Australia Day at the farm, BBQ, family day, Barney’s diet

- It was a public holiday here in Australia for Australia Day. We had a relaxed day together.
BBQ hamburgers and backyard playtime. We checked out the puppy playground early in the morning after our training sessions.
Luke talks through some of our feeding regimes. Barney is transitioning to include fresh food in his diet. He has started to refuse his special kibble for his health issues because he likes what the other dogs are getting better. We’ve come up with a plan with Dagma our Boxer Rescue representative, to trial freshly cooked salmon in his diet and head towards transitioning him to raw. He is an underweight dog who needs to eat to put on weight, so his diet is a priority for all of us here at the farm.
Barney likes the salmon so this is a big win. In our experience Boxers generally can have intolerances to many common proteins; beef and chicken etc. So fish, roo, crocodile etc are often proteins that Boxers can tolerate. This is on top of Barney’s already complicated diet requirements.
Barney needs to put on weight but becoming constipated or having an obstruction will likely be his last meal because of his condition. So his diet is extremely important.

My heart really goes out to Violet. I had a blind dog for many years (who had been dumped in my front yard) he was a wonderful dog, got around so well, loved to ride in the car. A gem.

Thank you for giving us a small slice of happiness in the world of stress and sadness. To see the care given to those who cannot defend themselves, who did nothing to be used and abused is something pure and glorious to behold, it is also funny and cute to see little ones (human and canine) messing about in mud and sand.

The comments are back on!!!! YES YES YES!!!!! We love you guys at the Farm and all the wonderful Farm Followers around the world. Barney looks so happy, the new puppy pics are adorable, another 'famous' Mr. Orange in the making and gee those German Shephard puppies and their doggies parents are really incredible GS's. Yes all GSs and all dogs are wonderful, but its almost as if the rescue guardian angels new to place them there to be such amazing friends and mentors to all the new and future puppies coming through the farm. Its so beautiful to watch and just a reflection of the love Uncle Luke and Auntie Sam show their family and the pups. I miss seeing Freddo's bow ties but I'm thinking they're gone because he's now a big 'Uncle' like Uncle Yo to all the little puppies and they'd be trying to pull at his bow ties all the time. The video of the puppies getting their 1st bath and their collars was great...especially the pictures in the barrel. I forgot who but someone decided it was a better chew toy than photography prop, haha

Given that I agree monitoring social media does take a long time behind the scenes many don't realize. Maybe the discontented folks have all found a different channel...I have missed the sense of community but the amount of time Sam and a few admin staff were putting toward comments was a drain. I think comments from time to time is a great option.

I'm so glad you adopted those three german Shepard puppies. They have an amazing tolerance and nurturing instinct. I just love them! The boxers are also very good babysitters!

The way u fed Freddo was very clever getting him used to pack feeding. He looks superb, he is benefiting from the good food he is really filling out. I noticed Freddo walk with Lucy (i think) near start of video, Freddo really wants to be her friend I thought. Bless those staffie pups and Mama Shadow Im grateful fate gave them to Luke 🖤 edit praying for Shadow. We are all rooting for you girl🖤🖤🖤🖤🖤 very sorry for what humans have done to that little girl. I think thats why fate gave her to Luke , she deserves the best 🖤🖤🖤
You expressed the feelings of so many of us very well. Tragic that one or two careless humans can cause animals so much damage. Thank goodness that Uncle Luke and Auntir Sam and DDFT have been send into the rescue. I do hope that sweet Shadow will eventually be able to have her forever home find her when she is ready

Doggy Dinner Time is a full-time job in itself! With all those hungry tummies you might need to hire a few short-order cooks pretty soon! 🤣 The whole scene reminds me of the kitchen in a very busy downtown diner. Good boy Barney! You're the newest member of The Clean Plate Club! Aaaaaaww Lil' Miss Violet running toward the sound of Aunty Sam's voice just gets me all misty-eyed. It's so beautiful the way the little puppies have adopted the older doggies...they are lucky to have so many sweet surrogate Mums, Dads, Aunties, and Uncles. I have learned so much about different dogs since starting to watch DDC! I thought that German Shepherds with back that was not straight had some form of hip dysplasia ! Instead they are show dogs!!! Then I learned about kelpies, cow dogs and vizsla dogs! Its amazing how all these dogs come together to make a great team at the farm teaching so many About their different traits! I have fell in love with all the puppies and the doggies. They all have unique personality. They are so happy at the farm. Uncle you make us all not want grow up. That little girl is not completely blind, see also sees Sam's hands when Sam reaches out to pet her... Love to see them all so relaxed, especially at dinner time!! Do you think Barney's hind/rear muscles might be improving now that he's getting so much more exercise??

Such a relaxing day. Luke is a two arm kiddo daddy. I can’t wait to see the puppers reaction to their new play ground. Did you know, fabulous fam & pups, that one of five requirements to heal in health is "happy". Luke taught us all this lesson with beautiful Sam and their precious Bundles too! Recently watched older videos of how patient and gentle Riker was with a puppy named Cutie Pie. I had no idea we would get to enjoy watching intergenerational, canine, behavioral training, playing and patience. Conrad & Lucy’s pups are amazing with the little ones. And watching Bandit be Bandit is somehow therapeutic and reassuring. Thanks to your whole family for sharing goodness with us. PS. . .I guess we’re wondering how Shadow is, and hoping for the very best.

@@gossamerabba My kids loved the toothfairy....early front teeth were 4 quarters and bigger molars (baby teeth with not much of a root but more surface got 8 quarters. Guess
we'll find out!!:) I'm sure that door knob story did the trick. that worked at our house too..and not swallowing the tooth to miss out on the quarters. thanks for the fun. J
