Only enter into a pin if you are sure the pinned piece cannot be attacked again. In this case they could have just moved their c pawn and your bishop would have been lost.
That self-imposed Queen pin was just inexplicable. As an 1100, I can't understand why one would ever do that in the position. And why release the tension on the pinned knight to the Queen earlier in the game?
he’s a human and not feeling well in this video, nobody can be as sharp in this situation.
Only explanation for the self-imposed Queen pin is because he is Patrick "The Pawn Grabber."
The original sin was grabbing the pawn on b7. Qb3 was his attempt to justify it.
@@sealcraft4353I don't think that's an excuse for fundamentally bad chess.
as a 1100 you should keep your mouth shut and let the adults play ☺️
Always hard to play when you're sick. Feel better!
Good things: you castled kingside. Yay, very good.
You put you pawns on dark squares to counteract his bishop. Very smart.
Bad things: you traded pieces for no reason except to help his development. (You seem to love trading your bishop that is pinning his knight off for his knight and letting his Queen develop. Just don’t do it. Stop it Patrick. Please stop doing it.)
You pinned your Queen for no reason.
He pinned his Queen in an attempt to justify his pawn grab on b7, instead of just admitting that it was a bad idea in the first place.
I have mentioned this before Patrick. You shouldn't pin yourself. Qb3 is a terrible move. Black plays c6 and your bishop is dead.
Much better here is Qf3. Luckily black missed it.
All your troubles were caused by this move. Until then you were cruising to a win. But after Qb3 your bishop couldn't move and your queen was tied down to defend the bishop.
Can’t believe c6was missedat this level
Feel better soon Patrick!
He keeps taking pinned night with the bishop! He is making this mistake in 60% of the games.
It may help, since you are musically inclined, to think of a game of chess as a composition. Theme, variations, motif, even the Gioco Piano, the Quiet Game, are all terms borrowed from music, so you don't want to play something off key like a blunder.
Don't self-pin, Qb3? Qf3, earlier h4 instead of f4, if you want to attack the queen. After Qb3 Black missed c3 winning immediately, both rooks attack your bishop plus the weakness you created. You had at least a draw, before your mistakes. a4 to try to get the pawn up to protect the bishop, Qe5 to protect the bishop and get out of the self-created pin. Look all over the board. You found it, though Be4 still saved you, it attacks the black queen and the rook.
Though earlier instead of Kf3? Be4 attacks both his queen and rook, it still works here as black made a poor move.
Ba6, instead of Bc6 as it protects the diagonal and the e2 square also it threatens Bc4 threatening f7, and you can close the file with Bb3.
Finally. instead of fg, Re8+ forces the rooks off and leads to a drawn game. Bishops of opposite colors.
There is always hope even when you make a mistake, your opponent made some bad moves too. Don't give up, for if you mentally quit you are finished.
Queen b3 was a crazy move
I hope you feel better, take all the rest you need!
this is 10 mins rapid correct? or maybe not since time adds after move
It’s 10|5 so with 5 second increments after each move.
there’s nothing wrong with the exchange french, but it’s not very challenging and allows black to equalise very easily. so id recommend something else against the french.
Agreed, exchange french is for low rated
Still giving away bishop pair with no compensation.
Self-pin for the Win… I mean Loss. No reason to trade a good bishop in a relatively open position and no need to self pin the queen. I think you self restructed on this one sadly. Opponent was patient and made good moves.
Hey Patrick, I'm in a similar situation to you as far as family and work go, so I can totally understand not having a lot of time to devote to studying chess. However, if you want to get to 2000, I think you need to figure out how to make time for that and also get a coach. You're not going to get there playing a game a day with a cursory analysis.
You played well in the opening. You lost the game because you couldn't give up a pawn and move your bishop.
Time to get a chess coach? Would help you understand the underlying reasons for a good move va bad move.
Too bad..
I don't think you are doing your analysis properly. You noticed that stockfish said that Qb3 was a blunder. But you didn't see why. First of all you should have looked to see what you should have done instead. Was it Qf3 or was it simply to move the bishop and give up the b2 pawn. And you didn't look to see how black should have taken advantage of Qf3 (that is, c6). Hopefully you will read the comments.
However, doing a really thorough analysis is important in my opinion. You just rushed through it today. Maybe you were fed up with how the game went.
You do realize that he is sick, and can barely speak? And you expect a long analysis? He should rest as much as possible
@@Formula7Driver I don''t know how long you have been following Patrick. I have been for a very long time. And I have made this comment about the analysis many times. It is not just today that this has happened. And to be fair, it is not only Patrick. Many other chess youtubers conduct the flimsiest of analysis and then seem surprised when they keep making the same mistake.
Analysis is key to improvement. So it is not so much that I am asking him to give us a long analysis. I couldn't give a toss. I am reminding him to do a fuller analysis himself. He can do that offline and he doesn't have to speak. He can also do it when he is feeling better. I am just reminding him that he needs to do a much more comprehensive analysis than the one that he posted today (and that he usually posts even when he is feeling well). Perhaps he is doing that more comprehensive analysis off screen. I hope so.
@@stephenwestland942 now is not the time to point that out
@@Formula7Driver We will have to agree to disagree. I think it is the time.
@@Formula7Driver We will have to agree to disagree. I think now is the time. Patrick does not have to ready these comments now. If he is as ill as you say he won't. But when he is feeling better he may come back and review the comments on this game. At that point he will find the comment exactly where it should be - connected to this game.
Shame keep going
Don't pin your queen!!!
Yeah, this was Like one of His worst moves ever. An 800 elo Player Plays Like this but Not an 1500
And black continued also very badly didnt see that c6 Just wins the bishop. And I would also guess Patrick didnt see the tactic with Be4 attacking the Queen, but after Rxb3, bxg6, rxb2 black wins also a pawn. So the Play both very badly here
@@powerslave88888 yeah we all do dumb stuff. I just hit 1555 and God knows I do stuff where 10 seconds later I'm like...wtf was I thinking? lol
For all of those questioning why Patrick pinned his own Queen to his bishop, the answer is easy: Patrick "The Pawn Grabber."
What kind of life do you live to where you repeatedly post negative comments about someone trying to improve at a board game?
@@avaught20 I just don't like people.....oh yes, and I hate YOU!
Yup. I've noticed that too. Kinda stale, I think
