    Just came for that note...you know the NOTE...the one that made Darlene Love forget she was singing background on TV and made her think she was in the church choir. Aretha raised the octave and the hairs on everybody's arms. THE QUEEN

      ​@@saintjay8058it is impossible to belt without mixing with no strain. Aretha mixed too, she sang with a balanced mix which is why she never sounded shouty or light, her belts were perfectly balanced.

    The beautiful Darlene Love got the spirit. Jesus take me now because I've been to the mountain top of soul 🙏🎶🎼💙. I saw Aretha with the GREAT Temptations. That's the day the music died for me. The Great 👑 of soul sang 2 songs & we looked @ each other my best friend Frank his sister LOVELY CARMEN & my cousin Cindy. Were were 16 & 17. We had never heard of Aretha & We were the only white people there but when we left. WE HAD SO MUCH SOUL WE COULD NOT CONTROL. WITH ALL DUE RESPECT. Arnold Bourbon Amaral. P.S.     I saw Darlene Love in an interview (years ago now) and she talked about this performance and how all of the musicians and other singers enjoyed and praised the young Aretha for her vocal skills and talent.

      My cousin was there when they recorded this on that day , but at this time we really didn't know too much about her because she hadn't really blown up yet, she was still in a small league at this time this was what was going to open the doors up for her to becoming the legend that she became, my cousin said that she sounded amazing during the recording live. I can only go by what I hear on this clip, but live... can you imagine?

    *Thank goodness **_Betty Everett_** made this Song a #1 Hit in 1964.* It didnt' chart the year before with Merry Clayton. *It's been Recorded by dozens of artists and groups around the world since.* I love hearing it.     To those IDIOTS, who deal with a video's aidio, and replace it with a 'clean' digital track, and post it - pushing its 'HQ' sound, THIS is FAR better.
    Yes, it might be mono, yes, it's not pristine, BUT; Jess REAL, and the energy you get, from the audience, and the awesome work provided by the Blossoms (who are NOT the backup singers I the record), is SO much better than listening to 'prefect' digital audio from a recordibg, which you've racked on.
    I know I'm not alone in both loving Ms Franklin's great performance (and that of the Blossoms, 'natch).
    THIS it's AWESOME

      The title on the original record - which I had a copy of - was “The Shoop Shoop Song”.
