  • Great bit of Can... much better than the version on the LP. And is that really Dave Nice (from Radio Fab FM) on keyboards...? ;-)

    Arguably more Moonshake than Dont Say No. This live version is Stunning music from Can even in their autumnal phase & what Holger conjures on the radio & dictaphone etc is truly sensational & inspirational. That a band could be this good on their last legs (soon to break up) is jawdropping, Viva Can ;-)

    Damo Suzuki left the band a few years before this time frame. Saw Delight (the album this song is on) was the fourth album they made after Damo left the band.
    I saw Damo in concert a few years ago, though. He was great. He came to Cleveland and played with Cul De Sac, doing a very Can like set. And at the end of the whole thing, he jumped off the stage and started hugging audience members, including me! I got Damo sweat on me!!!! :-)

    This is soo awesome. Jaki must be a super humble dude to just kick back and play the drums like that when he really has the ability to go off like a madman with four genius limbs that can all have their own shit going on, completely independent of each other. Sadly, it does look a bit like they are all waiting for Damo to come down from the great acid temple in the clouds and join them though. Seems a little lost or empty maybe without him screaming like a unicorn in labour over the top of it a

      Funny, according to Jaki it was Holger who became fixated with the idea of virtuosity and he began to try too hard. Said his playing was much more interesting in the earlier years. He also cited the theft of the Mustang bass and the adoption of the Jazz bass as a clear dividing line and point of no return for Holgar as a bass player. This is from the book in The CAN Box from the late 90s.

    • @frenchguitarguy1091
      @frenchguitarguy1091 Před 2 lety +1

      @@slamjackson2137 all gates open the latest book states the contrary, with Holger feeling less confident, and the other players getting incredibly good, Rosko was bought in so that he could bring new sound to the band. There was other stuff, but since 76 CAN was slowly dying.
