Your radar detector shouldn’t be facing the sky, you’re loosing valuable range that way. It should be positioned straight and level with the horizon for maximum detection range and reliability.
Also, Ka band is only used by law enforcement and maybe some mobile speed signs. Ka band is NOT used in malls, auto door openers or BSM systems.
Also your test should include both a pass with a known reliable detector in addition to this cheap unit to verify results.
KA goes off near supermarket with no cops in sight... day or night as long as the store is open and doors are turned on. I could do a double drive by but there still is variables. Like if the police car is in motion or if the police officer is using it intermediately to reduce possible detection. I do agree the best position is level for radar but this units sticky pad really is not effective.
TUXX REVIEWS to summarize my very informed decision, the cheap radar unit you’re testing is straight up crap. It’s not an isolated unit or problem etc it’s just complete garbage.
Most if not all of the Ka readings were false.
You should also know that radar detectors are not police detectors! Every if not most police cars are NOT running radar.
Please get back to us with more thorough testing when you have the chance / time using a good known good quality radar detector against this cheap garbage detector.

@@Ben7seven7 Stores DO use KA in some automatic doors... Get your facts correct and despite how effective the radar is at police that turn there radar guns on and off repeatly to avoid cars radar picking up the signal until close range a radar detector is in many ways a Police detector. While not 100% effective as not all police have radar on 100% of the time if it can raise awareness of some police it CAN save you a ticket just by making you think more about your speeding and perhaps slowing down to be within the limits by law. Before you troll stupid lines like "using a good radar" note I have videos on the passport radar that I use every day and is around $300. It works fantastic.

You did a nice job on the video dont get me wrong. You sound intelligent as well and have a nice car. To do a comparison correctly you need something to compare it to. How do we know the Passport is any better or worse then the $30 one without showing it as well? You kept saying I don't know, maybe this or that. To do it right have a friend follow you with the Passport radar detector on in their car videoing it as well at the same time. Then compare the videos at the end to see if they both were pick the same interference. I get you defending your video but your last question was let me know what you think. Dont ask if you only wanted positive comments back praising you. You did a great job and love your car and I enjoyed watching it but it didn't answer the question making blank statements. Could have should have or might have. Why question is what is the menu button for? Thanks
I use escort as my main radar - check out my other videos for more pricey radar but this little $30 unit may just save you a $200+ ticket. Well worth it.
Hold the button down to change languages. Use city mode to get rid of false stuff in town. I tell ya bud I got loads of cheap radar detectors and these do work...no laser capabilities...but deffo picks up stuff. Try driving towards a speed camera with the led readout and you will see it trigger about 300ft before the hazard. I coated the inside with tin foil to make it more reflective to trigger. It seems to work better, but I don't care...I got plenty of different radar detectors and I didn't pay more than $10 for any of them. I have an old uniden rd20 and rd25, they sound like a heart monitor...but they work too. But for me i like to use my whistler radar detector. Also I love my cobra clamshell superwide...there's just something reassuring about the pretty lights. Anyhoo I need another beer !!!.
You put tin foil in the inside to increase range? Thats an interesting idea! I do like uniden radar detectors. Some of them have a cool metal or metal plastic mix case.
@@TUXXREVIEWS ...it seemed the more reflective I made the inside the better it worked...as for range...not sure...but it certainly made it better. And I love my old unidens...they are simple and basic and are super retro. For me a radar detector is like "fishing", I like to drive around see what fish I can catch !!!.

I seen a lot of video the same radar. Here the thing I don’t see anyone using the other android plug maybe it suppose to attach to a dash cam, dash gps.. maybe attach it to the computer to update the software.

Alex Boey Go with a Uniden R3 if you want one of the best defectors out there. Go with the Uniden R7 which is that but with radar locating arrows. Go with the R1 if you don’t care about having the added GPS features and want to save some cash.
I just bought one and it doesn't say anything but city mode. It was a waste of $25. I passed a cop and it didn't say anything. Luckily I wasn't speeding. I passed known police stops and it didn't pick up not one police car. After watching your videos I decided to return it and get my money back
Its way less than other options. Would I really suggest buying a more expensive unit (like czcams.com/video/hWvbQEp5SlI/video.html ) this one is better than nothing for me. It did seem to pick up KA band really well for me. Possible you had a defective one?
Wow Ivan your working super hard to troll this video. AGAIN... I would suggest a more expensive unit if you have the means but if you want something inexpensive to start with this a low price option. Have you looked inside to personally inspect the diods... NO ... DID you personally read the computer code its programmed with ... NO you didn't... Stop trolling... only detects when the cops radar is one to detect car speef if u get pulled over and the radar didn't do anything that means the cop radar is off and u can go to judge and say that u were driving the speed limit and they can see that there is no cop radar that has a picture of ur car driving tgat fast
Cops have used the "only one of a secound" trick for a very long time but even if it detects its for only a beep and then nothing it should warn you that you need to be alert. If it raise your awreness and you avoid a ticket its better than nothing. It costs like $35 and a speeding ticket is like $250 so if you even avoid one ticket your better off. If you’re not speeding sometimes it doesn’t go off.
It doesnt detect the motion of the car your in, it detects radar signals (like the ones Police use in radar guns)

I'm in UK and i keep getting a warning from the device saying location freeze K band (city mode) then it just continually rapid beeps when it does. This happens if I'm moving or stationary away from everything. If anyone knows why and how to fix it (before it ends up in the bin) as the only way to stop it i found is to power the damn thing off/on. . but after 2mins same thing happens. Its driving me nuts
Is it possible the cars Bluetooth is affecting it in some way?

Picks up K Band (traffic lights) does not work on Laser. Take it apart and see there is no laser detector and the laser focus plastic lenses are fake.
@@AdamAfA in the UK it is only laser used for speed detection. Gatsos use K band but they are visible anyway.

if this Detector doesn't have the capabilities to detect radars, how is it interfering with "Passport"?
Some say two radar detectors (of any brand) cancel each other out. This is a pretty basic detector but for the money raises awareness and could save you from a ticket.

When I try to use this it keeps on giving many false alerts. I never see a cop. It even goes off in a fielded or wooded areas with no other cars, homes, businesses or any electronic signals around. I have no faith in this!

No, thats not normal on the island. We do have some of these speed alert two wheel thingies ... that would set it off KA band.
umm they work fine not all car police cars have speed detectors on. the radars pick up on microwaves.
A radar detector will definitely pick up the signal. In police radar, a radar gun sends out short bursts of microwaves. The microwaves reflect back from oncoming vehicles and are detected by a receiver in the radar gun. If nothing else the police could lie and say you were going 55 in a 45 zone without ever using a gun. Of course you would win in court if the cop was not truthful and the redar didnt reflect the time and speed said. Nothing is 100% but radar is WAY better then no radar!.

I would really suggest getting a escourt passport but for the price it can alert you to KA and some other radar. Heck it may just raise awareness of speeding. One ticket is about $220+ here.

I think its obvious if you speed all the time or have a flashy car then buy a high end unit but if you drive a 4x4 truck and speed occasionally then this is better than nothing and basically costs nothing too. The idiot who drives a yellow viper daily at 100mph is foolish for buying it
This dector (although cheap and not as effective as expensive units) can be better than nothing. A speeding ticket can be $200-$300+ dollars so anything is better than nothing BUT you do get what you pay for.

Lot of these detectors set themselves off and if you take one apart, there's no laser at all. People are just wasting their money.
All these radar you have been shown on tube are expired last year radar only going to pick anything last year not this year there for they should not be so expensive or too cheap but they new ok. Personelly I like the expensive stuff but this day they may look but still not good enough
