    This video saved us so much money! My gf's car door stopped opening from the Innside and we thought we'd have to take it into a shop and pay hundreds and money is very tight right now. I've never taken a door panel off but the step-by-step here helped me do it comfortably and I found that the handle had just come off of the cable and I was able to fix it for free. THANK YOU! 🙏

    Thanks so much for this video! I'd cracked the frame around my 2010 Impreza passenger side mirror and, after watching this and another video- found a used OEM part that matched the paint for that year class- started around 14:12 and had it back together and project cleaned up by 15:00- though with the mirror, I didn't need to fully disconnect the door mechanisms- just the speaker and mirror, and used the box the new/used part came in to support the panel. Can''t believe I waited so long to just get it done, this video was a huge help!!

    Thanks for the info buddy. I thought I broke those clips on the sail panel when I put a new stereo system in her Impreza. Turns out I just needed to pull those clips out and put em back on the panel. It was driving me crazy because I thought I broke those panels, I actually came across your video trying to shop for new ones on google.

    First of all thanks for the video, will need to get access to my speakers and this was the best video I found to help me. Secondly funny enough I have the exact same flathead screw driver. Probably one reason the speakers sound so bad looks is that it looks they never installed the crossover to the midranges in your door (that is, the two wires he just clamped...they are for the midrange in the door). I am going to try and add new speakers, and a dampener over the door for wind & plastic rattle noises. Been watching caraudiofabrication on youtube and he does things very precisely.

      @steveo5174 Před 3 lety

      I'm running Clarion SRD1700S front speakers from the factory head unit and they sound amazing. Because my doors are completely sound deadened and I didn't use a hollow plastic speaker spacer ring to fit them. I also have foam rings around the speaker that act as a gasket between the speaker and the door trim preventing any sound waves from getting trapped inside the door and resonating.
      Whoever fitted those Focal's just did a terrible job.

    I just installed those same speakers with jbl for the rear with a pioneer deck and the focals sounds fantastic with no amp. I would put some foam tape between the door and the speaker bracket and between the speaker and the bracket as well if you can. Or even a thin bead of silicone, careful not to get it on the speaker. I installed them myself and direct soldered to the speaker and all connections. Also then throw some of that sticky tape on the crossover and get it secure so it isn't rattling around, don't want to damage it. I learned a few years ago that sealing the speakers up can make a big difference.

    Nissan/Niles switch controls have been a mainstay in Japan manufactured Subarus for quite a while. They're in my 2001 Forester too. Don't know about the ones made in Indiana. The dashboard switches in my Forester DO have the Fuji Heavy logo on them...so yeah...weird.

    Focal is top top end. As you said, the problem with your setup is impedance mismatch. I have had a lot of Focal sets, including a Kevlar $800 front set once. Also, even the base Focals need an amp to sound good. Polyglass is my favorite line, i didnt like the cheaper line under that.

      LastHumansGarage its funny because I have two amps and subs sitting in my garage but I don't want to take up trunk space. I know that they make some nice powerful small amps these days thought. I really miss the Harmon Kardon system in the 12 Legacy I had before this.

    • @LastHumansGarage
      @LastHumansGarage Před 9 lety

      Blake's Garage One of the smallest amps you could get right before I lost interest in building systems was the Arc mini. Although it didnt sound nearly as good as my high end amps, it did have good volume for its size. The only amps I had which I thought were worth the sound were Tru Technology, McIntosh, and sinfoni. I had all the other mainstream brands, Pioneer, Alpine, Rockford, PPI, and they were all crap in comparison.

  • @jugdhiss
    @jugdhiss Před 2 lety

    You completely forgot about the middle clip in the power lock/power window button assembly piece. 🤔 The "Rattling" might have been caused by the metal fastener falling into your inner door panel. I cracked my panel prying on one end on it, thinking there was only two clips like you clearly stated in your video. 🤨

    I have stock speakers with stock 6CD changer. The sound is horrible. I mean there is no rattling or no other sign of failure, but sound s so flat... There is virtually no treble and the sound is like out of a bucket. I have tried different amp and could not see any difference. As electronics engineer, I can't see how the amp can give a big difference, unless a shady equalizer is used.
