The AFM collapsed lifter problem runs you about $5000-6500 and in most cases GM will recommend an engine swap. Amazing that this has not been a recall since this problem has been going on for over 5 years now with all GM's V-8's across the board with Active Fuel Management.

I own a 2015 CTS and GM has gotten away with so so many engineering flaws. From the rear differential to the infotainment system that have problems at 40k miles and just after the warranty is up. I think that bailout money made them even greedier. Considering making a CZcams video. I’m buying Japanese or Korean next time, all about engineering.

  • @canucha1985

1A Auto, you missed some of the more important issues with the Escalade.
-Rear backup camera is horrible especially at night time.
-The CUE entertainment screen freezes or turns off.
-front Magnaride shocks go out between 45-60k miles and the rear ones around 70k miles.
-Transmission shudder, there's a tech bulletin for it since they never issued a recall.
-Rear AC system doesn't vent properly out the vents due to collapsed/detached pillar fittings.
-Rear windshield wiper spray, the clip that connects the hose to the motor dries out, cracks and therefore hose disconnects and when actuated, the washer fluid leaks all over the inside headliner.
These are just some of my own experience and a lot of other owners have the same issues.

@@davidfreeman6509 Having the same problem with the CUE system; cadillac escalade 2016, black display; stealership just keeps talking trash about changing the display with a chinese one from aliexpress, because warranty is expired, and wants to charge $1500.00, i said no thanks and took my escalade to my home ( stealership is 20 min from my home so, no problem at all); i want to go the route of the HMI module, but there's a little problem; unit is out of stock until june or july, so, now i'm stuck with a $100,000 paperweight parked in my garage with barely 8,000 miles on it.
On the other hand the 2015 toyota yaris (or echo) my brother purchased in 2020 with 40,000 miles on it, just keeps going and going and going, same with the 1998 vw golf with almost 200,000 miles on it, even the a/c in that car still works, .............not to mention the 1994 Ramcharger we still own with 128,000 miles on it, just starts and drives like butter on the road, no problems at all.

The adaptive cruise control sensor needs to be replaced again. I’m not happy with the shoddy sensors in these vehicles. General Motors needs to do better. 1: The GPS isn’t working and doesn’t locate the location. Apparently the antenna isn’t working and will cost $1000s of dollars.
2: wireless charging is t working.
3: when shifting from 4WD to Auto isn’t shifting.
4: mic stopped working. People hear don’t you on the other end but you can hear them. Way to fix this issue is to disconnect the battery and connect again and this issue was resolved.

Most of these issues are uncommon from 2018-2020, different transmission and torque converter, throwing out that shudder/shake problem,15-17 8speed 18-20 10speed tranny, wireless charging is usually trash however 15-17 is only compatible with some androids/samsungs no apple iphones, the lifter collapse issue is any vehicle with cylinder deactivation or dod/afm.

Hey 1A-Auto for the cellphone wireless charging all you have to do is add a second coil and it should charge any cellphone (as long as the cellphone has the capability to be charged wireless). The Cadillac dealer wanted $300 for this but I was able to do it myself for $60 + taxes....... I don't have the information what I purchased as this happened over 2 years ago :-( sorry but internet is very good for these type of searches.

My long range radar is out, and it looks like the module is bad. As far as I can tell 2016 you can not use 'regular' cruise control, only adaptive. Later models you could do either. Does anyone know if you can get a 2016 to work in cruise, without adaptive?

Man you need to do a follow up video and add the Heater Coil that's been a problem with all generations of Escalade and GM Trucks. The are the ultimate pain to replace because of the Dash removal process. Cost 1000s.
The ABS module and or the pump also.
These should be number 2 and 3 in all GM trucks from 2000 to 20. Never been addressed.

Scott, did you ever solve this. Mine was doing the same thing and I discovered it was my interior intrusion alarm. I didn't even know I had. The first time was when I left the sunroof open and it rained. The rain set it off. The second time I left the roof open on a very windy night and it went off. It did go off a couple other times with everything closed, so I think it is just very sensitive. Or you have mice in your car. But I turned it off and it never happened again.

Joe, you might be on to something. I've had my 05 escalade for 11 years with minor repairs. The only issue I have now is with the traction control sensor which can easily be bypassed by pressing the deactivate button. The rear air suspension compressor was another issue but easily fixed. Overall it has been a great vehicle for me.

As a former GM contractor, who has put time in multiple GM plants in Michigan, I will NEVER buy ANY GM product…. EVER ! Can you say , “ A social engineering company that builds junk vehicles “
GM engineering standards and disregard for Quality Control is shocking ! You can run parts for a GM vehicle down lines intended for Asian manufacturers. However, you can never run Asian parts down ant line intended for GM standards. The acceptable tolerances for GM are scrap in Asian standards ! FACT !!
