My mustang was blowing some black smoke and running rough so I put in some HEAT dry gas and Techron and then kind of pushed down hard on the corner of the trunk about 5 times to help get it mixed into the gas. Next thing you know car just dies. Won't start at all, just like in this video. Sure enough, it was the inertia switch! You just saved me a ton of $$$ of the tow and diagnostics fee!! Great video!!! Thanks!!!

I noticed that too-but he only sprayed that amount which was ultimately required. Btw, I’m watching this video from Alaska where it’s currently -9F. The engine of my 2003 Subaru Forester turns over but won’t start, I’m not very mechanical, and it had to be (temporarily) abandoned at the gym parking lot. It’s tempting to buy some Heat fluid, starter fluid, etc…or just bite the bullet on a tow.

Follow up: It started up the very next day. The engine struggled at first-as if fighting to pass fuel & water content. Once the engine warmed up it ran great. Long story short, I drove it to a shop for an oil change.

Don’t be discouraged, especially if you are keeping the car. Had one for 15yrs starting out as a plan Gt, still have 2v motor, but now makes 600hr and is as tame as a v6 and will make a stock hellcat driver think he broke something. The 2v is the way to considering at this point you’re going to be able to do yours own maintenance. So you don’t needed the motor out for repairs. The cobras motor is the same size. Just get beef it up and get the air and fuel in there. Blow the snot out of it. Truly Extreme

I'm not one of those guys that can't admit they're wrong or don't know something, so don't quote me on this, but if I remember correctly, holding the pedal to the floor actually stops all fuel to the motor and doesn't flood the car, but pumping the pedal would.
This was done so that you could clear the cylinders if they were flooded because even if you're not pressing the pedal, fuel is still obviously flowing so that the car can start. So holding the pedal all the way down while cranking actually cuts the fuel flow.
Just thought I'd throw that in there for anyone that may not have known. Every bit of info helps. Without guys like this making videos, so many people would be at a loss with their car because not everyone had the big bucks to take it to the dealer or these shops looking to rip you off.

I think i may have a fuel pump / filter issue going on. This Lexus sc400 has been sitting for 4 years. I went to start it and it cranks and cranks but does not turn over. So i drained the old gas and put 5 gallons new gas. It started up. It idled perfect for 30 minutes just fine nice and smooth. Then while at operating temp while idling for 30 minutes the temp gauge rose slightly then the car died. What do you think is going on?

I have a friend who has a ford van. He couldn't get it running even at the shop. I pulled the fuel tank to check the fuel pump and connections all was good. i cleaned out the fuel tank but still no joy. Finally connected the fuel pump directly to the battery let the pump run until it stopped and it started right up. My friend was so surprised. Turns out the fuel pressure switch was not letting the fuel pump run until it had fuel pressure. Kind of a c

What if the fuel pump is running but the fuel pressure is only 10 PSI? I installed a flex fuel kit (eflexfuel) and everything was fine for several days with 44% ethanol and the fuel pressure was 40 PSI. When I got back from a trip I added more E85 that got the ethanol to 61% and several hours later I had problems getting the car to start and run and found that the fuel pressure dropped to 10 PSI. I replaced the fuel filter but that didn't help. I don't know if something happened to the 2 year old pump but it's not rated for E85. I was wondering if the FRPS has gone bad even though it's only 2 years old also. I guess it's cheaper to "shotgun" the problem by replacing the fuel pump with an E85 rated pump and/or FRPS rather than having a service shop diagnose the problem.

Took it to a shop because when I bought the car the rpms would hang at 2,000rpm when nuetral and would drop and the car would die. Hey so!! About 7 months ago. My dad has a Chevy Silverado (still does). His car was towed to the front of the neighborhood...we were able to get it back by charging the battery and jump starting it with starter fluid. It worked perfect!! Now we have to get it up and running and we haven’t touched it since, we added 5GAL of fuel, new battery since old one was fully dead, and even jump starter fluid wouldn’t work. If I remember right, there was fuel coming out the fuel rail if I pressed on the valve & I don’t recall hearing the fuel pump just like in your video. Would my next step be to replace the fuel pump??

My 1999 ford mustang v6 won't start at all and ive tried most of these, what will happen is me and my bud will try the starter fluid and it will start then die out after 1 second, we pressed the bicycle looking valve to check the pressure and sometimes gas will come out and sometimes air will, after we try and turn on the vehicle and turn it off we will smell bad gas, same with the valve smelly gas will come out when the gas does. Do you think it might be the pump? Or the fuel filter? The red button in the back is pressed down and everything looks plugged in it sat for maybe a year and a half and I have no idea whats going on.

Yeah, it’s most likely the pump. You can rent a fuel pressure test kit from parts stores and see what the actual pressure is. This just happened to my brother and it was only 5psi. The pump was bad. He replaced it and he’s good to go now czcams.com/video/UhgkGXLSkl0/video.html

I just recently put a freshly rebuilt 98 cobra 4v (forged pistons, rods & factory forged steel crank) in a 2001 cobra I bought that had a blown rod.
Just tried starting the car today and noticed I have a slight leak on the driver side fuel rail (aftermarket). I heard a slight popping noise coming from the engine as if the timing was off (not 100% sure but a reputable engine shop, that I always use built the engine and timing should be good).
In my menu years of experience, even if there was a fuel leak, everything should sound normal (no popping sounds), am I right?
There's not much difference in the 98 cobra and 2001 cobra engine and the ECU should pick up the slight changes.
I'm sure I'm prematurely asking this but any idea why this popping sounds may occur if the engine is "new" (rebuilt)?
The battery did die while I was doing the motor swap and I charged it for a night and even hooked up the charger while I was trying to start it. I will check for spark soon.

    • @dannyjohnsonsgarage
      @dannyjohnsonsgarage  Před 7 měsíci

Is the popping once when it starts or constant? The 01 is coil on plug and the 98 had coil packs and the intake manifold runner control (IMRC), so there were some differences. Any plugs that were not connected (like the IMRC)?

Today discovered a "Very strange" problem on my FORD MUSTANG 2003 GT. and the mechanic was able to solve.
The PATS immobilizer was activated 5 days after the fuel pump was changed and although it went through many workshops and other mechanics who came to check it never started.
Everyone thought it was the pump, CCRM, Pump Module, crankshaft sensor, cam sensor, key chip, key antenna and others sensors....
Finally came a FORD dealer mechanic with an original scanner and a web service from Ford dealer services. The strangest thing is that this scanner only gave an error code that said, the VIN of the speedometer dash was different from the VIN of the PCM.
He only discovered the problem when he remembered that a while before, he did a job on a VW car that had a similar problem and despite the fact that "it did not show any error when scanning it but still it did not start." Then he disconnected the ABS module and the VW started
Well, almost the same thing happened with my MUSTANG. "Something very strange."
When scanning it, the ABS module did not show an error; On the contrary, he said it was fine.
And the error it showed was that the VIN of the dash speedometer was different from the PCM.
He just disconnected the ABS module and was finally able to turn on the MUSTANG, after a long time and many mechanics came to check it.
THE MUSTANG NOW START VERY WELL, but the ABS light on the dash stays on until I will buy a new ABS module.
Apparently in the MUSTANG, when the ABS Module fails, it does not always show it in the scanner and activates the PATS immobilizer.
And the pump change work had nothing to do with the ABS module, only that the car stopped 5 days after the pump change. Everyone thought that the problem was there.
I hope this experience will help you solve your problems.
    Regards
