Very pricey houses in New Orleans on tiny lots. Why are there so few driveways or garages for these houses? These are prices almost comparable to California where I live where the weather is much nicer and the hurricanes don't blow

In Metairie, the oldest New Orleans suburb, has an incredible Jefferson Parish Police Force. You maybe somewhat correct in saying bleed over crime is occasionally rare, mainly from police chases coming from New Orleans on the interstate. Our home grown issues are few, please check Jefferson Parish stats before making video. The north shore may not get some New Orleans bleed over due to the causeway bridge, they have their own home grown issues there which you know as well, check St. Tammany Parish stats. Please NO north shore snobbery. No area is immune. Our roadways are better kept versus New Orleans roadways. Who has not experienced traffic? Have family in all parts of the surrounding area to New Orleans and again had hair pulling traffic issues on north shore, south shore, east and west. Old Metairie is highly desirable with old and new money residents and the homes of such. It has and continues to be the gold standard of places to live in Metairie, stubbornly holding its real estate value when other areas can not. Home affordability is various. As you said restaurants and parks are numerous, Lakeside Mall is vibrant, professional businesses and corporations are abundant, landscaped environs, grocery stores like Zuppardos, Dorignacs, Breaux Mart, Rouses are old family businesses, chain restaurants are available, but most restaurants are old family establishments interspersed with trendy ones , family friendly Mardi Gras, Home Depot, Lowes, Whole Foods, Trader Joes, boat launches to Lake Pontchartrain, movie houses, theatres, every denomination of churches, building suppliers, auto dealerships, women and children clothing boutiques, men's fine apparel, coffee shops, bakeries, public, private and parochial schools, etc. I love that New Orleans is just minutes away to enjoy its rich culture of music, food, fun, festivals, old and new krewe Mardi Gras, museums, stately and historic architecture, scenic environs, destination weddings, and food (did I say food?). New Orleans exudes history. All areas are suffering with high home insurances, not just in coastal states, but across the nation, so that cannot absolve any region as being better. Again there is no place free of natural disasters in this country. So thankfully this is a free country and one can reside where his/her income permits to rear one's family.

There are way too many cops. Many are very untrustworthy. My drive to work took 7 minutes and I'd see 4 cops on the way. Also sidewalks were not designed/ constructed in 95% of the areas here, thus a Jillion buses stop at every single house where they need to pick up kids and it REALLY clogs up traffic. These same buses also stop in the middle of main roads instead of pulling off. These same bus drivers blow through stop signs all day long. I have the film footage.

Bless her for giving her perspective. Def would not tell people the cost of living is lower. I moved from Chicago and EVERYTHING here cost more except gas for the car and shockingly, the home utilities. I think a lot of people from here have never lived anywhere else and don't realize how overpriced everything is. I love the warm weather coming from a cold state. You can get everywhere in town with 15 mins, 20 mins tops. The electrician is unstable and outages are frequent with the slightest bit of rain. The constant threat of hurricanes every year is a major con worth not living there at all. Food is all seafood a major con if thats not your thing. A few chain restaurants will get you through and there is a couple of really good mexican places. Politics and laws are horrible. If you're a woman, a child, or a minority....the laws do not support you having free will. Basically if you're a white man, perfect place for you but not anyone else! Second most major con if not tied with first.

Why does a video entitled " Slidell pros and cons " start with picture of New Orleans?. Slidell weather is about what one would expect on the south edge of the US. We are closer to the equator than most of the USA and anyway all dwellings and businesses are well provided with air conditioning. Why not a mention of the Slidell Little theatre and the Theater on Robert road? . We have good public Libraries and Schools. Yes we do have many homes on the water. That is a plus for fishermen and boaters to be sure. We have good electric and water supply and you are right to praise our plentiful shopping places and restaurants. We have at least three good parks. I like Heritage park with it good walkways, there, John Slidell park and Fritchie park and the Tennis courts on Third street ( maybe the are some more).. Then we have state parks in Louisiana and Mississippi not too far away. What more do we need?. I think our crime rate is low because we have a good police department. That is important. In the past I have also enjoyed the adult education places- a welding class, English history and a lanquage class. Look around a bit there is more you could list. The roads are good with enough traffic lights ( maybe too many - probably not)

Girl, you gotta do some research before you do these videos. It’s basic to call the galleries and verify the pronunciation of their names and would have only been an expense of a few minutes. I feel like it was disrespectful to go with a, “I’ll just mispronounce these names, it’s fine,” mentality. These people pour their lives into art. Do better.

The great Pittsburgh Steelers cornerback, Mel Blount had a home in Eden Isles back in the 70's. His little nephew was 4 yrs. old when he jumped into one of the canals and drowned. RIP little guy. I can't believe Slidell will ever attain the gracious living, and sultry charm it had in the 90's, with a beautiful and luxurious mall which provided a great leisurely shopping experience. Contractors, politicians, and city planners tried to replace it with Town Center, but that's little more than an overgrown strip mall. The only store worth visiting there is Dillard's. I have lived and worked in Slidell since the late 70's. Was once a great place, the only place worth visiting for great food here is Kenney's. Everywhere else is overpriced and you will likely leave there hungry. The truth is that Slidell was once a great bedroom community for New Orleans commuters who had great upper middle class jobs in the city. Unfortunately Katrina hit the whole area like a ton of bricks, jobs at the port, in ship building businesses, in the oil industry, and in aerospace at the Michoud vehicle assembly facility are pretty much non-existent now and the entire MS River basin is struggling to get back on its feet.

I lived in Slidell from 1979 till 1995. Moved to Picayune, Ms in 1995, but I'm still working in Slidell and drive back and forth every day. It's nothing like it was in the 70's and 80's. Slidell probably enjoyed its golden age during the 80's and 90's. Since the closure of the mall there is virtually no upper middle class shopping left. The town center is new, but the only really decent store there is Dillard's. The rest of the Town Center is little more than a glorified strip mall. Town Center is a far cry from what most people would call a leisurely or enjoyable shopping experience. She's right about Kenny's. It's probably the last place remaining where you can get a taste of what Slidell used to be like. Other than that if you are a cyclist the Tammany Trace is worth visiting. If you like Walmart there are two of them. Progress? Digress? I've said enough.
