    Being lazy I'd try a squirt of brake clean down it's throat. Then if it's still no start, on Fords, especially with TFI {cause I have seen them fire the plugs, but be dead on the injector pulse.} I usually do noid light on injector, fuel pressure gauge on test port, and a spark tester on the plug wire 3 quick tests at once. With no fuel pressure, ck fuse, inert switch, then go to tank with scope on a rope..But for you trying to help DIYers you approach was spot on.

    I can resonate with your experience man! I've been on my first Mustang job ever - fuel problems - starts, runs ok until operating temp. then breaks up and shuts down...GrrrrRRRRRRR! I try to view the engine compartment as you record - I also have the 3.8 (not MINE) belongs to a non mechanical friend... FUNNY! I like the part about the mouse! I have gone thru that too - livin in the woods having nests in my air cleaner, in the trunk, under the seats, even had 'em running up over the pass seat while I was driving... kept thinking I was seeing floaters moving in my peripheral... sure enuf... little bastard was freaking out cuz the car was moving! The one I'm working on is a 2001/3.8 so like I said, I'm trying to glimpse the engine compartment for similarities to my issue. The FP fender relay location is an absolute engineering joke!!! PLUS I understand the relays are SOLDERED in. C'mon Ford - get a clue!

    Great video Will showing your thought process. One quick way to hear the pump is to remove the gas cap and place ear close to filler neck. Of course, it helps with two people or you could use the microphone on the camera. And like you said, go for the easiest stuff first. And no troubleshooting steps are wrong as long as you get to the final culprit. And man, that shop was cold watching you work. Take care Will and wishing you the best!

    Lol I just had a no crank no start today that kicked my a$$ 3 1/2 hrs chasing a wire that should took 40 mins tops. First mistake I made is trusting the other shops testing (I know that's a big no no but I did). So instead of starting at the easiest testing location I went straight for the pcm thinking they already tried the basics. It took me 40mins just to get to the pcm and do my tests. Then after that checked out I went to the ignition and found a missing power. The power came from the fuse box and for some reason alldata wiring diagram sucked for this certain truck. It labeled 10 red wires as ignition feeds and nothing else plus they all said C1 (I think they accidentally wrote it wrong) . So I checked every red 12/14 gauge wire. All checked out plus I unplugged it with a test light in series a tried to see if I could find it that way. One test light to ground on ignition power I'm missing and touching each red wire with a test light to positive no luck no light. Now Im thinking I have a broken wire from fuse box to ignition. I spend another 40 minutes removing part of the dash only to find everything checks out. I go under the hood remove some brackets and by luck I find the red wire do my series thing and find out I only have 6 inch left before it goes back under the fuse box. So I remove the fuse box for a second time and find the problem. The freaking wire was burnt and changed from red to brown so I didn't see it. I swear it looked like it was made brown. After unplugging that leg of the box you could see it clearly. I unplugged everything but 2 connectors because they didn't have a red 12/14 gauge wire I thought.

      @robinsonsauto  Před 2 lety

      Man that’s a good catch in the end! Trusting other shops and wrong service information at times has led me to redoing prior work/tests just to get back to square one. It’s the worst feeling. I can feel your frustration. the time and effort it takes to trace out the system, not just physically, mentally as well. Most will never know this challenge, especially while being under the gun. Being persistent payed off.
      What do we do in these cases?
      I feel we should get paid this time in full?
      especially if others where there already.
      This experience will add another notch to your already great Skills . These experience make us better and can be the most awarding feeling of accomplishment.
      It’s a repair that can’t be referenced in a time guide or predicted..

    Hello I got the same problem right now. I have a 2003 mustang GT 46 motor. All the fuses are good. I replaced the brain underneath the passenger fender thank God I didn't have to remove the fender I just dropped the splash shield and I got to it. I replaced that I also replaced the fuel pressure sensor on the rail. I replaced the throttle positioning sensor. I replaced the cam sensor right beside the AC compressor which was a pain but quite easy. The inertia switch in the back. I tested that that's good I tested the tank red and black wire. Which was good ignition on it lit up nice ignition off it shut down. Here's where it gets tricky I dropped the gas tank. I went and I bought a brand new fuel pump. Lifetime warranty is called precision for the 203 mustang GT. I installed it plugged everything in. And I still have no fuel pressure. The pump does not turn on doesn't click. Do you have any suggestions. I'm thinking I got it effective fuel pump even though it was brand new. I normally do not give out my email address. But I would really appreciate it if you wrote me back. Course let me know who you are hopefully I want to talk to you the one doing this video. I would really appreciate your help. Now I did notice on the precision pump the wire colors were different from the original fuel pump. I was wondering if that made a difference or could make a difference. I think I have suspicions that the wires might be in the wrong place.it might be a hangover rebuild or whoever put the fuel pump together didn't know what they were doing. But it looks like I got to pull this tank again. Anyway please email me as soon as you can. It's August 26th 2022 on a Saturday my email address is actordanielunger@yahoo.com.

      Same problem, did you find the problem

  • @practicemakesbetter7132

    I did not find voltage at the fuel pump connector or the inertia switch with the ignition switched to the on position, the culprit and easy fix was a 30 Amp fuse that protects the PCM module. The symptoms were the car would not start, the anti theft light flashed quickly and there was no odometer reading. I don't know what caused the PCM fuse to blow, I am a little worried that it could happen again while driving again on a slightly bumpy road.

    nice laid out video here. my old 95 Lexus sc400 that has been sitting for 3 years will crank and crank but no start. after about 3 attempts it will turn over and run fine with no issues. I tried tapping on the tank and that helped one time. i also siphoned the old gas and replaced with fresh gas and at that helped on another time. The problem is once i have it running and turn it off then go to restart it after 30 minutes it wont restart. Can that be the relay or pump? Can I eliminate going down the spark route since it already has turned over and ran fine or will something in the spark chain cause these intermittent issues?
