Something I'd love for a video would be an older structure deck vs a new structure deck
Hysteric Party can only bring back "Harpy Ladys" the sisters are not treated as Harpy ladys. Also the Sister need to be first Special summoned by Elegant egoist. So Paul should have lost the first round. Also ya cant reborn a Sister that u discarded.
@@ygorushduel8041 plus Megarock would have been on 2800 because it counts all rocks that are banished when it’s summoned, not all the cards it banishes for its summon.

Agreed, I have a collection of unopened OCG old school structure decks because of how gorgeous their design was, with majestic cover monsters, thoughtful color palette, and how the OCG box also have the fonts with a glossy relief print: classic Yu-Gi-Oh! was best Yu-Gi-Oh!

Salad is vary interactive and we are not a slower more control deck rented format. The only tier 1 combo deck would be dritron.
Don't forget that back then you had even less solutions for a comeback unless you drew a one of card Luke rageki or dark hole. Toda decks can consist come back with only one or 2 cards. Salad is a great example where 1 gazel can lead 2 an access code talker.
There's literally cards regularly played in modern yugioh you discard to interrupt your opponent's play, and fun is subjective

@@styxxiii I always figured in lore he was just a statue of Exodia that they carved which came to life somehow. That's about as much thought as they gave it back then, and even a lot of the time now.
I remember when that earth deck came out I was so excited for an Exodia themed card. To say the least it was a fun & different way to play it's a shame it wasn't a great deck.

These Structure deck duels are great. The editing keeps it really fast pace but the gameplay is easy to follow as well. Great vids.

Good Intro. Really like how you guys explained the different cards/effects and how to summon Earth and Wind structure deck bosses.
Entertaining as always, and expensive no doubt, I normally don’t notice these things but harpie lady sisters can’t be summoned by the trap as they aren’t harpies lady’s specifically (I do despise that this is a rule though as it can be confusing)
It's a long standing rule. It's a bit bothersome, but it prevents issues that could come up.
It's not hard though. Example: Add 1 'Dark Magician' to hand. Means it can only be 'Dark Magician'. Never 'Dark Magician Knight' or 'Dark Magician Girl'.
But if it says 'Dark Magician' Monster', than any card with Dark Magician in its name is fair game. Like 'Dark Magician of Chaos'
Reminds me of "ancient gear" and how it can only be special summoned when specifically another "ancient gear" is on the field and not just any ancient gear monster
"I will banish this Gigantes from my graveyard to special summon.... A Gigantes!!" I laughed out loud lmfao

Just pause the video if you need to read it. For me I know all of these cards so personally if it was longer I’d be getting bored but that’s just me
I absolutely love the videos you guys have of older structure decks. It really takes me back to when Yu-Gi-Oh was just a lot of fun to play with friends. I remember when FTKs and OTKs were extremely rare. Nowadays with the current meta it happens all the time without having a competitive deck to retaliate.
My brother and I got these decks as a present and they were our first ones. Good memories. Thanks for playing this match and letting me relive it.

I haven't followed much of Yu-gi-oh after 2009, but still absolutely love all the old school cards and still playing with them. I always enjoy your content but i'm really enjoying all these older card duels! Great stuff guys!

I haven't played Yu-g-oh, since the release of the Atlantean Structure deck. There are many amazing Yugi-tubers, and Team APS, all of you are in the top. Your production levels are top notch, and you hit that nostalgia with videos like these.

Watching the game of chicken of wombo combos, negates, and hand traps in modern makes me really appreciate these very back and forth brawls that are tense the whole time.
God the nostalgia, that Wind deck is what I got my dad to use as a kid. These vids have been such an amazing trip back to my childhood!

What I find ironic with Exxod is that it's design is clearly inspired by Exodia, so what's possibly the worse structure deck was inspired by one of the most powerful monsters in the game.

My second deck after Kaiba's, was the simorgh harpie deck, and after that I never left those harpies, and stick with them, cool vid

Brings back memories of when I used to play I run a Jinzo beat down deck back then and it wasn't until Invasion of Chaos until I started losing with it. Nobleman of Crossout used to be one of my favourite cards hitting a cyber jar with it felt so good. :)

Megarock dragon's original attack becomes the number of monsters removed, x700. So his original attack would've been 2800 at 29:50ish. Would've dealt 1400. Just a note for the future.
It's the number of monsters. It has nothing to do with the banished monsters atk

This takes me back with the earth deck. a Few years prior to the structure deck being release went to a UK regional event with a similar style of flip effect deck using Guardian Sphinx and Gigantes etc and somehow managed to top 8 the event. The build from what i remember was very close to what the structure deck would release. Same that slip effects aren't really a thing any more.
What a great classic game of Yugioh when it was just fast and furious enough! Wonderful and nostalgic vid guys! Even if Paul forgot what Reckless Greed did and Alec used Ectoplasmer on the one monster in his deck with lethal power....but not original attack XD Ouch.

Last time I checked, it's latest Errata of Sisters stated "Must First" so he can Special out the Sisters as long as they were properly Special Summoned first.
@@jamespolk6146 Sadly Hysteric Party only works for monsters named Harpie Lady and Harpie Lady Sisters sadly isn't treated as one. All the newer ones are though so it's still a cool card.

Since everyone else is mentioning Megarock Dragon's ATK and Harpie Lady Sisters' illegal Summons, I'll mention that replays only occur when the number of monsters on your opponent's field changes, not your own.
Edit: Clearly I need to edit this year+ old comment, because over a year later, I am still being harassed for trying to genuinely offer help to someone who clearly was unaware of a rule of a game they clearly care about.
When I was growing up, I was taught to offer help to people who needed it. If I was playing a game I liked and didn't know a rule, I would want someone to explain the rule to me. That's all I was doing, offering help. If me, a random stranger, offering help to another random stranger somehow upsets you so much that you feel the need to keep harassing me over a year after the fact, then you need to ask yourself why people being nice to each other hurts you so much, because being mad at someone offering to help someone else is a very abnormal reaction.
I even made sure to check the other comments first to make sure I wasn't repeating something someone already said. When I made this comment over a year ago, no one had mentioned the replay mistake, yet, as far as I could tell. I wasn't going to leave a comment if they already had a dozen comments about it, but they didn't, so I just offered help with a rule they weren't aware of.
If anyone at Team APS took offense to me explaining a rule to them a year ago, please tell me. I will apologize for it. I didn't mean any disrespect. I was just trying to help since it's obvious each of you care deeply about this game, and if you cared so much, I just assumed you would want to know a rule you were unfamiliar with. I didn't know trying to help someone would get me harassed repeatedly for the next year+.

I will admit the summon of the populated sisters from hysteric party's cost was an illegal summon
"After you’ve announced your attacking monster and the attack target monster during a Battle Step, the attack target might be removed from the field, or a new monster may be played onto the opponent’s side of the field before the Damage Step, due to a card’s effect. This causes a “Replay.” - The specific ruling.
The spirit thing had 1500 defense right? Yet lost to 1500 attack...

That Reload artwork is horrifying. Reloading a pyramid magazine would be a terrifying experience in that manner.
I've mentioned this on other Yugioh CZcams videos, but the Exxod structure deck is what got me back into Yugioh after years. I found it at an antique store I frequent, decided it looked cool, and the rest is history.

That last match was so close. I miss old school YGO when it got down to the wire like that and it wasn't about doing 10 combos in your first turn for a FTK.
FTKs have always been extremely rare and almost never competitively viable. That's no different today.

It would be cool. But it just won't work. The game just doesn't function that way anymore.
A deck that slow, with that little interaction. Would just fall apart when your opponent either destroys your entire Field outside of the Battle Phase, or you wind up against Ultimate Conductor Tyranno, and he wrecks your entire deck on his own.

Ps: technically you can't summon Harpie Lady Sisters with Hysteric Party because it only summons Harpie Lady and the monster doesn't treat as Harpie Lady in the graveyard as future Harpie Monsters does, second HLS wasn't properly summoned because it must be first summoned with Elegant Egotist.

Exxod misplay turn 2. Should have hit bird face with moai cannon for 400 damage, then hit for 4000 with statue
They DID misplay but stone statue doubles the battle damage when itself is attacked by the opponent but i like that idea lmao
Stone Statue of the Aztecs only doubles the damage when the opponent attacks it, not when it attacks.
Is it me or is it weird when people don't summon their boss monsters in the center of the field? I always feel like the middle is exclusive to game-changers/boss monsters.
Haven't watched this yet, but I'm just happy to see my boy Exxod in a video. Still got my old Rock-Lock deck that had him at the center. Good fun back in the day.
This Earth deck was my favourite structure as a kid, an old friend played Sorceror of Dark Magic and I had nothing that could beat him until I got it. I remember stalling for like 5 turns with Exxod (searched by Sangan) before dropping a 7,000atk Megarock and winning!

I ran the tables in high school with The Invincible Fortress deck, loved it. Always brought it out when I meant business.
