  • Yes you can! I have been running OS Flex fine in 3GB, so figured why not try 2GB? I didn't think it would work, but that's why you try! It works and is not noticeable different than 3GB for browsing.
People want to know how I did this. YMMV, but I first installed on a 64-bit laptop with 3GB RAM (works great!) and then simply pulled out 1GB RAM.

I run Chrome OS Flex on a HP Stream with 2GB of RAM and it's perfectly fine for basic web browsing and online Office applications as long as you don't run more than 2-3 open tabs. I can have my work Outlook and Teams going at once with another basic website but more than that and it maxes out and starts getting jittery or Office applications become unresponsive.

My 2015 Lenovo IdeaPad 100-15IBY barely runs simple browsing tasks on windows. On chrome os flex it's blazing fast.

I have an IdeaPad 100-14IBY, but the opposite happens. Its fast on windows, but its so slow on ChromeOS Flex. What could be the problem?

I installed on 64-bit machine with 3GB then pulled one gig out. Machine also has a 120GB SSD. You need 16GB storage. There are graphic system limits, too. My article has a link to the hardware requirements: medium.com/geekculture/chrome-os-flex-in-only-3gb-ram-7b110c00ad8

I have 2 gb ram and an AMD cpu ( 10 years old) but after selecting pendrive from boot menu chrome logo appears and then black screen appears and it is stuck on black screen.

I made the USB boot drive on a modern machine and installed on a 3GB old laptop. Then removed 1GB.

this is not a hardware issue , many users faced the same problem black screen after boot dont know what the issue is maybe i guess it only supports x86 pc's ,so what i did was instead of installing google os flex i installed google chrome os!
