The son of god sent himself? so when Jesus say, the one who sent me, he was really referring to himself? the Bible is a mystery book. The biblical definition of Mysterion means secret or hidden or only given to the initiated and not given to ordinary mortals or not obvious to the understanding. When you discover the heart of the mystery is when salvation is really achieved. Your eyes will open.

Yeah, I actually have that mindset for a lot of movies that I watch. I very rarely turn off a movie before the end, even if it seems to be evil, because they might pull some twist at the end that changes everything.
(Spoilers ahead:) This actually started when I bought the 2009 Sherlock Holmes film on DVD when I was in college. Through most of the movie, I was utterly appalled because the main villain in the movie was a Satanist who rises from the dead, and the movie seemed to be trying to push that he was an invincible foe, including a scene where Sherlock Holmes appears to perform an occult ritual as part of his plans to stop the villain (which actually turned out to be a bait-and-switch). I almost shut off the film multiple times and was sad that I had "wasted money" on the movie. But then at the end Sherlock revealed that he had the upper hand all along because the Satanist guy was just a really clever fraud who had created complex illusions using technology that wasn't widely known to the world yet (because it was the 1800s). All of the clues were laid out throughout the entire movie, and I missed them because I was too focussed on what I was appalled by in the film, which is ironically exactly what the film was trying to teach against (most the characters in the film panic at the scenes of chaos, but Sherlock always studies each situation carefully, and it's revealed at the end that he knew pretty well what was actually going on because of his observation skills). It changed the entire film, and I instantly wanted to watch the entire thing again just to catch all the clues. I later looked up a lot of reviews of the film written by Christians, and it was clear that a lot of them didn't even watch the film all the way to the end. This started my motivation to watch almost every new film I start all the way to end. And it's unlikely that will change anytime soon.

It’s crazy to think how Christian Disney used to be. We watch Old Disney with our daughter and I’m always surprised. whether it’s Snow White praying at her bedside or Johnny Appleseed praising God and reading the Bible in Melody Time, they used to be absolutely blatant about it. If they did put an anti christian message in this movie, they picked the wrong movie to do this in. It's not selling well at all. I went to the theaters with my daughter, and every family that we talked to in the theater was coming to see Trolls 3. There wasn't an empty seat during our showing of Trolls. If Wish is trying to spread a message, the public doesn't want to hear it. I enjoyed the message of Trolls 3 about letting go of pride/anger and forgiving the ones you care about. So, I wanted to have a fuller look at the content of this movie so I listened to the novelization audiobook. I was concerned about the king not granting all wishes and that being portrayed as a bad thing. ***spoiler alert*** They do make the bad guy bad by the fact that not only does he take the wishes, but the people no longer remember them. However, what caught me off guard and my attention was that they were able to free the wishes because we are all made of star dust. This wouldn’t have caught my attention about a year or so ago, but one of the CZcamsrs I watch often says we’re “stardust bumping into stardust” when talking about the atheistic worldview. Lastly, the king’s wife helps them defeat the king and his ultimate demise, but her reaction afterwards doesn’t seem to offer much grief over the loss.

Nevertheless, I still prayed to be closer to God, for my heart to align with His will. I learned more and more about True intimacy with my Father, and that no matter what happens, He is there. Eventually, one person did wake up. He came back. Three years later, we're engaged. We're becoming One in Christ, and it's an amazing thing to be a part of. If God had given me everything I wanted, then I wouldn't have the gifts He gave me now, above all that I could ask or think. I was cheering for the king in the trailer. How dim would someone have to be not to understand that anyone giving out wishes would have to decide which to grant? I think a movie like this can seem innocent, but it's just one of the bricks society is trying to use to influence our children to build a different world view. If your kid watches 700 hours of TV a year, and 10% of that has a message that differs from our Christian view, that means about 70 hours a year goes to influencing your kid. That's probably more time than they spend in church.
And that's just TV. Add music, games, books etc. Even if 1% is tearing down your child's faith, it's still too much.

I agree. Though if you care about your kids (and yourself and spouse) getting Christian influence, they should be spending more than 70 hours a year in church. That's only 80 minutes a week. Which is basically just showing up for Sunday morning service, talking to people for a bit afterwards, and then leaving without any concern for the remainder of the week. They're going to fill their time with something, even if it's their own imaginations, so you must go beyond just preventing overtly bad influences and give them a Christian environment.

Funny how Lucifer is a fallen angel, who used to be called a star. And how Luciferianism portrays him as the redeemer of humankind, as a Prometheus that stole fire from the gods and gave it to humanity. In the Lucifer series, the protagonist gives people their deepest desires. One knows that you can do a deal with the devil for money and fame. Also worth noting: the use of the pentagram is prevalent throughout the movie - the pentagram is symbolic of Venus, which in turn is also called Lucifer (the morning star).

Three questions we should all be willing to ask: 1- what do you believe (whaddoyoumeme😊)? 2-why do you believe that (what are your reasons)? 3-where do we agree? Too many of us skip the third question because it seems weak. The answer to the question actually shows our wisdom. Jesus told us to be wise as serpents but innocent as doves. By finding where we agree, we can start there and help lead lost people to the eternal truth of God’s living word.

Eternals, Captain Marvel, GOTG3, Loki, even Spider-Man: NWH (which has been covered on this channel before)… just off the top of my head.
It might not be as overtly as in this movie, Wish, but it’s still there a bit more subtly… in a more “you don’t need God” or “there is more than One way to God” or “You can be your own God” kind of way.

But I haven’t fully formed my thoughts on it yet. The others you mentioned, I haven’t watched enough. Guardians of the Galaxy 3 did have that wonderful reenactment scene of The Creation of Adam painting when Adam Warlock saves Peter. There are a couple of pro-Christian messages in the earlier Marvel films that I distinctly remember. My main point is that I think some people confuse religion and politics so if a movie is diverse or feminist or has clear left leaning agendas in it, they automatically write it off as anti-Christian which is a big problem to me because having a diverse show or a show with mostly women doesn’t make something anti-Christian. See too often people write off woke media as anti-Christian with zero evidence behind that.

@@signalfire15 No I totally get you and I agree about the conflation of religion and politics. I do think it’s probably about as important an issue, but it’s definitely not what I’m talking about here.
On Disney Marvel though, I think we have to think about whether something is truly pro or anti Christian… just because something might hold to a Christian ethic or mirror Christianity in some way… is it really pro-Christian if it doesn’t give the credit to Christ?
We have to remember for example, that Loki in reality, in this world, was worshipped by real human beings as a deity before Yahweh… Not only that but he was markedly one of the darker gods of that mythology… Depending on how you see false gods according to the Bible chances are he might even have been an actual fallen angel in rebellion to Yahweh… So as epic and cool as that final episode might have been, placing a character like Loki in a place of such “glorious purpose” with a crown and throne, literally becoming the centre of the universe, literally holding the strands of time in his hands, after sacrificing himself for his friends just kind of rubbed me the wrong way since I know there is only One who who made thee sacrifice and deserves all the glory and all the honour for it.
I know some people might see this and say I’m overthinking it… but as someone who has been a lifelong superhero comics fan, I’ve been really convicted by God about these movies for a while now and honestly I have kind of been resistant to it… but it’s gotten to a point I can’t deny it any longer and will most likely have to quit watching these movies… of course conviction is different for every individual, and we must react accordingly as individuals, so I’m not here telling anyone to do the same… but rather to examine everything from a Holy Spirit perspective if we truly are Christians.
People now idolise the MCU and the characters in it even more so than when they were just comic book characters, and most will not even give a second thought to Christianity.

I’m gettin’ real tired of Disney’s whole “anti-authority” agenda. They’ve been on it for decades. An argument could be made that they have been since Snow White (although I think that’s a bit of an exception since the authorities of that movie were trying to murder her).
But at the very least we’ve got the Little Mermaid, Moana, Brave, and now this, just to name a few. Like… authority isn’t all bad. Disney needs to stop this crap.

@@starcatcherksp1517 unfortunately. The Bible says to respect authority. There's part in Acts where Paul is on trial and basically says "I have a clean conscience before God." The high priest orders for him to be struck on the mouth, Paul snaps at him, but takes it back when he finds out he's the high priest.

I've not been watching Disney for a couple of years I think, with no plans to return, but this is gold. I won't even need to watch this to know how to dialogue when this comes up.
