#YuGiOh #Starter #Classic - Hry
That ending to the duel. Felt like something that would play out in the anime. Down to the wire, one last draw, betting it all on the odds. Time Wizard for the Win.
It's nice to know that if joey actually made it to pegasus in duel kingdom he would have won
i know right💯💯
Knowing your opponent's cards doesn't help you against sheer dumb luck.
Um, he lost before that happened. To return malevolent nuzzler he had to pay LP they forgot to substract.
@@JediMage oh reallyy? damnn
Winning with Time Wizard's effect was the most Joey thing ever. Nice job
The duels look so much more fun and more entertaining than these days
Cause there's interaction and not just 10min combos. Janky stuff but simpler times
@@bucket_o_noodles8914 We really need a strict jank format in Yu-Gi-Oh
it's actually possible to follow what's happening even if you dont play the game/know every card
@@Skeeeewoah it bothers me that this doesn't exist yet. Sometimes I return to the game and just want to play with old school cards/decks and its just not even a possibility it sucks
@@morganhart1396 same. I mean we have GOAT format, but only certain game stores play
I love that back in the day they would shorten words in the titles of cards like "Reb Eyes B. Dragon" to shorten the name a little bit, but now you have cards like "Number 81: Superdreadnought Rail Cannon Super Dora"
Also goes with most superdreadnaught cards like super dora, liebe, gustav max, etc.
But Blue-Eyes White Dragon is a longer card name yet was not shortened. They just had a weird aversion to the word 'Black' in those Red-Eyes names.
@@zeemaster99 in the whole game - see also Black Magician becoming Dark Magician
@@cashnelson2306 somewhat. Konami was just being selectively weird with black in card titles back then. For example, the ritual spell card for Relinquished was still kept as 'Black Illusion Ritual' without any abbreviation or replacement, same with Black Luster Soldier.
@@zeemaster99 Maybe because Black Magician and Red eyes refer to skin color black, monsters. Different from Black Luster Soldier (Green, funny though haha) and Black Ilusion ritual refers to dark craft? 🤔
That was a real Joey moment at the end
TIME WIZARD!!! - Joey wheeler voice lol 😂
@jayceeleon TIME ROULETTE GO!!!

Wow keep making more contents👍
The ending was perfect canon to Joey's character. 10/10
Awesome ending!! ^^
what a joey win for real.

Please never stop, Yugioh has an endless space in my heart
Didn't think I'd find you here lol
Me too
These decks are so special to me. They were the prizes in the first tournament I ever played in. I begged my grandparents to let me go and they said yes. They even took me to KB toys on the way over to the food court where the tournament was and got me some packs to help me out. It was a tag team duel and I ended up getting second place. My partner LEFT me because they got their boss monster out. The two that won were so nice to me. They already got the decks so they let me have both of them. It was such a fun day. Then we dueled and traded afterwards. Idk where those guys are now but I hope they’re doing well.
That souns like a really nice childhood memory❤
Hope you have the oportunity to do the same thing for a kid in his firs tournament experience
That's such a cool story man. I never went to any tournaments, but my friends and I spent our entire childhoods witht he game. The first deck we ever got was Joey Starter. Such good times man
"You wanna see something cool?"
"No."
*Shows something cool*
"That is very kind"
*Shows something cooler*
"Oh that's RUDE!"
Joey's deck was easily my favorite out of the OG Starter Decks!
It is the best one.
Joey's cards always felt the most appropriate for a real card game to me. So many others in the anime were played like a role playing game. Joey's had straightforward effects.
nothing cool about dm era trash
@@EBlade3529 You must hate parties huh?
@@EBlade3529 guess we found out who loses to blue-eyes every time
Man, that equip murder was so hilarious! First card “I got your monster a gift!” “That’s nice of you!” Plays second spell card “the gift is death!” Look of pure shocked betrayal!
funny thing "gift" is also a german word, which would translate to poison. So it kinda really is "gift"
Just imagining in my head Joey taking down Pegasus, that final moment man. Just imagine it:
"Your cards are no match for the magic of my Millennium Eye! I can see everything you do!"
"Yeah, you can see everythin' I do, deres one ting ya CAN'T see!"
"Hmm?"
*Joey windmill slams Time Wizard onto the board* "Fate!"
*Mortified expression from Pegasus*
I mean, if Joey can practically beat Marik of all people, he definitely would've been able to go toe-to-toe with Pegasus.
I think ages up toon monsters will either look like normal aged up monsters or un-toon monsters to signify that the kids watching the cartoons grew up and are more attracted to the more hyper realistic designs of the original monsters
@@logicaltips4107 Cartoons get remasters here and there, so I could see a new addition to Toons. "Toon Mermaid - Remastered", "Toon Skull - Remastered", etc. Easier survivability, summoning conditions, and you can pitch any of them from the grave to the hand to find Toon World from the deck. New field spell that counts as Toon World, gives major buffs and can banish a toon from the grave instead of it being destroyed.
@@Aorpheat so they could search out toon kingdom? Also I really like the idea of “remastered” toon cards, that’s clever
“Joey boy, do you really think luck is on your side”
“Well, we’re gonna see ain’t we Pegasus! I I’m activatin my time wizards time roulette!!”
Dramatic pause as we wait for the outcome
It's funny how in game 3 he won in typical Joey fashion through pure luck lol. Great video guys.
This was great back when Yugioh was simpler. The duels just hit different and man the nostalgia rocks!
Yes, love some classic Yu-Gi.Oh. I haven't played since probably 2009 or 10, but a few years ago I bought a couple of boosters just for fun. Every card I pulled had a wall of text, every single card had an effect, and several of them referenced abilities I'd never heard of. Whatever happened to the basic attack monster and the easy to understand spells? If I had maybe though about getting back in the game then, those boosters turned me off from it.
@@Blixthand Love old school yugioh, but the game had to evolve to survive. Thankfully there are lots of ways to still play old school, GOAT format is HUGE right now and there's lots of groups dedicated to playing older style games. So at least players have these options which I think is really neat. Though I too sometimes miss seeing normal beatsticks!
@@Blixthand I recently got back to collecting older cards and got punched with these new cards... the game has become just COMBO COMBO COMBO hahaha. One strange thing I noticed is some cards can't be affected by monster atacks, spells and effects sooo how the hell do you kill them? Imagine 2 decks like that trying to duel, it would be just lame. Or am I missing something?
Friendship! xD
@@ThiagoQuintoMartins Ah yes, we call those monsters Towers, due to a very pesky pendulum monster back in the day called Towers. They look unbeatable, but there are outs, and its something duelists should consider when building their main, extra or side deck.
Firstly there are monsters called Kaijus, which tribute an opponents monster. Most Tower like monsters can still be tributed for a summon so that works wonders. Old school monsters like Lava Golem still Dee play to this day because of this, but Ra sphere mode also works.
The second most common out is making a monster with bigger attack, or one that gains atk equal to the opposing monster. Extra deck monsters like Crystalwing, Borrelsword and Mekk Knight Crusadia are some great choices here.
Yugioh is a game, and has always been a game about thinking outside the box to find victory, that's why I love it so much! Hope this helps 😊
That last one ended exactly like I'd expect one of Joey's duels to go. Down to the wire and decided solely by Time Wizard's effect. Total Joey.
This is why Joey's duels were always fun to watch!
Love the old style of dueling a lot it give pretty much everyone a fair shot at winning instead of people buying there way to be good
the ppl willing to spend alot of money on it were the ones who use to win more back in the day as well. js
That de-spell+fissure combo was a really clever move, reminds me of Kaiba shrinking his own monsters so that he can use crush card virus. Would be cool to see those kinds of plays get some kind of archetype based around it where you either juice up or weaken a monster based on which effect you want
not really he should have suicide with the scapegoat token and saved the fissure, token cudve attacked into relinquished, both zero attack
That could be really cool although theyd need to be careful with hoe you can power up monsters and get the cards to hand so you dont get to have 12k attack monsters turn 1 with really strong effects, although that isnt that much worse than current top decks just having long combos, i personally dont care about otks as long as there is either good counterplay other than just ash blossom and they have relatively short/quick combos like gandorra which isnt meta at all but csn turn 1 get a 10k attack monster but it only takes a few cards to get there
@@hilal8461 when 2 monsters with 0 attack battle each other, neither is destroyed, otherwise you would be correct.
@@keeganwullaert4996Big attack numbers don't mean much going first unless you have effects to back it up, plus there's already decks that can spit out 16k damage going 2nd like numerons so I think it'd be fairly easy to have an attack manipulation archetype still be balanced
That Dragon equip + eternal rest combo was big brain too!
The small detail of the background lighting on the face cams matching the card sleeves is why i love the effort you guys put in
It kind of matches their sides of the mat too. Subtle things like that help make connecting the players to the board more intuitive so us viewers can focus on the cards being played.
these decks have a lot more interactions than Yugi-Kaiba. It's amazing you were able to showcase all the classic mons from these decks: Red Eyes, Toons, Relinquished, Flame swordsman, Scapegoat, Gearfread, time wizard. only missing Thousand dragon. Awesome duel.
The Joey Starter deck from back in the day is a weird perfect example of Joey: Luck and Beatdown as the core often win matches over other more powerful decks. However against Pegasus' deck it's a little bit of a stomp because Relinquished and Toon world at 1 have almost never won a duel by themselves. Also Gryphon's Wing was such a card you only kept in your side for your whale friends who could afford a Harpy's Feather Duster. XD
I always hated that one of the Pegasus holos was Gryphon Wing...no one on the playground had feather dusters.
Everyone had feather duster but the odds of them playing it when you had gryphon wing? And why not have spell jammer or solemn judgement because they’re way more useful .
The idea of Joey taking down Pegasus in the end using a luck based card that was given to him by Yugi is a better ending. Wow.
Oh boy nostalgia round two already ladies and gentleman. Two old school matches in a row, what a great this has been. I'm definite feeling the nostalgia now. These duels are always fun to watch and re-watch. Amazing work as always. I was kind of hoping for a Brooklyn rage and Yugi boy moment but I'm okay with it.
I wish yugioh was still like this
@@gothicfemboy428 for real 😭
Yes, a pleasure to watch but a PAIN IN THE ASS to play.
There's a reason why seamless combo style of modern YGO come to exist. Because its a lot more enjoyable to play, seeing your olan go smoothly and the action start from the 1st turn is...*chef's kiss.
But sadly, to be able to paly as a 2 players game, this seamless combo need to apply to 2 players, making everyone do everything on turn 1. Good for the one who do it, but also a pain for the one who wait their turn...and thats how the abomination we know as "hand trap" & "universal negates" are born.
This game is just flat out cursed.
@@refkiriswansyah2830 I don't find making 5 negates are fun. It's more fun when there is game interaction and not negating everything down to the point in where you can't play. Now days you have to play heavy combo and let's it's just boring in my opinion
@@refkiriswansyah2830 it's not that much of a curse game but I don't get why so much negate exist in this game
The entirety of that last duel deserves to be animated that was legendary
This duel was so dope. The interactions, the signature monster summons on each side, and the down to the wire finale. Yall kill it like always.
Joey starter was my introduction to the actual card game itself. Chose it over the others because I liked Joey and Red-eyes. Really takes me back, I remember playing with my dad up at my grandad's farm.
There was literally no other way for the duel to end than Time Wizard shenanigans. Keep this series up with future sets, it would be so cool to see lol
Honestly love the fact that it guys got your hands on these decks. This is literally my whole childhood growing up. Great duel my guys keep up the great work!
That was actually a really good showcase of both decks strategies. Tools and relinquished. Flame swordsman an red eyes.
Really good set
Minus that misplay at 9:36 missing dream clown to use the effect to pop red eyes
That coin flip was AWESOME
Your acting like actual anime duelists make these duels incredibly fun to watch, I'm really glad I subscribed
These starter decks are getting me the nostalgia feels
starter deck/ structure deck duels will always be my favorite! So much more entertaining to watch over current meta duels
Loved this❤ Felt like a kid again watching you guys duel, thank you for this!
The Joey starter deck was my first starter deck from Toys R Us because I loved the character as a kid and his deck. These videos are bring back so many memories, can't believe that was 19 years ago.............Great, now i'm sad.
Don't be sad.. Be happy that a platform exists where we can reminisce and remember those awesome times together!
What a duel!! It's rarely so close but what a finish!! Great job for both.
I want to see if Joey can beat his arch nemesis Kaiba next 😀
Heck yeah!
👍👍👍👍👍
Ooh that would be a hard one, I’m not sure Joey has anything to handle some of Kaibas heavy hitters(and I don’t just mean his monsters)
@@captainmunchlax8629
I guess Kaiba was more Yugi's archenemy. I suppose Mai Valentine woulda been Joey's archenemy. Did they ever make a Mai Valentine "Harpy Lady" structure deck?
@@TabooX1984 they never made an official one, which is kinda sad because she had a kinda cool deck(for the time)
That was fun and I really appreciate the filming and editing for the duels!
Seeing relinquished out on the field in that second game gave me all the good nostalgia chemicals!
This brought back so much nostalgia you guys earned my sub and like for sure!
Love old Yu-Gi-Oh lol. No waiting 10 minutes for an opponent to end on 40 monsters and a bunch of negates lol
That was such a great set of matches! I absolutely loved how we got to see Flame Swordsman right at the start and then also Relinquished after. Super cool!
The upgrade in editing quality is on point 10/10. This was a great match to watch
Joey gonna win.
You guys should use a Kaiba/pegasus vs Yugi/joey deck and see which pairing on these classic decks is better.
Or do a tag team like in the anime :D
@@Zocker1996 that'll be cool
Is it possible to play Yu-Gi-Oh as a 2 headed giant/tag team game? I know they did in the anime but wasnt that anime only with no real rules for real play?

Joeys Brooklyn rage will win
Let's go
I hope you guys do more old day TCG and hopefully some old day vs new day TCG battles
I'm guessing Paul with Pegasus, credit to Alex cuz he runs the beat down well which could be Paul's undoing if he can't set up, but if he can, then Joey's deck won't match up me thinks
This randomly got recommended to me and I'm so glad it did. Thanks for unlocking some memories- was fun to watch!
Those were some great duels. Good job guys. Also love the addition to music in the background. keep it up
Thank u guys so much for showing the OG decks, my first Deck ever was actually Pegasus, so i really love the nostalgia of the old ones
this is yugioh duel that i know, thank you Team APS for bringing back the memories
Wow both of these really came down to the wire much more in a way that I didn’t expect. Pretty fun stuff you guys. Good job.
Love these kinds of duel from you too. Great job. Keep doing these!
Damn, Alec had some crazy plays in that last game. That play with eternal rest had me on the floor. That ending was perfect. Great duel, you guys!
The nostalgia! Makes me want to buy all four of these decks
omg i really enjoyed that! thank you!
I had a lot of warm feelings watching you play, missing the old yugioh duels and rules
So glad I found this channel, I miss old yugioh so this was nice to see. I look forward to going through the rest of yalls channel.
These starter decks were THE way most of us competitive duelists got a lot of the staple magic/trap cards back in the day (as well as maneater bug and WotBF)
remember when Polymerization was like 30 dollars a pop?
That final duel would have been amazing in the anime. So much back and forth. I know older Yu-Gi-Oh can be a turn off for some people, but that was epic.
Older Yu gi oh is literally what made it a fun game. So much tension, back and forth, if you mess up a turn you have more than enough chances to get back on top. Try bringing someone new into the clustef*ck that is yu gi oh today, bullsh*t combos and one turn kills
I totally loved the duels, especially the last one.
All of them combined just shows what each deck is able to
Awesome video! Loved seeing the OG cards getting played, takes me back man.
the fact that alec said "you may live to regreat that" and then INSTENTLY pulls dark hole is 100% heart of the cards.XD
This brings me right back to my childhood. Would spend sundays at the laundromat playing my dad again and again. Normally losing of course
I cannot believe I watched this whole video. Actually entertaining! Plus fast when turns are decided!
Super entertaining. You guys are getting me back into the game.
Pegasus has one of my most favorite archetypes, im glad yall played with these decks. Keep up the good work!
Bruh so happy you got time wizard at the end. Perfect ending !!!!
Your video appeared in my recommended. I watched for the nostalgia match and I subscribed because I saw one of you wearing a Digimon Digivice-V. I'm a huge Digimon fan and I've had a lot of fun with my Digivice-V; I'll have to check out your channel to see if you've released any Digimon content. Keep up the great work!
I love this channel, couldn’t have scripted a more fun and competitive final duel!
Joey vs Kaiba is who I want to see next. I think Joey will win this one.
I owned both of these decks as a kid, I still remember how happy I was when my mom bought the Joey deck for me. I stared at that box and Red Eyes for the rest of the car ride.
That was so much fun to watch, I gotta see more!
Great Video! Nice to see some old school dueling.
As much as i love the structure deck duels, collectors must hate the idea of you guys ripping these sealed decks open 😭😭
Toon Kingdom is alot more like the anime's toon world, with some limitations, but actually offers some protection
Card effects at no cost, but protection from destruction by battle can only be counteracted by banishing off the top of the deck
Man this is some good content. I love seeing retro games of card games. Such a different meta and the lack of special summons make matches more lengthy
I really want to watch more duels like this, awesome content!!
Time for everyone to talk about how great old yugioh is
Old yugioh is better pendulums ruined this game
@@MaxAndersonn facts
@@MaxAndersonn I personally think it was link summons but yea
Bruh that's all the time
Yeah it's getting annoying at this point "now old good new bad mentality" blind nostalgia, if the game didn't evolve people will still complain about it being slow and stale(set pass set pass set pass etc.)Can be sure those people played Season 1 of Yu-Gi-Oh then quit after it became popular. 🤣
That was a great duel. It really embodies why people loved yugioh in the first place
My very first deck was Joey's starter deck. Watching this reminded me so much of my childhood and it was just so much fun to remember all the duels I'd have with my friends after School on a nice summer day haha you've earned a sub for sure
20:54 you forgot to remove the 500 additional life points for malevolent nuzzlers effect. So the outcome is actually different!
😅true chain link email servdr won
Joey just have to use his Brooklyn Rage to beat Pegasus
That was really fun and nostalgic, thanks for sharing!
You guys just earned a sub! I really want to see more Structure Deck Duels!
I predict Joey’s deck will win, only because it’s more consistent (admittedly not saying much lol)
This makes me wish we had a Joey vs Pegasus duel with Joey winning by the skin of his teeth like this.
It would have been epic!
He basically beat Marik in the anime. If it hadn't been a shadow game he wouldn't have passed out before declaring the game ending attack so that was pretty cool.
Huge props for doing videos like these with classic decks, I can't imagine how much they cost, I love realizing those OG days.
Really enjoyed this man!!!
Nothing beats classic Yugioh
Just found you guys today. Haven’t played or watched Yugioh is forever. This is a lot of fun to watch
I just discovered your channel and you both are dope! Seeing you guys review and do a duel is awesome!
Damn this was way more fun than expected. I love these old duels anyway but these two decks seem to have a real chance against each other. Have never seen the Toon White Dragon being played that epically and being destroyed with such a clever combo. Those were the good old days of Yu-Gi-Oh!
Love you guys for making those videos. Keep it up.
Just discovered y’all, great memories looking at these cards. Thanks for the content.
You guys are fun! Thank you for the video
