Just got a house here (well in Metairie) and so far I love it. Moved here from Cleveland. The food is amazing, all the fresh seafood, seeing the sun consistently.. it has its problems like every city but I love the culture and the tropical feel with all the different color lizards in my back yard all day 😂

The more you travel you start to realize that it’s not uncommon for locals in many places to complain about where they live and don’t appreciate the positives in that place. Life is all about perspective.

Lots of good stuff you can find on here about the culture. I lived on the West Bank and left due to crime (back in the 90’s). I now live closer to Lafayette and wouldn’t consider moving back. The entire state is full of culture and I prefer the Cajun culture (it’s actually my heritage. I have mostly Acadian ancestors). The only place I’d recommend staying away from (lack of culture and high crime) is Baton Rouge

I'm from Louisiana and really never paid attention to the heat and humidity. I live in Florida now and we have the heat, humidity and the hurricanes. The Louisiana people are so much friendlier than anywhere and the food is so much better than anywhere
I've ever lived. So I guess if you don't like New Orleans don't move to Florida because you will find all the bad things except maybe the schools. I would love to be back in New Orleans.

Years ago like in the 90's (I went here for my honeymoon), a couple could afford to go out to eat but not anymore unless you got money. You can't do any of the tourist attractions either unless you got quite a bit of money in your pocket.

Right, every tourist attraction is at minimum $30 a ticket, restaurants are $50 a per person MINIMUM, and everything must be reserved online in advance these days…I doubt locals get to enjoy the tourist attractions anymore, because I know I don’t unless I have a few hundred dollars free to really get around the city on a weekend….There is literally no good reason to live in New Orleans anymore, unless you’re ok with being poor for the rest of your life.
