do the same.
Edit: Exfoliation is also not BS, I definitely see an immediate difference when I use the Ordinary’s AHA BHA peel. Lots of people say that product ruined their skin but I think it’s one of the few exfoliants that actually contains enough actives to work, just be careful and don’t necessarily leave it on your skin the full ten minutes

my aunt is 60 and has used skincare regularly since her 20s- its worked for her, she looks incredibly youthful, like a woman in her 40s. everyones experience with skin care is personal and not the same. also the poors skincare routine is literally just cleanser, sunscreen, and maybe retinol- which is what most trained professionals advise you only rly use anyway. along with having a healthy diet and regular exercise, which shld be obvious.. and those creams to prevent wrinkles? theyre clinically proven to work ...

@@user-gc3rv6jw3n hey, yes it has worked wonders for me. I cleanse my face and dry it. Then I make my hands wet and tap my face a little bit with the fresh water. I put 2 little drops of oil in my wet palm and spread it over my face. If you do it like that, it will keep the face moisturized once the water has dried and won't leave an oily film if you don't use too much oil. Hope it helps!

I'm late but this is true. The reality is all these skin issues is all stress stress-related. Most people don't even realize to stop stressing about things. Also, I noticed back in the day when I was in my 20s I used to be outside like crazy, and even be in the sun, people don't realize the infrared that comes from the sun has benefits. I look back to when I was younger I barely had skin problems. The best healthy thing for your skin is to try your best to live a stressless life, eat fruits and vegetables or supplements and take in collagen, go outside and get some infrared from the sun, or invest in an infrared face mask or a facial tool that has infrared lighting. That's all you need. No need to by separate skincare whatever you use on your body you use on your face same with lotion. That's what I do the only extra thing is toners and maybe a serum and sunblock if I know I'm going to be outside for a long time. I can't deny I did fall for the skincare trap because everyone said once you are in your 30s it's important to start using skincare. Most of the skincare products don't even work and I somewhat blame the k beauty. it's the reason why people are so obsessed because they see Asian people with youthful skin but don't even realize half of it is filtered and makeup.

    • @alyssaalgarin771
      @alyssaalgarin771 Před 3 měsíci

Well, what I said wasn't wrong at all. I just generalized stress. I didn't mention medical conditions for that reason. Stressors could be anything food-related or environment-related. When I say stop stressing are things you have control of and even some conditions you have control of. But if you want to buy skin care go ahead I didn't say people can't. But for the most part, skincare is a scam and I didn't say I don't use skincare. My comment is a general statement and my experience. But what is factual is eating things that benefit your health and skin and also factual is that infrared lighting is also beneficial. Infrared lighting is good for the skin and overall health. As for most comments and videos, a lot of people are aware skincare is a scam. If you don't think that way that's fine no one is judging continue using them.

    Jesus H Christ! $70 for a moisturizer ??
Some people go all out don’t they lol
I use cheap sht like Vaseline or Aquaphor and Im gold all day. No day creams, night creams, oils, serums, balms, toners .. honestly I don’t even know what half of this stuff is but I hear people always talking about them.
All I do is cleanse skin with a pine tar based soap in the shower, exfoliate, (Im a full body scaper so that’s part of my routine) , mild scrub with borax after , and moisturize with either Vaseline or Aquaphor.
    Nothing else. No special products.
I think it’s a balancing game. You don’t want to have no routine at all but neither an overly done routine with the entire store of Sephora in your bathroom lol
My theory is that anything that disrupts the skin barrier (microbiome) will cause issues. This can either be done by all the products people slather on, the lack of applying simple products that will re-establish the skin barrier, a bad diet .. or all 3.
I’ve also noticed when I take a healthy diet seriously, my skin also improves from that.
I remember when I was 11. I have never EVER washed my face. I had perfect skin. My brother was having acne problems so mom was buying all these acne cleansers for him.
Then one day mom tells me it’s time i start washing my face. So she used on of those acne cleansers she was using on my brother.
It dried the living hell out of my skin and the next day .. I’m not even joking .. I got my very first pimple !!! From an acne cleanser!!! Fkml

My skin used to look way nicer way before I started using facial products and aloe vera on my face
Now my face looks so old and dull
Those products have caused my face too loose it’s natural complexion
    Skincare isn’t for everybody
The only thing that I used to do is wash my face face with water which have never caused me acne

    yupp.
just sticking with the basic products and focusing on the diet is key.
and of course, if you do have a specific medical problem like acne vulgaris (which, sounds like you didn't), you want to help your skin with active ingridients, but usually the drug store products your dermatologist reccommends are enough for that. they usually don't solve the problem though, just help. focus on healing on the inside. that's what i have to keep reminding myself of time and time again

    • @COABF
      @COABF  Před 11 měsíci

Yes, thank you for understanding my point! Many people assume I do not use skincare, which is not the case; I minimize the basics and only use treatments when experiencing a specific issue.
I think diet, and intuition (listening to your skin/body) is the key! :)

I struggle with cystic acne for almost 9 years now, and throughout the time my skin just got worse and worse, and every problem that was "solved", lead to another. I tried every kind of cream, chemical peeling, laser and other cosmetic procedures (Also Accutane for a year) and at this point, after so much time and money invested, my face is in it's baddest place, after all the medicine, procedures and cosmetic failures. So yes, i also think it's all a big scam.

I agree with you 100%. I'm sick of it too. so much makeup and products keep on coming again and again yes and they just want ur money in my years they never did make like this they always had one good brand and it was available for your years and today they still hold their name these new brands don't do nothing for your skin. I'm glad I understand my skin and others, and I feel that using too much can make skin worse you only need lots of moisturizer eat a good diet. that's it. I only use a moisturizer sun screen water splash for freshness and a mask now and again that's it and I don't even do non of this sometimes and I feel thr know thing that's works is a mask and a moisturizer. who said we need sun scream the sun don't cause cancer it's the creamers that cause it and it's ingredients we get naturally vitmin D from the sun so why would they cause cancer wrong. and when these products go into the blood stream it's does cause an effect like eating something that's gone off it shows on the skin. drinking water eating better save your money and go for a quite time with urseld I go to the movies and I enjoy I wish no one ever ever purchase from these celebrities every other flicking day they have a new product coming out just so they can make money please please stop buying this crap This video is so good and should go viral and yet they don't understand there is a crises and people need money not spend on there brands people have kids spend the money on your kids forget about these stupid brands. it's okay once on a blue moon but I bet we all have loads of makeup n products at home use that up and don't buy again I have now stopped and just focus on my health rather products what happen when you get so old and you can't even get to purchase ur products because ur fragile it will be sad just let the face look gracefully older it won't look bad. I know so many people they use nothing on the skin and have fabulous skin. And hay ur skin is beautiful don't ruine by this shit propduxts that costs so much money you find out you have no money left for thr important things just in case ur on a low budget I know I am. I have limit to what I spend in a day but what I spend it on is important I prefer to eat good foods look after health without health it's nothing skin will look beautiful on its own if you have oily skin just spirits it with water and a tissue and ur done. luv this video and I'm so happy you put it out there and you absolutely right about everything you mentioned in your video. So for long comment but I get dumb angry with these celebrities lines and stuff they don't work. lol. Thank so much for sharing . Have a great day lovely
