I used to work for two Volvo dealerships, and these cars are by far the best, and are worth the price. People need to be more aware of how this company has grown!
Would you recommend the four 4 air suspension? Is it reliable?
@@andystadi yes
I own a 2010 S40 and I love it so much! I never feel uncomfortable in this car. It is reliable and safe and has excellent handling characteristics. It also has 5 cylinders! XD
That Volvo looked awesome with its nose up in the air. This crossover has to be one of the most handsome made today.
I really do love Volvos. They have an excellent reputation for safety, they set the standard for luxury, and they look so nice.
just bought a xc60 t5 without the premium package (no driver assistance) and i love the car to death. Favorite part is probably the luxury interior, headlights and how nice is it to drive on the highway. I had a 2012 s60 t5 and i was getting tired of it. Test drove the xc60 and im in love. Volvo is really heading in the right direction and is beating all the german companies in my opinion.
Hi! Glad to hear that but I have a question, does it have reliability issues with that engine?
I'm a Volvo fanboy and I'm an Outdoors fanboy as well but my heart was aching when I saw this lovely crossover go through the rough trails up there. Just the white interior makes one want to put the white gloves museum staff use to transfer valuable art pieces :) But glad to see Volvo's AWD doing pretty well with these tires. Great test!
Great video! I been working with the development of previous generations of these systems at Volvo Cars R&D division in Gothenburg. You need to use throttle to make this system work at is best! It is a Haldex coupling system that needs to build up pressure to engage properly. This is done by speed from the drive shaft. The more throttle you use the quicker this will happen and high torque will be distributed to the rear. So it is not actually struggling when hesitating, it is only building up pressure to engage the coupling. Today the fifth generation of Haldex system is used and they have become much faster and gives better torque output for each generation. Step on it and the Haldex will solve the rest for you! Again, great video!
Wow ! That XC-60 is just the best. Really like your new, young, apprentice Tommy, a good addition to the team.
This is beautifully made. You guys are awesome. I have been watching a lot of your videos, here the cohesion is seamless. 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
I spent way too much on my 2016 XC90 to take it off road. But I will say that the Haldex 5 system is the best all-wheel drive I have ever driven or owned. I just returned from Michigan and had absolutely no issues on snow and ice. Great car - very sure footed.
The best editing I've seen from you guys so far. Great job guys, keep it going!
You floored it like a boss over that last stage
Tommy is getting much much better at this.
i just got a 2023 B5 ultimate i doubt ill ever leave the pavement but its good to know that it can
I just bought mine, 2018 XC60, im inlove with it, better purchase ever
What have u owned before?
D Riv my family had the xc90 t5 best car ever
I got my xc90 2022,and I love it. The interior and smoothness on the road are awesome. The power of 455 hp is insane, very fast when you want to pass somebody. Great car for family too.
Volvo is very quickly becoming the best - I saw a new (not last year's short wheelbase) black S90, and man did I get whiplash.
Shane Giumarello I have a 1998 Volvo XC70, Volvo has always been the best.
Even better when Polestar get hold of them!
BenMJay I have also noticed some people are still driving their older Volvos. Reliability seems to be good with these cars.
my loan hang up at this point too...I do plan to go test drive (the car and the infotainment) in the next month.
Oh no we failed to make a safe car if people get whiplash looking at it, we must make it uglier
Interesting video. And it looks like working with his kid is helping Roman grow up,behave and actually do a better review while still seeming to have fun.
This truly is an amazing SUV my family has one and they love it. At 100 mph it rides smooth and quiet like a high end luxury automobile. Also it won World SUV of the year award.
Very impressive! Volvo just went up a couple points
Excellent test guys, Tommy in my opinion, you’ve arrived, a while ago, I felt that maybe because of your youth, I detected a struggle with being a host / cohost on TFL, not anymore you fit in this venue like a glove. Keep up the great work.
You guys and gal.... Are by far my favorite car and truck reviewers...
Not bad at all. Im definitely paying more attention to Volvo these days.
It looks like you have a new editor (or new editor skills). Good job!
Loved the highlight clips at the end
That was unexpectedly impressive!!
I was just thinking about this vehicle last night! Maybe it's a sign lol thanks TFL!
I haven't seen a XC60 yet in person however, I gotta say this does look rather attractive!
This was actually very impressive.
Great test guys, congrats.
I really love these new Volvo's. The styling, power, and capability are all awesome.
Awesome review, my 2016 Civic EX-T does all that and break hold
Finally you actually left the throttle on instead of giving up as soon as it slips.
Ur a lucky guy TOMMY ! I wish my dad was into cars as much as ur father is .
This video was awesome! If I can make a suggestion, can you guys give the Jeep Grand Cherokee another video going up Gold Mine Hill? I think it definitely deserves a chance!
One of the best real off road test... wish there was also a muddy road included.
Great review!
If Tommy was being a new Wrangler right now would he buy the current model or wait for the new model and take a bit of a chance there won't be any first year model problems?
You guys never disappoint!
My wife owns a 2015 XC60 T6 and while it’s quick, the off-road capability isn’t all that great. The awd system in the one you just tested, however, seems pretty solid. I might have to make it her next car.
One of the best CZcams channels hands down by the way! Thanks for the years of inspiration.
Tom Lawrowski it’s the same AWD system.
4wd some different software
You should look at some other channels they are not that awesome man
Vincent Affatati I think they are. I’ve got my own channel I’m trying to kick off and it’s really difficult to be natural. These guys are.
Tom Lawrowski yeah I can’t disagree it has been well refined
Very impressed with its AWD system and torque.
Finally a good one from you guys
I really thought it wasn't gonna make it. Volvo's engineers really did a good job with this.
Thanks men good review.
I saw the rollover crash test and it was very safe
Nice video. What is the ground clearance with the air bags in the full up position. Like you said better tires would have helped. I doubt that hardly any owner of those Volvos would even take their cars on flat dirt roads.
Both hands on the steering wheel and some slightly rougher treads... I'm realy impressed the XC60 could manage the step 3.
I have the Volvo XC60 T6 AWD, would I be able to make it through this course? Just curious. Want to take it off road.
It actually made it up stage 3. Not bad for a cushy street vehicle!
It doesn't really matter how much throttle since the computers figure out how to manage traction.
There was a time when the ‘top spec’ bought you all the goodies, but today you just get some trinkets and different wheels. All of the good tech are option packs.
Buy the base model and use the $7K saved to add some of the tech you want.
nice...but is it any more videos of big green back on Gold Mine Hill???
This was impressive and I do actually know for those that are interested you can option a front metal skid plate
Hello would love to know more about this! Did you do do this or can point me in the right direction?
I like how it's strategically placed over a loaf of bread sized rock! Try any Colorado 4 wheel drive pass. You'll be leaving the Oil pan there.
I wish my 00' v70 xc had the haldex awd system. Viscous coupling/ open diff is perfectly fine for driving normally and can take you anywhere you need to go but when I actually go rallying on dirt or in deep snow it's less than desirable lol. It's fun to fish tail and drift down the forest roads but it's way too easy to lose control when you are going fast and pushing the car.
So could I assume that occasional beach (sand) riding with lower air pressure shouldn't be an issue?
u people rock great job
Do you get the Mercedes E class off road estate in the US? If so a test of one of them would be good
good job with the 60fps
I just saw a prototype Infiniti qx50 by the trails recreation center in Aurora.. might be interesting to go prototype hunting for them cause I know theyre here I just saw one
It's a good thing Tommy is there (the voice of reason).
Please take an 18 Subaru Crosstrek up Gold Mine Hill.
I would want to see my car do Goldmine hill but sadly you don’t have the Fiat Panda Cross in the US. That’s a really small car with relatively good off-road potential... 😊
1:25 I just bought a V70 XC so I would really like to see the video of it going up gold mine hill! Unfortunately I can't find it.
this ones is an odd ask, but will you do the volvo cross country, the new one? I'm curious to know how bid a difference it will be over the XC90.
We are really enjoying our 2019 XC60 T6....great lines, class topping interior comfort, and good punch. Anyone considering a midsize SUV ought to check it out versus any domestic or Asian beast.
Do you have the momentum or the other 2 spec? I'm looking at an 18' R type.
@BloodySoup74 We had the Momentum. Carvanna made us an "offer we couldn't refuse", so we sold it.
@@rbmedd Ok thank you!
I'm ready for automated cars, I believe the technology is there, it just needs more refinement and experience. I love to drive and have been a 'save the manual' driver, but I drive on average between 4 and 5 thousand miles a month. I'd love for a car to guide me on the boring bits and let me take the wheel on twisty bits of fun roads. I'd also love to know the people that text and drive, eat and drive, put laptop with movies on dashboard and drive(I see it alot, seriously?), are being driven safely for everyone's benefit. I have a new and reasonably fun and practical GTI now, I'm hoping it will hold out long enough for another jump in automation with legislative hurdles somewhat more defined.
If you wrapped some hand warmers on the steering wheel how long could you drive hands free?
kansas tennessee i tried a water bottle and you can go for hours. But remember it's a hands-on system. You are in control of the car.
Be interesting to see how much an improvement AT tires would benefit its off-road ability. Pretty impressive the way it performs without them though !! I'm still mulling over getting the V90 CC.
Very surprised it made it through stage 3. Great job Volvo.
Well, that kinda puts the 4WD truck tests on this trail in perspective.
Is there one for Ford Escape 4wd on gold mine hill?
Any plans to put a Q5 or SQ5 with air suspension up this hill?
Are you gonna take the XC40 up when its no snow?
Excellent car very capable and luxurious
All right then, I'm very impressed.
Great video. Can you guys do the 2018 Audi Q5 it have similar features even air suspension. I have a 2017 q7 and I'm in lil upset you guys didn't get to do the Q7 but I took mine off road and it did well.
+1 For a 2018 S/Q5 video (sorry repeat request later).
More videos of the V90 Cross Country!
Do cars come with off road tires ....apart from wrangler?
I like Volvo these days. Real luxury is when you get safety features standard. I like what Volvo does. Hopefully this might be my next car! Usually I prefer german cars but they can learn a thing or two from Volvo.
Is there a video of when you take the xc70 up the hill?
5 Generation Haldex is really good!!!!
How is the XC60 T5 off-road? Am looking for an off-road car
Quite impressive on those very non off road tyres.
I firkin love my VolVo.
So what was the sticker on this version? $63,290? It ain't cheap, but it's versatile.
Nice collaboration with idubbbz!
Guys please do an off review of the new 2018 gmc sierra z71
Please test a 2017 Ford Escape...Thank you.
5.3 0-60 in a hellcat? And who would not use alot of throttle to get up with those low profile tires?
I really like this volvo but at 3:44 it souds to me lake wasps fighting an old tractor. I know it can be pc or audio quality problem in the video but it sounds weird.
That was cool
What music is that?
such a nice car
hum.... when last test, Is 'BMW xdrive' more good?
Could the T5 engine make it up there
Volvo keep making great cars!
Volvo cars the peaceful of power. 🔟points goes to Sweden. I have driven PKW Volvo and Bus Volvo. I have felt in safety. Good job.
I dont get it. Almoust all modern 4x4 systems are advertised that it can in milisec figure out to wich wheel they need to send the torque. Yet i can count seconds that system requires to think and send power to correct wheel. Anybody can explain this? And i am not talking only abut Volvo. Almoust all 4x4 systems are advertised that way (Audi, Merc, Subaru etc) i described and yet seems to work slow (ofcourse i am not mentiond fixed 4x4 systems)
As much as I love volvo, and have been driving volvo for the past 15 years. I will not be buying the new models. We have 2 volvo's in the family a 2004 V70 T5 AWD (it is very rare) and a normal XC70 from 2005. Those cars are solid. You can really tell that they were made to last. Sure they lack all the electronics and gimmics compared to the new ones - but let me be clear - Cars are made for driving, they are not supposed to be a gadget and more importantly - Volvo are infamous for having their electronics go wrong after 5 or so years.
Me and my wife went in the new v90XC and neither one of us liked the interior. The leather quality felt somewhat cheap, the plastics were had, the seats them selves were not as comfortable as I have come to expect. Really, if you want to sit in a real volvo, go and find one pre 2005. If its been kept well and looked after then that thing has so many more miles to do. The new ones feel like a toy - like something you may use for 5 years and then chuck it in the bin. Whereas the old ones feel like they were made to last 20 years if you cared for them.
Anyhow, we decided against buying a new one, since our old ones are still running great even though the miles are stacking up now.
Wow! That’s an amazing car! Really good at off-roading too!! :D
I wonder how this would do with bigger off road tires
the awd seems pretty slow to react. spinning tires freely for suprisingly long time before deciding to shift torque. obviously not really intended for real offroading.
It still did better than most of the AWDs they've tested
