Love my '05 MDX. Just passed 200K!
Just a heads up, the transmissions in the Honda Pilot and Acura MDX are pretty bad. Pretty sure they hired Chrysler engineers for that.
I need help!!
I have a 2002 BMW 330i; I'm currently having engine problems. The #2,3,4 cylinders are lacking psi.
I was told I need another engine; is that the case? And if so what engines are compatible with a 2002 BMW 330i?
@@bdp-racing apparently Pilot has low friction piston ring carbon problems too. Not sure what's a good car any more.

I have a 1995 Toyota 4 Runner Grey with Sunroof, and I love it! Runs like a kitten with over 230,000 miles. People always leave me notes with offers and their phone numbers. I inherited it from my father, who passed away. It's a keeper!

@@derlissamaniego1914 You'd be happy to get 120k out of a Chrysler 300.
I can attest to the Acura MDX! My business partner bought one new. Put 495,000 miles in it. The only problem it ever had was around 400,000 a CD got stuck in the CD player and could be removed.
That’s it!
Damn, what generation was it?
You mean to tell me, no radiator hose ever broke? The water pump and thermostat didnt cause problems, he never had kind of fluid leaks? Those things are magical

Just picked up our 2023 4runner. 4wd. Is it outdated?, nope not at all. Love it. Hydraulic power steering, frame, not unibody, and a proven 5 speed automatic, no cvt, no frills. Just a proven beast, and from Japan. Picked it up with 3 miles on it. Couldn't find a used one with low mileage any cheaper
Wow! I currently have a 19 Jeep Grand Cherokee and I’m doing everything in my power to trade it in to get a 4Runner. Love how beasty they look and super reliable.
We have a 2004 Sequoia that's got 250k+. We've been having it since new. Haven't had to replace nothing but batteries and tires. It's our daily driver. We absolutely love "Our Betsy".
Makes me glad I purchased my 01 4runnner this August. 294k miles and running great
Yep, can't go wrong with those. My last one went 360 thousand then I totalled it in a wreck. I've got a Lexus GX470 with 150 thousand and runs and looks new. My wife's Land Cruiser could realistically go 500 thousand no problem. In my opinion Toyota and Honda are the only way to go.
01 4Runner with 200,000. In love with my truck
Sorry but purchasing a 294k mile vehicle is crazy. No engineering can defeat basic wear, time, or environmental factors.
At 294k it’s not even just about the engine and transmission anymore, everything from the drive shaft to the frame will likely have significant wear.
Great video, Scotty. Have owned a 2003 Honda Pilot that we bought new in late 2002. Only has 110k miles, so low mileage. Is now on it's 3rd teenage boy driving it so it has not been babied. Only thing now is after 20 years, needing to replace a number of rubber parts...not really due to mileage, more due to time. Gives my boys and I something to do on the occasional weekend. Has been an extremely reliable vehicle for 20 years now.
Excellent advice on the timing belit and interference engines. I had two Subarus (80's 90's) and since I was young and poor both broke down while driving when the belt broke. Simple tow and fixed. No damage.
Bought an MDX in 2014 and its still running strong with 130K miles. Never a major issue. Just regular maintenance.
Scotty - love your philosophy on cars. You remind me of my Dad (that is a compliment). So - we owned a 2003 4Runner and drove it until 2018. The only reason we sold it was because it didn't have the safety equipment we wanted with driving our young kids around. Now we bought a used 2021 Honda Pilot Touring and couldn't be happier.
Honda Pilot saved my daughter’s life. Horrible accident but she came out of it without a scratch. Praise God + Toyota.✝
@@davisholman8149 I’m very glad to hear that everyone came out okay from such a terrible experience. Our Honda Pilot is our family workhorse for carting kids to school and soccer practice. Safety is the top priority for us. So did you get another Pilot?
This has: 2 hi, awd mode, 4hi, and 4 lo. The button you see puts it into “awd” mode. There is a button on dash left of steering wheel that locks it up like a traditional 4x4 if you want.
The “j shifter” version is the rarest. It has all I listed above plus locking rear diff on some models. 2000 is the holy grail for 4x4 configuration on 3rd generations.
Here in Colorado these are still EVERYWHERE.
I love the 4Runners, with a big vehicle like that and gets 20 mpg highway, you can't beat it, I also like the way they look
The Honda Pilot is insanely reliable and can go a 500K miles plus, if you keep up with the maintenance. We have a 2011 Honda Pilot with 280k miles on the OD. It has the original transmission in it with no issues at all. The key to trans longevity is changing the transmission fluid every 50K… and the engine burns no oil between intervals.
Petrol or diesel?
@@Truba194 petrol (gas)
You’re correct, maintenance is the key. My 07 pilot runs smooth with no major repairs done. I’m very strict with all fluid changes and only use 100% synthetic fluids.
Scotty’s always a wealth of great information. I used to hang really close to the service department when I sold Japanese luxury cars. Learned a lot by using my ears more than my mouth! 😉
We have a 08 Honda Pilot with 124,000 bought it with 117,000 original miles. Great vehicle, had timing belt replaced, tensioners, water pump, thermostat and coolant. My wife hated that I got it and now she won’t get off it. I suspect it will go another 117,000 no problem. Great car for traveling. Hands down Toyota and Honda make the best vehicles out there. Thanks for you videos Scotty, love your content 👍🏼👍🏼
Yeah. I've always owned 4WD pickups, but I was tempted by the Pilot and Sienna. Very practical vehicles.
Agreed! The only reason I don't have one is because it was totaled in an accident that wasn't my fault. I loved that car and wish i still had it.
We have an 08 with 205,000 miles on it and it runs smooth as silk!! The 1 generation pilots were built very well.
Hubby has a 2011 at just shy of 200K miles. No signs of stopping, standard maintenance.
Yup. We had to replace our transmission on our 2009 Honda Pilot a few years ago. It was $5000. We change the oil frequently at the dealership because we get nice printouts every time we get serviced. The car runs great other than that one huge purchase. We bought it used in 2015 from the dealership and it has 156,000 miles now. We plan on keeping it until the wheels fall off. Thanks for sharing your knowledge with us 🌹
What fun! Scotty, you're a riot! Love to see you in a good mood.
I own 2014 MDX and my wife and I love it. We only have one issue with wheel bearing last year since we bought it brand new. that was it. No regrets at all.
I got one too. Save up for the front struts. $1600 at 120k miles for me @ local Acura dealership
I just received my 2005 4-Runner v6 4x4 limited
delivered from CT.
135k miles. $10,500
The thing rides like a Cadillac, I didn’t expect that!
It’s my forever car, it’s in great shape and I’m going to take care of it.
Rust proof the frame and have fun with it!
Toyota Highlander might not make it 500,000 but 2 to 300,000 plus , with pretty good Gas Mileage , is good enough . My 2022 limited ( with third row seats ) is averaging over 21 to 22 so far , ( only 4,000 miles / Not Broke in yet ) My buddie has a 2018 same model averaging around 24 mpg plus. For a large SUV / Crossover , one of the best buys out there . JMO
@time traveler agreed! It’s a great family vehicle.
My 1993 Landcruiser has 340,000 miles on it and still running strong. Mileage sucks but it works as a part time truck for the beach and mountains.
I have a 2004 Tacoma with 203,000 miles on it and it runs beautifully. The frame was rusting away in it a few years ago but Toyota replaced it free of charge because it was a recall item. I love Toyota!
Great videos
Can you make a video on the basics of how to test drive a used vehicle and some normal main things to listen/ feel and watch out for ?
Thank you.
I have a 2006 Sequoia SR5 8 cylinder, 4 wheel drive, 3 row seats...
Real nice vehicle...
It has 20035 miles on it... Still going 👍 good
howdy Scotty, I have a 2004 Honda PIlot and this baby had 265,000 miles on it. Run like horse and never fail to start, original engine/transmission. Sold it last month due to high fuel this year! I believe this baby will run for another 200K+ miles~~
I save money watching scotty's videos! Learning something new all the time.
Bought a 2004 MDX with 90,000KM in 2010. Now has 230,000 KM and going strong. Love it
Got a 2004 pilot. It's been the most reliable car I've ever owned.
Great video, Scotty. As usual, you always deliver quality content.
My wifes' 2005 Four runner has 424,000 miles on it. Still runs as good as the day we bought it. I could kick myself for selling my Tundra that had the exact same engine and transmission.
I parted with cars that are worth tens of thousands of dollars, now. Cars that cost under 4k new in the 60s bring over 100k now.
If I only had a time machine!
@@OtayBuckwheat I have a 1964 Ford Galaxie I need to get back on the road. My granddad bought it new. My dad drove it to high school and college. I could probably get a little $$$$ for it.
@@jimwilliams9841 A two-door hardtop certainly is, and there were multiple inline 6 and V-8 powertrain options, some very rare, and a convertible is a mint on wheels.
@@jimwilliams9841 I have three vehicles eligible for antique tags, that I drive.

I love loaded a video of my Silverado and my Cutlass is the cover photo.
I also have a 2011 Camaro Convertible with less than 13,000 mi on it, and a Cadillac SRX with rear wheel drive.
@@OtayBuckwheat Nice cars! That Cutlass is a beauty! My Galaxie is a 4 door hard top so probably not worth a fortune, but it's still pretty rare. It has the 390 with a 4 barrel Holley carb from the factory. It's fun to drive.
A good follow up video would me titled "3 SUVs That Won't Last 50,000 Miles or Less." I nominate the Jeep Compass. I rented one of those for a day trip a few years ago and even with only 21,000 miles it was having random misfires and the transmission was shifting really rough.
after watching scotty, I know there are essentially two good cars - honda/acura and toyota nexus. nothing else comes close.
Rental miles are worth more.
All Jeeps that are not wranglers tend to suck imo. The Cherokees used to be very good but they have gone downhill.
I nominate all 2007 and newer GM suv's. That's when they went to active fuel management and started having engine misfires and electrical gremlins of no start issues.
Anything Chrysler is straight-up garbage. Honda/Toyota are the best vehicles by far.
Scotty is the funniest, most dependable, lonest lasting, accurate, informative and entertaining car guy on CZcams.
If you're not watching his channel, then you're missing out.
I've got a brother that is on his 3rd Pilot, he gave his last one to his son and he said that they are great 👍
I have a 05 Tundra 4.7 v8. Daily driven for 15 yrs now. I bought it with 46k miles. My best friend bought a 01 Tundra brand new in 01. He drives it Daily and now has 433k miles. He didn't change his timing belt until almost 400k miles. His original never broke, he's lucky. He just recently had to change some of the seals. His 01 has 4.7 v8 also and still runs very smooth and shifts very smooth. Other than the timing belt he has been very adamant about changing all floods at the factory intervals. He's done all maintenance himself.
Nice! My '97 Nissan Pathfinder lasted 25 years. I sold it last year in anticipation of issues due to age but it was running fine on the last day I had it. Loved the trunk space.
Amazing SUV Im looking for one 4x4 2doors.
Sounds like what u tell the buyer when it breaks down 😂 jkn. I smoke a J and I’m acting stupid lol. Blessings
Another informative video Scotty👍🏻👍🏻. Thank you for your videos.
I love my 4runner! I could care less about gas mileage. Bought mine used besides basic Maintenace the only thing I had to replace was when the rear window/hatch lock replaced that is it.
You could care less? Well i couldn’t care less. Meaning I care less than you!
Love my MDX! Alot of vehicle for the money. You are spot on with MPG's 16-20 mpg in comfort mode. The body line's are nicer than the pilot. . So far so good.
I have a '99 4 Runner...270K mi...solid and strong as can be! I has NEVER not started...ever! Runs great, drives great, no repairs except for starter motor solenoid contacts...spark plugs at 120Kmi (just cuz) and timing belt at 220K mi (didn't break just replaced it for preventative maintenance)...batteries every now and again. All accessories work. AC blows cold as ice. Thing is a dream. Owned a GMC SUV product before. Simply no comparison in quality and drivability.
I've been wanting a 4runner for a while now. This just makes me want one so much more!
I drive a 1998 Toyota 4Runner limited 4x4. Runs great, no smoke. Drive it and you would be shocked at the 324k miles. And I'll put another 300k on her.
@@adamwest8151 well I have a 2006 Toyota Solara right now, with only 162k miles on it, and I love it, but its definitely past time for an upgrade, especially since I have a doodle who thinks he us to go EVERYWHERE with us, which leaves hardly any room for the kiddos. And I've been wanting a 4runner 4eva!! Lol Can't wait to find mine! 🙂
I still have my 99 and I bought my 2021 4runner. Amazing car.
I love mine.
I currently own an 09 4runner V6 4x4, but have owned several over the years that were both newer or older. It drives tight and is rattle free even after 110k miles. I see them for sale with 300k+ all the time. If you maintain them they will last you forever.
Have a 2007 4Runner SR5 V6 I bought in 2019 that had 220k miles on it. Have 256k miles on it now and still going pretty solid. It did need some things in the first year or so of ownership, new power steering rack, radiator and brakes, but most of that's expected. Feel like it has less interior rattles than a lot of newer cars which is sad. Honestly I don't think it rides that badly either. I decided on a V6 rather than V8 since the V6 has a timing chain, but maybe a V8 wouldn't been a tad better if I wanted to tow more.
I undercoated the frame and subframe areas with POR15 to help it last longer/keep surface rust off. Planning to keep it until either the engine or transmission goes.
How much did you buy it?
How much undercoating cost and how often should be done?
We just bought a used a 2019 MDX and we love it.
I have a 97 4Runner, love it! 270k miles.
I love my recently purchased 1st Gen MDX. If you get an MDX, get the 04 & up. 02 & 03 had transmission issues but they corrected the issues starting on the 04 models. Just wish honda made an V8 model.
My 06 MDX has a hard shifting transmission at only 150k miles
@@elliottperkins4358 Change the fluid 3 times, with short intervals between each. There are several screens, and some have a filter. Make sure the fluid is at the correct level. Too much/little will also cause rough shift. WARNING: always use Honda/Acura fluids and parts.
Honda will never have a V8 and their 4wd system ain't all that gd tbh
I love my 2005 Acura MDX. Over 200k miles and she’s still going strong. Love my Lexus’ as well.
have you had any transmission problems? Im curently looking at an 06 mdx with 180k miles for 4k but all the pistons are misfiring
@@devoncarter5580 knock on wood I haven’t.
Not an SUV, but a vehicle that is super reliable and can last like forever - I inherited a 2005 Lexus LS 430 from my mother. The mechanic at the Lexus dealer told me not to sell it and to "keep it in the family." That model year was apparently known for its simplicity and reliability. It has 60K miles and a smooth V8 engine. No mechanical trouble at all, just maintenance. Sweet.
At the end of this month I will be buying my buddies 97 4Runner for 2k. Its a southern car so low rust. It has about 225k miles on it. I will be taking it in due to the AC not working but I am happy to hear these things are tanks!
92 land cruiser 350 thousand miles. Still runs strong.

No way
@@titanjake8640
Honestly, ours now has 135k mikes on and us about the same model year. The coolant pipes (those bad plastic ones) went when it was about 13 years old.
It’s also always been driven hard.
Truthfully it’s fir me the most reliable car owned ana least expensive on maintenance.
We had a 1999 Toyota 4 runner 2 wheel drive, 4 cylinder and 5 speed manual transmission.
We pulled a 2,000 lb tent trailer from southern california across arizona, new mexico, to
colorado and into Utah. We even went up very steep roads sometimes at 25 mph. Pulling even that 1 ton trailer we got under 15 mpg.
This smaller suv did the job pulling that trailer over 3,000 miles that trip. On flat interstates
it can pull that trailer at near or over 70 mph.
We sold our 1999 4 runner with near 200,000 miles for near $5,000 in the year 2018 for a nearly 20 year old vehicle. We had no problem selling our 4 runner for $5K. Without the trailer it got near 25 mpg and could cruse at 80 mph no problems. The better mileage was a speeds closer to 70 mph.
The 4 runner had great ground clearance with lots of room in the back with the seat folded down.
Incredible as it sounds we now have a 2013 Dodge Grand Caravan that will pull that 1 ton tent trailer even at 70 mph and gets near or over 20 mpg. The Grand Caravan has in incredible engine and drive train. It is an amazing vehicle. In the years near 2013 Dodge redesigned their 6 cylinder engine done by Domler Mercedes with the transmission.
That 3.6 engine earned my respect, good power at high rpms and smooth
We know that Scotty. But there are people that change cars every so often, they don’t wanna buy something once. It’s still a great info for those types of people, and you may convince them I’m sure ! I I have an old Corolla that’s like new .hahaha It’s great man. You remember me!
I had a Honda CR-V and even with bad tires, that thing was a freaking tank on snow and ice. I loved that thing!

Scotty how can you rip the odyssey and praise the mdx when they both use the same drivetrain components? I got rid of my mdx mainly because it has that stupid timing belt and got a 4runner. Even with 285's my '18 4runner gets better gas mileage than my '06 mdx did
My favorite car of all time was a 1991 Nissan Pathfinder just like that 4Runner. It was a dream. Sadly I live in PA and it was the rust that did it in. If I could drive something like that I would be a happy camper:+) God bless~
We have had 2 Honda Pilots...a 2003 and a 2004 and BOTH of their Transmissions went out!! No more Pilots!
But the Acura MDXs...even the older ones, go FOREVER!
FJ Cruiser has to be here too but it’s essentially a 4 runner
The Sequoia is the best Toyota SUV. Pulls way more than a 4runner and cruiser. At least that's my opinion as I turned mine into an overlander.
How in the world do we find a mechanic LIKE YOU!??!!

Pretty impressive for a 25 yo
I find Timing belts to be better if it is a non-interference engine.
I've been driving 2004 Honda Pilot AWD reach over 2,000,000 miles👈👍. The engine is still good and strong 👍
Thanks for making us feel better about our new purchase of a 99 4Runner. 15 years in Texas before landing in Buffalo. Hope that you’re still a Bills Fan! Thanks for your honest videos!❤😂🦬
Friend, get it!!!!! Change the belt + water pump and drive! Bulletproof!!!
# 1. 1994 Celica
I’ve got a 1st gen taco same engine as the 4Runner with 273k miles on the original timing belt 😅 I’d level it with bilstein 5100s much better ride
I had a Toyota Highland 2001 I had 480,000 kilometers it had no rust and was still going strong.
I had a 2005 4 Runner SRV 6 cylinder that was the best vehicle I've ever owned! I loved that truck and bought it new. It had surprising acceleration! The body was still clean in 2015 with 75,000 miles on it when I discovered holes in the frame! I wound up trading it in for way more than I expected to get. I got a 2015 Rav-4 which is just not anywhere near as good as that 4 Runner was! The new one's in 2015 seemed much too big for what I needed so I got the RAV-4..
I bought a 07 Honda Pilot. The guy that sold it to me rolled back the mileage 125k miles. I bought it with 115k miles. Tried to get my money back but I decided to just drive it into the ground after fighting with the guy. My 1/4 million mile Honda drives perfect, I have no issues with it. Just have to change my oil and she drives amazing. Drove from Cali to Colorado and had no issues at all. I’m hoping to get at least 4 more years out of the thing.
Don't forget the timing belt
Toyota Highlander definitely should be on here.
And Land Cruiser Prado.
Best 4 runner/Surf ever would be the VZN130 with a 1GR and 6-speed trans fitted.
Scotty is like the Energizer Bunny and these SUVs are also, they just keep going and going and going....😊
The Acura dealer near me is selling MDXs (as well as RDXs, Integras, & TLXs) w/no markup, plus has discounted financing/leases plus rebates for conquest/previous owners.
Bottom line is Acuras cost the same or less than similar Hondas since the Honda dealers all have markups of $5-15k. 🚙🚗
I have 2021 Pilot EXL. V6 gets 27.5 city and 30-31 hwy. Has most of the stuff the MDX has for $20,000 less. Been good so far.
That’s hard to believe to be honest. I don’t believe you.
15-19 mpg for City
24-28mpg on Highway
This sounds more logic
Yea I have the same one 21 highway 19 city
Very correct with salt exposed vehicles. They dump truck loads of salt every winter in the Upper Midwest and the Northeast.
Been buying Ford new since 1988. Last one is my 2014 F150. Best truck for me.
Bought a 2005 Pilot with 167,000 miles on it with a broken timing belt for $1200. South Carolina car from day one. Replaced the timing belt and water pump and HOLY MOLY the dang thing ran on all six cylinders with no bent valves! Got really lucky on it. Over 200,000 on it now with zero issues.
2002 Acura MDX with 430K. Running strong. First gen MDX notorious for transmission issues so I guess I got lucky.
Oh yeah… I have the sam car. 3 hundred thousand miles on it.. but I’m on my second transmission !!
Did you get it new? Check if the recall was done on it. You will see an oil cooler line on the fill plug.
@@kayjay4060 no. I brought it. Used.
@@harveyhankerson8359 Make sure to keep upon the fluids. Acura/honda fluid only. Call your local dealers and see if they have a discounted website. My local Honda and Acura dealers both have websites that you can buy online cheaper, and pick up from them. Saves a good amount of money too. I have had good luck getting deals on cases from my local Acura dealer.
Own a 2021 honda pilot and on the highway it gets 30+ mpg. Around town city/highway combined 24 mpg. Always use economy mode.
I welded seat frames center beams and rear sub frames for Honda in Ohio. I also used to get to destroy them in the destruct room so they could check the quality. Fun times.
2015 Mazda CX-5 Sport. Great SUV
Just bought a 2023 4Runner lol. I’m in Love with this thing!
I have a 2021, and I'm in love with mine too. They had to give me a rental when they put on new tires because they didn't balance them right the first time, they gave me a 2023, and literally nothing is different. They were supposed to get a redesign in 2022 but I guess that got pushed back. I drove a lot of very nice cars before I bought the 4Runner, and now I wouldn't trade it for a Mercedes.
@@huwhitecavebeast1972 i believe the 2023 has a lot more tech standard than the 21 but overall yes it is the same car.
I like my 2002 Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo 4.7L V8.
Doing the suspension, it's 20 years overdue
I have a 2010 Toyota tundra 4.6l v-8. Truck still runs strong and smooth with 279,000 on it.
Scotty I've never seen or heard any MDX or Acura reach 500k miles but many 4runners sequoia tundra lx470 gx470 land cruiser...
course you haven't Toyota makes around 8 million each year cars, on the other hand Acura makes less 150 thousand each year
next time get a better comparison like honda and Toyota that is a real competition
Have 326,000 on my MDX ‘06. Black on black. Seems like it has no signs of quitting.
I dailied a limited 4wd with the 2 colored arched fendered after high school until my parent sold it a couple years ago. We bought it new at $25k as a kid and racked 200k miles. It was a great car but the V6 was excessively slow despite it being loud and dramatic 😂 miss it tho
Beautiful vehicle, and the massaging seats are great, but it would make me tired so I wouldn't use it while driving
I had No Idea it is a Bypass Motor... Great Tip Scotty
Bought a new 2019 MDX and a 2019 RDX still drives like New...💯❤️ Them both.
WriteMe☝️
I rented 4runner in Belize. 100000miles on it. Airbags deployed.
Did pine ridge for 7 days
I had a 14 mdx and my mpg was around 20-22. I dont ise the sport all the time but i will probably still get 18 if im on sport mode. Dreaming of getting the mdx type s!
Agree! I do not understand people buying Mercedes... the proof is the Craig-List old Mercedes costs the same, as old other similar cars... and people are not buying those Mercedeses...
that's because there was a time a Mercedes was built to last 50 years or more and that is not true anymore , people look for quality , these days honda and toyota is a safer buy for long lasting vehicles
people buy old used cars to save money and Mercedes parts and work is expensive.
@@KaliAndy2 You would expect that for the price of Mercedes, you would get a better quality car. The used car business shows you how reliable the car is - it does not fare well for Mercedes... the reason is simple, German cars in general are unnecessarily over-engineered...
@@peterjanosik3601 big part of that is cost maintaining a car. $80k cars parts and labor will be a lot more expensive than 25k car. Old cars regardless how reliable they are will need maintenance. If you buy a car with 150k miles stuff like alternator, fuel pumps etc will need to be replaced at some point. Alternator for cheaper car might be $80 for parts and easy to replace. For luxury car it might be $500+ plus labor. People who buy old cars are generally tight on money and can't afford expensive upkeep of a luxury car. And people who buy luxury cars generally have money and don't want to buy an old one.
@@KaliAndy2 I think we do not understand each other. The problem is that German car makers are cashing in on the pool of people that understand the necessity of unnecessary engineering (and car logo). I am not sure though if those people realize that the resale value of old Mercedes drops a lot more than the resale value of other luxury cars. Practical people make practical decisions.
Scotty has such a wonderful soul.
My MDX is in the shop right now because it broke down… All cars can break down. The master brake cylinder needed replacing. My sister has the exact same model and had to have hers replaced about a month before mine.
My father has a Nissan Xterra over 300k still running strong.
What! No Lexus RX! I am just passing 300,000 on my '99 RX 300 and it runs like it is new.... Also acquired a '17 RX350 and just reached 45,000 miles. Fact is... these are the least expensive vehicles I have ever owned because that are so reliable! Sadly, I learned the hard way about reliability after owning money pits from Land Rover, BMW, and Mercedes Benz....
Land Rover wins for most trips to the dealership. BMW and Mercedes charge astronomical prices for cheap, plastic parts.
Totally agree! I have a 2013 RX350 F Sport and I love it! Has a little over 100,000 miles and runs like a top. It’s the third one I’ve owned. They last forever and still look like new. I don’t pay any more for repairs then I did on my Toyotas. They are a bargain in the long run.
I got an ‘04 RX330 AWD, everything still works. 0nly 38,500 on the clock. Long live Lexus!
My 2007 MB ML350 started having problems exactly at 150K had to junk it, meanwhile 2005 Pilot still running strong with 280K
Scotty, I have a 1996 Toyota 4runner 3.4l 4wd. The front passenger brake caliper keeps seizing up on the rotor so snug that I can barely turn the wheel with my hands. The pistons in the caliper will not retract. I have replaced the caliper several times and it keeps doing the same thing. I replaced the ABS module and master cylinder, that didnt help either. It is also building up pressure inside of the valve covers and blowing lots of oil out from the gaskets. Could the seized caliper be causing the extreme pressureto build inside the valve covers when I drive? Do you have any suggestions on what could be causing the caliper to keep seizing.
Yep it’s from 96 that’s why.
Replace the hose
@@edwardhalpin7503 false
The clip on the hose may have rusted and prevent fluid going back
Change your brake lines from your master cylinder to your calipers I had the same problem and fixed it
